Inevitable ramifications.

Today's Tids Issue 4,236
For Preservation of us:

If you’re not thinking about somebody else, you’re not having a good day.

Single minded activist assaults on the whole that is the USA, if not tempered, will only lead to destabilization and eventually an impotent government. My thoughts here were gleaned from discussions among thinkers from Johns Hopkins U, who see the personal arrogance against the law minded as playing into the hands of those waiting in the wings for a weakened United States – namely Russia and China. Sound far-fetched? Just think about a country where aggressive uncivil behavior is being blessed; where law breaking is enabled; where “me” instead of good for the whole has become precedent over rational, broader based needs. Where intrinsic governmental guide lines based on the Constitution and yes, the ten commandments, are being dismissed in favor of narrow personal objectives. The United States of America is not in a vacuum, and the collateral damage from narrowmindedness will be global.

Personally, I like neighborhoods without sidewalks.

The Question:
Hi Everybody – we haven’t had a “Do you know these people” “Q” for a while. What I do is list apparently well-known celebrities whom for the most part I am unfamiliar. Sometimes what I find is interesting, sometimes it falls flat. Who are these people: Arlene Sorkin, Beth Daniel, Lori Petty, Steve Coogan, Stacy Keibler, Skyler Shaye and John Seda.

You gotta expect the GOP house to plow into all of these investigations still on the table before their leadership vanishes due to a possible Dem takeover. This will be an interesting sideline battle, beneath the tiresome campaign rhetoric.

Some days when I have nothing to do, I get it done early enough to leave plenty of time for a nap.

If the US goes to a single payer Health Care system, will all nurses and doctors then be Government employees too? Union leaders are licking their chops.

Who says things stop blooming in Autumn? I would expect many a pop-up toy store to emerge in the next few weeks to replace the void due to Toys r Us disappearance.

Hotel employee’s unions are protesting the advancing efficiencies of technology. There is no question that going forward on the national debate stage, this will be one of the newest hot topics, among all the other hot topics. Yes, you can expect featherbedding to return significantly, dwarfing the period that put US railroads on the back burner.

I have been observing what appears to be a growing coffee price war. The formerly high-priced national brands of well-designed bagged coffees are having more frequent deep discount days. The idea of course is to get all of those who avoided the high prices to try it, and then inch the prices back up. The companies most hammered will be the local roasters that have needed the aura of high prices to be profitable.

A new Mass migration from Honduras will attack US southern Border just before midterm elections. They will give Dems new opportunities to make up new stories about alleged bad treatment of individuals trying to sneak into the USA. How will we ever get to reasonable debate when a large group thinks that “Illegal” entry isn’t a crime anymore.

I have been seduced to buy those high-priced coffees at the lower cost, and I have to say, that for the most part they just are not better, or even as good as many affordable coffees. Of course, the real challenge is trying to pick the right coffee type among a vast selection of types, which for the average person are almost impossible to interpret.

Trendy homebuyers are eschewing galley kitchens for large kitchens with very large islands…islands which effectively turn large kitchens into convenient galley kitchens.

A little kid goes into his parents’ room and says to a sleepy dad, “I can’t get to sleep.” The dad replies as he rolls over, “Watch me closely, I’ll teach you how.”

Four of us guys grew up in the same neighborhood – from the time we were 3 or 4 til we went to college and married. We have all stayed in touch, and two of them who were next door neighbors remained quite close. One was a former government Labor Department economics and Hillary arch liberal. His best friend, a former Banker, could be classified a tea party conservative. But, that never mattered between two guys who enjoyed each other, even as the jokes and good-natured ribbing abound. But, despite the conservative’s many attempts, the liberal has not answered his pleas for a response since the Trump victory. Now if that can happen between two very close and supportive friends, think of what will happen between angry strangers. Tis a predicament. And very sad. Sad for a country whose first name is “United”.

BTW, Hill asked that her old State Department security clearance be cancelled. Hmmm. Hillary is one of those people, who when she does something, you wonder what she’s up to next. Or, am I paranoid.

The Answer:
Ok, let’s see what surprises I find. Arlene Sorkin is probably best known as wacky Calliope Jones on “Days of our Lives”. She had big start on America’s Funniest People, but was axed, then sued Dibona for being fired dur to race (A black woman was hired to replace her.). She is the voice of Quinn on the Animated Batman Series. Beth Daniel is a Hall of Fame LPGA Golfer. One of the best. Lori Petty got early breaks with good parts in Point Break and A League of Their Own. She is one of those character Actresses you see often. She is probably now best known for her role as Lolly Whitehill in Orange is the New Black. Steve Coogan is a British Comedic Actor who gained fame as Alan Partridge. He won Best Comedy actor for that, and a Golden Globe for writing, producing and starring in Philomena, plus two Oscar nominations for writing. Stacy Keibler is a former professional wrestler who finished third on a season of DWTS. She is also an actress who appeared in numerable TV shows like What about Brian, George Lopez, October Road and How I Met Your Mother. Skyler Shaye is Jon Voight’s Goddaughter and he helped her along in an early film, that led to a somewhat sporadic career in TV. Her best-known roles are as Cloe in Bratz: The Movie and as Kylie in Superbabies: Baby Geniuses. So, Voight’s tutelage didn’t get her much. Finally, we have John Seda who wanted to be a boxer and did very well in Golden Gloves, But acting lured him away and he became well known for his role as Chris Pérez alongside of J-Lo in Selena and as Detective Paul Falsone in Homicide: Life on the Streets. Not much there.

It’s the middle of October and everything’s just plain beautiful. Isn’t a perfect fall a special romantic time to feel the beauty of another’s heart. So, if I were to write a love song, I would probably base it on the the Elgar variation called #9 Nimrod. Walk on air today.
