Blame is lame

Today's Tids Issue 5,170

It's all about viewpoints:

I like my mornings by the sea,

The sun rising out of waters deep,

The glistening dew in fields of sheep.

I think of all of you just like me

Eyes fluttering as the light creeps in.

Feeling the renewal of life within,

There’s nothing like the dawning sun.

Except perhaps a hole-in-one.

We experience a lot of mini crises in this country, often hyped into major disasters by the media. But what gets me is that our intrepid representatives in government spend most of their time trying to find ways to blame each other instead of solving the problem.

And why do I see more and more people looking to ye Federal government to solve problems than trying to solve them themselves. And stay in control.

And when did the lowly clam get elevated to Lobster “Market Price” status.

The Question:

Name the top 15 Male Actors of all time. I may not trust this list as the great Gene Hackman was only 61 and Henry Fonda 62. The list was a result of 2.2 million people votes.

Maybe high gas and diesel prices will be keeping fishing boats, commercial and pleasure, tied up at docks. That could help replenish fish stocks.

With fuel costs becoming prohibitive for many, it will be interesting to see if boat traffic declines. Now, sailboats are another story. Especially if the sailor is good enough to bring it home with out engine power.

I heard a late thirties/forty something playing the nostalgia game on the radio this morning. One was, “remember when we used to get our movies on a CD in the mail!” Yikes! I thought that was modern technology. Nostalgia is now only ten years old.

One of the great old restaurants Newport RI was just sold. But he ir tale tells of a story of what many people feel is missing in today's corporate run university trained restaurants and personnel. For the long-time owners of “Shells and Scales”, their goal was “bringing the delicious, yet unpretentious, cooking style they fell in love with while living in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy seafood dishes in their purest form – simple, fresh and full of flavor.” Cooking simply and pure seems to have lost its meaning a bit today. The restaurant has delighted eaters and won awards over the past 35 years. The new owners say they aren't going to touch a thing, which are generally ominous words from new owners of anything.

To be honest with you, I feel bad for Thomas Lane.

Some of the greatest chefs and cookbook writers suggest cooking so you are featuring the natural flavors of what you are cooking and not masking them by what you are adding.

Did you see where the Dem Governor Candidate in Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro was pushing for a win by Trump supported Mastriano in the primary last night because he would be the easiest Repub candidate to trounce in November. Politics is weird.

The way things are changing on earth, you have to wonder if people from hell most likely bought heaven as a time share.

America’s deadliest attack on a school occurred in Bath Township Michigan in 1927. 38 kids and 6 adults were killed; 58 others were injured. The weapon of choice was bombs. The killer was Andrew Kehe oe who was mad because he lost an election. In other words, he was seriously disengaged from society like all other mass murderers. Explosives were set to destroy the other half of the school but failed to go off. Kehoe had been Treasurer of the School Board and was upset they had spent too much money buuilding the bigger school.

Yesterday's second WH press conference under the control of Psaki replace men Karine Jean-Pierre looked like amateur hour at the podium.

The Answer:

Picking the best of anything, especially something so amorphous as acting, is really difficult. It's so much about personal taste. I totally don’t agree with Number one, Robert DeNiro, who always looked and sounded like Robert De Niro to me. I can go with Al Pacino as #2. Ok, here we go: #3 was Marlon Brando, followed by Jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Newman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks and #10 Leonardo Decaprio. Going up we had Densel Washington, Gary Oldman, Robin Williams, James Stewart, Robert Duval, Michael Caine, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr., Ian McKellen, Alan Rickman, Gregory Peck and at #25, Johnny Depp. Humphry Bogart was 41, Sidney Poitier 44, John Wayne 47, Steve McQueen 58, Matthew McConaughey 65, Spencer Tracy 68, Clark Gable 75, Charleton Heston 91 and William Holden 111. There are e\many great and household names on the way up to 150. But I don’t get De Niro as first. The only movie of his I really remember was small one with he and Streep called “Falling In Love”.

“If I was an Olympic athlete, I’d rather come in last than win the silver medal. You win the gold, you feel good. You win the bronze, you think, ‘at least I got something.’ But you win that silver, that’s like, ‘Congratulations, you almost won! Of all the losers, you came in first! You’re the number one loser! No one lost ahead of you!’” – Jerry Seinfeld

Today life is really about how different people look at the same thing. And then write about it on social networks.
