Emerald City Lives.

Today's Tids Issue 6,040

Getting psyched:

Don't get all crazy and excited today when news says S&P sets new all-time high. If the market goes up a smidge of a point, it is an all-time high because that's where it's at. Of course, the market went bonkers with the opening of the Strait. But I thought the line was clever and a nice caution about too much exuberance over hyped headlines from mis characterized statistics. The Dow was up 855 near closing.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if AI in the future could figure out how to circumvent all cybersecurity defenses. Think of that as the real WWIII, a momentous battle between good and evil in the infinite web of s cyberspace, while humans stand hopelessly by wondering if this is the beginning or the end,

One of the great American myths perpetrated by politicians and activists is that all wealthy people are evil and self serving while low income, striving Americans are good, giving and deserving. And bad decisions are driven by it.

Jellyfish have survived for 650 million years without have ing brains. What do you think teh next line should be?

The Question:

Approximately how many books do you think are published each year including big publishing houses, Amazon and self-published books?

The Headlines:

--Israel and Lebanon Agree on Cease Fire; Hormuz Opened; Stocks Sure.

--Apple iPhone Shipments to China Up 20%

--Justice Thomas Warns of Dangerous rogressivism; Says Divided Nation and Courts Could Precipitate changes in Source of “Inalienable Rights”.

--Russia ups the bombardments of Ukraine.

Beyond the splashy headlines, Elon Musk is putting together a lot of positive pieces that could be the basis upon which the next generations are built.

Fifty clowns were fried from the circus. It freed up 3 parking spces.

Interesting: The two likely 2028 GOP presidential candidates, Rubio and Vance are the leading negotiators for the Iran Peace talks. Is this like a contest or something?

Clown computers come with 32 gigglebytes.

The tourists coming to Boston today will be carbing up getting ready for Patriots Day on Monday and the great Boston Marathon. It will be the first real event of our 250th as it celebrates Paul Reveres ride to warn Lexington and Concord thet the British are Coming.

“It was two by the village clock,

When he came to the bridge in Concord town.

He heard the bleating of the flock,

And the twitter of birds among the trees,

And felt the breath of the morning breeze

Blowing over the meadows brown.

And one was safe and asleep in his bed

Who at the bridge would be first to fall,

Who that day would be lying dead,

Pierced by a British musket-ball.

You know the rest. In the books you have read,

How the British Regulars fired and fled,—

How the farmers gave them ball for ball,

From behind each fence and farmyard-wall,

Chasing the red-coats down the lane,

Then crossing the fields to emerge again

Under the trees at the turn of the road,

And only pausing to fire and load.

Thats from Longfellow’s “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere.” I've walked that path. There is nothing quite as feeling as standing there where heroes bled. To sense how they faced the dread protecting that Concord bridge. Down the road near a rising ridge. With bullets of 250 years ago , still marked on houses so we will know.

The Answer:

It is estimated that about 4,000,000 books are published each year. Amazon hurt a lot of bookstores in the beginning but it promoted reading, Barnes and Nobel has bottomed out and has been adding about fifty stores a year. So, the net result is that people are enjoying reading more than ever. You may be interested in knowing that the average small book store stocks 5-25K books, B&N 80-150K and Amazon. Well it's a lot—30 million Titles. I've got some catching up to do.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
