Priceless.

Today's Tids Issue 4,901

Identity Schmentity:

“Sometimes you don’t know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” –Dr. Seuss

As you can see from the above, we have started the countdown to 5,000 Tids; 4,901 and counting. There must have been a couple of good ideas along the way. I often wonder if people read the whole thing or just look for misspellings, typos or the stuff they can disagree with. I’d rather laugh.

(Thank God for Spell-Check! In the above I spelled mispellings wrong!)

Banning things like plastic bags is just one more way to inconvenience the responsible so that the irresponsible won’t feel bad about their lack of caring.

In response to yesterday’s diatribe about my inability to sort out the complexities of buying clothes online, a good reader writes to suggest, “Buy jeans!”.

The Question:

What do you think are considered the Ten Best Comic Strips ever?

The Headlines:

I have to tell you I am getting much too excited about the return of Football and my newly revised New England Pats. Just two and a half months util training camps open. Being a rabid fa can be tough.

That “Priceless” title has nothing to do with the inner qualities of the Tids. It’s about about incredible small things that we encounter in our lifetime that are worth more than Bill and Malinda’s billions. They are all in there and we just have to take a little time out of our days to reach down and touch them.

Arizona Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema is the female version Of WVa’s Joe Manchin, and she has Joe B worried. The 50-50 thing just became more tenuous for the power seat. Of course if she gets what she wants form the Admin, all bets are off for Repub dreams.

I noticed yesterday during the reporting of the terrible Mexico City bridge collapse that the reporter made a special effort to mention that there were three teenagers on the train. That is a trending reporting scenario lately, always specifically mentioning children, or as in this case teens, as part of a tragedy. Maybe they think that somehow makes tragedy more painful. But I am equally grieved, disturb ed over the loss of moms and dads and grandparents and cousins and uncles and aunts and siblings and dear friends. It must be all part of this identity mentality mess.

Did you hear about the fellow whose entire left side was cut off?  He's all right now.

If it rains all summer, will our streets be less crowded with tourists? Or will our town just become a rainy day staycation destination?

Thanks to everybody who sends me funny stuff to use in the Tids. I like funny stuff. And, I get plenty from politics too.

Kamala is in town today, and every women’s group is on high alert. Politicians of all types will be on their hands and knees awaiting the anointing. And the nightly local news will be over the top.

Just think, if a person wins Mega Millions or Powerball jackpots in the neighborhood of $350 Million, they would still be a relative pauper next to the Gates or the Bezos, even though they could be set for several lifetimes.

Everything in life is relative.

The Answer:

Personally, I can agree that the top three are ok by me. #1 is the great “Calvin and Hobbs”. #2 is “The Far Side” and that is followed by “Peanuts”. I would probably put “Dilbert” next, but that is #13. #4 is “BC” followed by “Garfield” (Which I avoid every day) and then we have “Zits”, “Fox Trot”, “Hagar the Horrible”, “For Better or For Worse” (Absolutely great for a little happy emotion each morn) and at #10 Good Ole’ “Beetle Baily”. I’’ll go to #25 starting with “Pearls Before Swine”, “The Wizard of Id”, “Dilbert”, “Baby Blues”, “Bloom County”, “Blondie”, “Mother Goose and Grim”, “The Family Circus”, “Denis the Menace”, “The Lockhorns”, “Hi and Lois”, ”Mutts”, “Marmaduke”, Non-Sequitur” and at #25 “”Pogo” Another of my morning standards, “Shoe” (Loaded with Puns) is at #26. I grew up with the antics of thee Katzenjammer Kids which is at #61. One of my current favorites “Rhymes with Orange” isn’t listed. Maybe it is local.

I have this idea that there is no such thing as a bad day, because you always have those little memories to make you smile, regardless. Oh, there are annoying days, sad days, bad news days, confusing days and “I-can’t-take politics-any-longer” days. But days always have a way of sorting themselves out to the positive side if our minds allow it to happen.

Sorry for the preaching.
