Around here it turns out that February 5 is a huge day. It is the day tickets for the Newport Folk Festival go on sale globally and are sold out in an hour. It is also the day for registering for the Salve Regina U Circle of Scholar Spring semester of classes which are equally in demand where many of the 70, count em’, seventy are sold out in minutes. This Program btw is an enormously successful and incredible effort to designed to help older generations have a chance to keep on learning.
I remember as a college kid trying to find our own intellectually satisfying alternative to the pop world and finding it in Dixieland. I rank many a beer to that sound. So much for the intellectual side.
