Emotions.

Today's Tids Issue 5740

Floating:

Well, weve always known that Politicians have been adept at disguising waste, and now in these first few weeks of the new admin, we see it in full technicolor.

BTW, yesterday a made what I thought was a lighthearted quip about bringing back Mount McKinley. If I had read deeper into the Gulf of America/Mexico thing story I would have noticed Trump did return the Mount back to Mac. That led to a thought that a mountain in cold Alaska may just be the new symbol of American hostility as surely now the gauntlet has been thrown, and the next Dem Prez will change it back to Denali.

But most important in this world is people loving people. Which, btw, is still hanging in there pretty good. Politics divide but hearts unite. This morning, I received a note that touched me. It was from a good reader who is very funny when not criticizing my grammar and spelling. Following are excerpts from his note which I thought you'd enjoy reading: One day, you come to the realization that the same person does not come twice in a lifetime...” “There are those who enter our lives, touch us in ways that leave us forever changed...” “...The laughter, comfort, and companionship...” One day, you may wake up to the realization of just how rare they are, but by then, they might already be gone...” “...you’ll learn a hard truth—some losses are forever.

The Question:

Who was Saint Valentine?

The Headlines:

--Strock Indices Plummet After January Shows Higher than Expected Consumer Prise Rise; In Earnings repirts, Heinz Flunks, CVS Passes with Smaller Loss than Exected.

--Congressional DOGE Sub Committee Holds First Meeting Today

--Musk Holds Court, and Son, in Oval Office.

--Not much real news today, unless you are interested in the complexities of celebrity marriages.

Will North Face now change their famed Denali coat to The Mac?

They are announcing the coming of the Newport Hamburger competition. To me it means cooks loading up a decent beef patty with a lot of stuff I would never eat. But i is just the times as cocktails and coffees are created with the same mindset.

A nice woman I know is going though weight loss counseling with apparently a tough task master. The adviser says don't get trapped into vegan or vegetarianism but just count out certain foods and strive for moderation.

I have a hunch the Tids is going into Spam due to the security features of new email concepts.

There is no question in my mind that Trumps strategy is to get issues before the Supreme Court. It's all about testing the limits of Presidential Power.

A large and powerful kingdom conquered their wealthy neighbor only to discover its treasure was all hidden away. Only the count from the conquered kingdom knew where the gold was hidden but he refused to tell. The conquerors took him to the dungeon, placed his head on the chopping block, and told him: “This is your last chance! Tell us where the gold is or off comes your head!”
Beads of sweat slithered down the count’s face but still he said nothing. The captain gave the signal, and the executioner brought his hatchet down, but just as he did, the count’s courage broke and he blurted out: “No! Wait! I’ll tell you where gold’s hid-
But it was too late. The axe came down, off came the head, and no one got the gold. he moral of the story is: “Don’t hatchet your count before he chickens.”

I don't like changing the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America for the same reason I didn't like changing McKinley to Denali.

Do you realize that assassinated president McKinley was known for tariffs and acquiring other countries like the Philippines and Guam. Hmmm.

Have you noticed over the past decades that we have been eliminating crimes? How is an honest person expected to survive?

Well, it is two days before Valentines Day. For some people it is a time of pure panic.

The Answer:

There are many rumors and unanswered questions surrounding the person for whom a day of celebrating love is named after. But he was priest in Rome in the mid 200’s AD who performed marriages of soldiers. The pagan roman emperors had banned marriages of young potential soldiers who could become part of a marauding armies to conquer other nations. St. V was imprisoned for it and executed on February 14 circa 269. Over time that date began to mean love and affection, and that priest representing the romance of affection.

Love songs are cool.
