Squashing deficiencies.

Today's Tids Issue 4,883

I just gotta hope:

Julian Edelman was a football player, pure and simple. I don’t normally start this esteemed morning mess with a tale about a football player, but Julian was a Can-Do American. A genuine C-DA He was a guy who looked at obstacles as only challenges to overcome. He knew his attributes and deficiencies, yet found a way to have pluses diminish the minuses. Like most greats, Julian demonstrated that it is always about what’s in the heart; in the belly of the beast. Its about never giving up. I think it’s worth a few minutes looking at guys Like Julian Edelman.

Monday, I titled the Tids “The new plague”. You probably didn’t get it. You know the black plague of the middle ages was an uncontrollable disease that killed between 75-200 Million in Eurasia and Northern Africa. And while we have a pandemic of major proportions now, modern medicine is doing a pretty good job of beating it down. But there is a new plague in town which may be more devastating. to society. One that is infecting people’s minds and perhaps even more dangerously, people’s hearts. Have we reached the point where the possibility for trust is evaporating? A society where the singular goal is winning the argument and not finding a mutual solution. Yes, we are in era of a plague that is infecting people’s minds and hearts. Is it too late to stop it?

Forsythia is at its yellowest around here. And it sure brightens up the countryside. It is quite a remarkable, yet often underrated flowering extravaganza.

A guy asked me if I had anything harder to drink than water. I said yes, ice.

The Question:

Baseball started early, but normally it is around now when the first pitches are thrown. Who was the first President to throw out the first ceremonial pitch?

Think about the loss of Georgia senate seats for a minute. Georgia, a Repub stronghold losing two seats at once.  A crevice miles wide in good old reliable solid south. Now it’s peaches for Dems for two and six years. Anybody who doesn’t think the Repubs have problems is drunk.

Big Business will be sticking with the Repub Party. That still isn’t enough to overcome hordes of unlawful immigrants.

These new First of gender, race, ethnic group government and corporate appointed and elected officials will make just as many bad decisions as those old fashioned average white people.

Forming meatballs is like petting animals just a little bit too late.

The Answer:

It was William Howard Taft. Grover Cleveland had bee asked bt he replied, "What do you imagine the American people would think of me if I wasted my time going to the ball game?" McKinley was asked but he didn’t show up. But Taft absolutely loved baseball and not only did he throw out the first pitch to Gabby Street but sat with his VP James Sherman keeping score. Oh, WH Taft weighed 340 pounds, so I would say that nobody missed seeing him throw out the first pitch.

Thanks for coming. The Tids rolls on.
