Today's Tids Issue 4,514
New Consideration:
In a recent medical checkup,
my doctor asked if I had any heart palpitations. I said. Only when I see
something beautiful. Or, I thought, when I hear a melody that creates poetry it
my mind. There are melodies that evoke dreams of places far beyond; a quiet walk
in fresh air on Swiss hillsides, though fields of Edelweiss and purple
columbine. When the views are majestic and your heart rises up, whooshing like
skis on just past winter’s slopes. Positive emotions deposited in the heart for
those days of gray when you must produce your own sun. Yes, I feel the beating in
my heart when a friend does something special or a stranger I do not know, displays
unselfish kindness. Or when the strains from a lone violin sends me on a journey
of reveries.
Are those who
sneeze the most blessed?
Uh-Oh. California may
be doomed. Apparently, the latest raging fire is headed towards the avocado
crop.
You’ll be happy to know
that Oxford University has issued a strict ban against “Clapping”, as in
putting two hands together in appreciation. They said applause, polite or not, is
non-inclusive since the deaf can’t hear it. And in addition, they say, it is unfair
to those who may not like noise. Hey AOC, this is the kind of nonsense that will
destroy the world in 10 years. And the symphony finished to tumultuous silence.
The most tightly held secret in a city
where secrets always leak is the name of the “Whistleblower”. Several sources,
including speculation by the NY Times and bi-partisan Real Clear Investigations
have revealed that the favorite candidate for propagating this most dramatic
episode in US history is Eric Ciaramella, a hold over Obama NSC Ukraine expert.
He was a Susan Rice protege, a friend of CIA’s notorious anti-Trumper Brennan,
and a registered active Democrat who had worked with Joe Biden. He had also
worked with DNC Opposition Researcher Alexandra Chalupa who dug up dirt on Trump
during the 2016 campaign. I have to say that this is still in the theoretical
stages despite numerous “Breaking News” stories. But as the Times says, he
meets profile of the type of person most likely to be the Whistle blower. So,
we’ll see, but he is an interesting political character.
How does
non-stick coating stick to the pan?
A Pennsylvania Democrat
state Senator described early miscarriages as, “Just some mess on a napkin’.
Disgusting. Tell that to the woman weeping over a child. America is losing its
soul.
We just got to start
toning it down. Shock Jock politics gets noticed but it is incredibly
fracturing, in addition to setting a lower standard for the country..

Life is looking up amidst
the intruding intros of fake meat. Arby’s is introducing a couple sandwiches made
with thick sliced Petit Filet Mignon.
The Question:

by “Plea Deals”? Bonus: Who was the first deep south candidate since the
Civil War to be elected President? Extra Bonus: Who are Bill Shepherd, Yuri
Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev? Super Extra Bonus: When you hear the name
Stephanie Power, what do you think of first?

If you are waiting
to be served in a restaurant shouldn’t you be called the waiter?
Which comes first,
the emotion or the melody?
By the way,
I lose interest in a song that repeatedly uses the words “yeah” or “oh
yeah”. It’s like the lyricist just gave
up thinking.
California’s Proposition 47
Referendum effectively gives shoplifters and addicts the effective license to
commit crimes as long as what they stela is under $950 in value. San Fran has
the highest rate of property crime among the USA’s 20 largest cities. Fencing
operations have become big business amidst the homeless shelter areas. I think the
country is losing it’s collective mind.
When overeating
during the holidays, it’s tough to quit cold turkey.
Somehow, I find it difficult
to become poetic over acres of solar panels, versus green fields punctuated by white
daisies waving in soft ocean breezes. Maybe I am Thoreau.
In the days before Twitter
et. al., we got headlines like “Dewey Wins”.
As far as I can determine,
Warren’s Health Care For All payment program is based on eliminating the Private
insurance industry. That is a major step
towards nationalization of the economy, where the government thinks it can do a
better job than private business. See DMV.
Searching for
a new laptop in line is basically forcing your current computer to dig its own
grave.
With all the news,
there’s not much news amidst partisan accusations and denials.
Air BnB is
going to crack down on party houses. That’s great, as these little businesses
have risen quite rapidly where out of town investors step in to buy properties
many a formerly quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, it took the killings on Halloween
to spawn action to eliminate an annoyance which has been brought to their attention
for years.
BTW, Twitter has
banned all political and issue related tweeting. Does this mean that Netflix
and other film distributors will refrain from issue programming? I doubt it.
One of the insidious efforts going on
in this country is this blurring of the lines between public and private
control of institutions, investment and business opportunities. It begets naïve
acceptance by the public for gov solutions until they don’t know what hits them.
The NCAA came out with aa foggy proposal
about allowing athletes to gain something substantial from the use of their
names and faces in promotion. The NCAA has said it would allow Congress to be
the final judge on proceeding further. Congress? Yeah, that should work out
well.
The Buffet group
has about $128.1 Billion in cash on hand (That bundle grows about $100 Mil per
business day) They are having trouble finding any companies worth buying. That
is, at the prices CEO’s are demanding these days.
On a similar note,
Wall Street is taking much closer looks at touted IPO’s, and often seeing more emotion
and promotion than substance.
It won’t be long until
California bans horse racing, now after Saturday when the 37th Horse
was euthanized. There is definitely a serious problem, a sad one indeed. I suspect even California lawmakers will find
a way to keep the tracks working considering the taxes they bring in. Solving problems
is always a better route than banning.
The Answer:
National statistics show that 97% of all criminal
cases are resolved by “Plea Deals”. Bonus: The first deep south
candidate since the Civil War to be elected President was Jimmy Carter. Extra
Bonus: Bill Shepherd, Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev were the first
three inhabitant in the International Space Station. Super Extra Bonus: I
always liked Stefanie Powers. She and her costar Robert Wagner were must TV viewing
in their crime-solving Husband Wife mystery
series, Hart to Hart. Stefani was Polish, born Stefania Zofya Frederkiewicz.
Who knew?
Political correctness almost
always defies logic. But accusatory rhetoric from its advocates often entirely dismisses
with malice the feelings of majorities.
A US District Court for
Western Pennsylvania has said that Racoons “Cannot act with Malice”. Just in case
you come across a vandalizing racoon.
Interesting, isn’t it,
that “take out” refers to food, romantic dating and assassination
