Where's the Rudder.

Today's Tids Issue 6,048

No, not again:

King Charles made quite the statesman like speech before Congress yesterday. And people wondered what's that all about... no anger?

I really don't like this apparent use of the FCC and its license renewal threats to bludgeon media companies when the government doesn't like reporting, opinions or jokes. Now that is truly un-American

Parents are always asking children what they want to be when they grow up because they are llooking for ideas.” Paula Poundstone.

“Peanuts” makes me laugh every morning.

Whenever I need a boost to my romantic heart, I play “Gaelic Heart” by Michael Ackinson.

The Question:

Spam always meant Spiced Ham. But it has morphed into being unwanted email solicitations. How did it become that?

The Headlines:

--Meta, Microsoft, Alphabet (Google), Amazon Report today, Apple Tomorrow.; Wall Street Looking for Definitive Movement on AI; Fed Meeting starts Today, but Firmly in Interest rate Pause Mode; Markets Sluggish at Opening; Dow Plunges, Nas Hanging at Noon.

--US Vows to Continue Blockade.

--SC Rules Against All Black La Congressional District.

Here's an interesting Item. Well-known liberal congressman Barney Frank entered hospice care yesterday to live out final days. It always makes you feel sad regardless of politics. That is, if you are human. With that he announced that we he will release his book which will repudiate his party's left flank, He says “Progresessive Democrats have embraced a political agenda that goes beyond what is politically acceptable.

Doing nothing is very hard to do. You never know when you’re finished.” —Leslie Nielsen

If the Iran military is destroyed, how do they keep Hormuz closed

Daydreaming is never good when you are standing over a golf ball readyto hit the perfect shot.

Leaders should rise above the cacophony and not becoem part of it.

“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.” Kurt Vonnegut

A scary realization is when you become the oldest person in the family and you can’t say, “Hey Dad, what do I do now.”

There is a growing consensus in New England that the problem wasn't fired Manager Cora but the GM Breslow and owner John HenrySorry for lapsing int provincialism, but your ball team can do that to you.

Haven’t heard a bit of news about Iran or Ukraine for a couple of days. But in both war torn lands through no fault of their own, real people are suffering.

In his talk yesterday, King Charles used the great line; “The US and UK share everything in common except of course, language.,

“Sometimes you lie in bed at night and you don’t have a single thing to worry about. That always worries me!” —Charlie Brown

The Answer:

A Monty Python sketch in 1970 had a bit about a greasy spoon restaurant that served only spam for breakfast dishes. In the corner there a group of Vikings drown out all conversations by Singing, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Lovely Spam, Wonderful Spam In the ninety’s embryonic email days loyal Pythonistas saw the sketch and likened the annoying repetition to unwanted email. Thus, spam became Unsolicited Electronic Communications.

And, you thought spam was high tech: Serious Pathetic Attempts at Marketing.
