Today's Tids Issue 4.520

There is
something special,
As I sail though life’s waters.
Of what a father’s heart feels
When thinking of his daughters.
It appears that more academics
then you could imagine spending their government grants trying to determine what’s
a vegetable, fruit or grain. The latest from those heroic, painstaking quandaries
is that Corn is a fruit, or perhaps a grain. I mean, why should any body care. If I like it I eat it.
In a recent TV interview,
an old guy who had lived through wars was asked how he thought he managed to
live to 95-years-old. He smiled a bit and said, I guess I didn’t get those
messages about what I shouldn’t do, eat or drink that were bad for me. I just lived.
The combination of
innumerable choices you have made in your life have brought you to this exact
point, reading this exact sentence.
Is should be commenting
on the Impeachment thing more. But, I’d rather hear what the live people have to
say rather than opining on leaked, or partial bits of testimony. Apparently, the
President doesn’t like the Repub strategy that basically says what he did was
inappropriate but not impeachable. He says as you have heard quite a bit, that everything
he did was perfect. My guess is that he will be impeached because this is a political
process. So, with all of the hullabaloo, and cable stations licking their chops
over potential huge ratings, it really all comes down to whether or not the
Senate can find 67 members who will vote against Trump.
But, here is an
interesting angle. The conviction vote is 2/3rd’s of senators who are present.
That could lead to some funny stuff, depending on which Senators are facing
what in their own reelection process.
Bolivia is just
the latest country to fall into chaos as the result of interruptive governed coups.
The Question:
Name five of Neil Young’s songs. Bonus: How
many Atomic Bombs do you think the USA exploded on or over the Marshall Islands
between 1946 and 1958?

Your wife says you never buy her flowers.
Husband: To be honest, I never knew she sold
flowers.
I think I’m intrigued
about the soon to be released new movie, The Good Liar starring Helen Mirren and
Ian McKellen.
On the other hand,
Disney just released a peek into the possibilities for entertainment they will bring
forth in their new streaming venture. I saw little that had me excited. Steaming
is hot and trendy, but just because they can do it. doesn’t mean that what they
will deliver will be actually worth watching. Too many of these new “entertainment”
ventures are more the blathering excess of some director’s ego.
As you watch some of this new
so-called entertainment (I can’t tell you how many I escape from after one or three
episodes), you clearly see that there are just no more civilized restrictions on
what you can see and hear. It’s a wonder that more libertarians are not more popular
in political races.
CBS hits their profit number
but revenue lagged significantly. Tis is no surprise as consumer entertainment interests
shift towards new perthites. Despite pushing what H-Wood thinks are block
buster films, theater attendance is way down this year. If we haven’t learned
by now, we will be experiencing significant ongoing change at rapidly increasing
rates in the years to come. Just think. The first humans appeared in earth
200,000 years ago. And by 1055 AD when the battle of Hastings signified an
historic turning point, we look back at what seemed to be pretty archaic times.
Conjure up a time condensation chart in your mind and consider how quickly good
stuff become obsolete today compared to the plodding progress of the past 200K years.
In other words get ready for lots you cna;t even imagine, which you can’t even
compute today.
There has been a lot written about concussions
lately. And moms are increasingly fearful that a bump on the head is going to hinder
to little Johnny or Susie for the rest of their lives; that by the time they
are fifty, they will be incoherent. But science says that concussions do not
bring on early dementia. It’s like everything else, it’s about genes. Or whatever
makes up a body. Some people do well and some don’t
I have been knocked out
cold several times during my younger days of rugged sports and boyhood prankery,
and my fingers still almost always hit the right keys. Not that I am an good
example of anything.
The Answer:
“Heart of Gold” is one that always comes to mind.
Others are, “Old Man”, “Harvest Moon”, “Southern Cross”, “Hey Hey, My My”, :”The
Needle and the Damage Done”, “Tangled Up Blues” and “For what it’s Worth”. Bonus: 67 Nukes were exploded on or
above these romantic Pacific sandy islands.
The US cleaned up all the very radioactive dirt around tehri and added a130
tons of soil from test sires in Nevada. We dumped everything under a giant
dome, now called “The Tomb”. But, it appears that rising tides and age are threatening
the collapse and the release of devasting, deathly material on a nation of calming
islands.
No trees were harmed
during the transmission of this message. However, a rather large number of electrons
were temporarily inconvenienced.
