Time Out.

Today's Tids Issue 6,017

Passing Smiles:

Nature can't make up its mind.

Adding woe to the daily grind.

Yet in a short month well find,

It can be exceedingly kind!

If America is brought down, it is us who will do it.

Beethoven's first Symphony is I would say the great transition... from Mozart and Hayden to Beethoven and his new standard. But even more significant if you think about it, is the transformation of Ludwig himself from his First to his Ninth Symphonies. Never be satisfied with your first effort. It is just the first step into finding something great.

NY Post Oscar Headline: Blather after Blather.

The Question:

Name five Stories that took place in Copenhagen.

The Headlines:

--Israel Begins Limited Boots on Ground Action in Lebanon; Iran Hits Key UAE Oil Port and Dubai Airport.

--UK’s Starmer says he will Not be Drawn into A Wider War; Trump Unhappy.

--White House CoS Susie Wiles Diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

Bracket time: First, the Big East got screwed with their two top teams playing in the same regional bracket. Florida looks overrated to me, having been trounced by Vandy a few days ago. Im picking a few upsets just for fun like VCU over Carolina Blue, and South Florida over Louisville. My two surprise teams are Arkansas and Michigan State. And maybe Iowa State. My final eight are Duke, Mich State, Vandy, Houston, Arkansas, Gonzaga, Michigan and Iowa State. The Final four are M-State, Vandy, Arkansas and Michigan. Michigan beats Michigan State for the Title. Don't be on this one. I'm too emotional in my picks.

On the women'ss side UConn is an overwhelming favorite though Id worry about UCLA which though considered way behind UConn, is a solid number two. South Carolina would be third choice. There are a lot of niLitteltel teams out there like Rhode Island, Fairleigh Dickenson and Texas Tech. Unlike the men, the margin of diffidence between good teams and great teams is humongous. There will be some great games played and we will see amazing shooting and smart passing,

People just out of college are having more trouble than usual finding jobs. And those that do are expected to contribute creatively immediately. No honeymoons. A study shows that many new hires don’t last 6 months for many reasons. It's tough to comment on a world so far from the one I enjoyed. Just seems like a lot of shakeups have created a new norm, and most big companies haven't figured out where they are going yet... you know in the inevitable world of AI.

Here's a headline that really had me laughing: “Rhode Island Senate rolls Out Plan to Fix Health Care". RI can't fix roads.

One of the first things I remember learning about is Eli Whitney and his cotton gin. And even today his invention is still considered one of the more significant inventions of all-time. Oddly Eli din’t make money and in fact the US Government failed to protect his patent. Hanky-panky? Nah

From my point of view, AI is just a big buttinski. Increased productivity would just give me more time in which to do nothing, But, Beethoven would find it helpful.

The President is showing signs of the pressure as he warns our allies, “It would very bad for the future of Nato if allies didn’t help  (Clearing the Strait of Hormuz)” Maybe if Trump got the allies on his side before he started the war, hed have them working along side of America now, As Germany said, “Its not our war”.

Missile manufacturing companies could be a good bet for investors, Many reports say that between the current attack on Iran and what we have given to Ukraine, it will take years of increased production activity to replace them all.

Holding the feet of government official's to the fire as media does best is the most patriotic thing anybody can do. Freedom the press is essential to keeping us above the fall.

Apparently as part of a new Kids Internet Safety bill being argued in congress is big stumbling block which would have all users show an ID for “every time they go online. Digital rights advocates warn that tying everyday browsing to a government issued ID would usher unprecedented levels of state and corporate surveillance. And of course, AI would find a way to use it.

The Answer:

You know them all, The Littlest Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor has New Clothes, The Little Matchgirl, Thumbelina, The Princess and the Pea and The Brave Tin Soldier.

My mind was befuddled today. You may have noticed.
