Today's Tids Issue 4,530
We are we:

It always bothered me that people called a home an investment. And in today’s economy too many people are looking at houses as businesses and not places to build dreams, loving foundations upon which giving societies are built. To see the value in laughter that vibrates; the security of caressing arms. The memories of nooks and special hideaways. For rejoicing in the growth of a family; loving relationship for two. That’s the real equity. That’s value. I never bought a home thinking what will I get when I sell it, but what will I retain by living in it.

Nobody ever asks how Coca-Cola is feeling. They only ask, “Is Pepsi Ok?”

Now, I’m a pretty emotional, romantic kind of guy, but headlines about celebrity breakups and love difficulties never touch my heart.

“You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog who barks.”  --Winston Churchill.

Do Airbnb’s serve breakfast? Or did the company just usurp the term for its merchandising possibilities. It turns out that some “Hosts” live up to the name but many don’t, especially most of those who are absentee Hosts using the App for their business. Which makes no sense, except in our new illogical world where just about anything can be rationalized. So, I suggest the company designate itself to potential renters as either Airbnb or Airbnonb.

An old friend wrote to say that he has a new take on the old phrase, “Life is short”. He says, “Life is long! – full of so many people and events, and tragedies and comedies over so many years, and I can’t remember most of them”. As the days do get shorter, the memories do get longer, reaching back, reliving smiles and heartbreaks. All, the many parts of a life winding down many paths. Life, complex at times; beautiful always.

The Question:
Who was Tom Hanks acting pal in the TV’s comedy “Bosom Buddies”? Bonus: For what is Jill Hennessy best known?

Do you find yourself going thorough life lately thinking, phew I wasn’t scammed or hacked today!

If Repubs didn’t like Schiff, wait until they see Nadler in action.

The difference between Epstein pals Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton is that politically savvy Clinton would never go on TV and say something stupid, like “I didn’t have sexual relations with that Woman…’.

If pro football, baseball, hockey and basketball players play golf during the off season, what do PGA golfers do?

Some days I start out with all these great ideas that I think are funny, and then I type them and wonder what I was smoking.

There is an interesting developing economic dilemma. The Baby Boomers, that enigmatic group that controlled American history and the economy as it moved through 7 decades, are massing up to sell off lots of homes over the next two decades. On the other hand, we have the current emerging economic force, the Millennials whc don’t appear interested as a group in homeownership. Will the price of homes, America’s favorite investment, deteriorate, causing a societal breakdown, or will detached investors scap them up for residential neighborhood businesses? Or, am I overreaction to the movement of generations as group forces? Or will we be living on Mars? Things we don’t know, happen.

“Thanks” is not having to travel anywhere on Thanksgiving Wednesday.

Amy Schumer and Chuck Schumer are first cousins once removed. I’m surprised she does’ get more material from her family tree. Chuck wooden think it was funny.

If there is anything I don’t want to be, it is a commodity.

Elizabeth Warren’s solution to the ills of the world is pouring boatloads of money into all problems. She thinks that’s a solution for the Education results deterioration. But it has been pretty well proven that increases in expenditures have not improved educational outcomes. And history has told us that in general big pots of Government money typically leads to high prices and lower efficiencies. Academia can paint a lovely picture of theoretical greenery, but the results of anything always lies in the Hearts of people.

My guess is that all of those people today “cutting the cable;” are going see cost creep in the years to come. Companies don’t grow for long by cutting the potential for revenue.

The “Under Armor” logo on footballs just doesn’t look right to me.

Ironically, in 1941 the US Supreme Court struck down a California law that prohibited people from bringing impoverished non-residents to the state!

Interesting.

Pennsylvania is a leading producer of savory snacks, chocolate and shoo fly pie! You have to love Penn’s woods.

Is Brendan Tidd going to be our next whiz kid PGA Golfer? He just missed his third in a row PGA Championship.

The cost of 12 Days of Christmas is basically unchanged this year at $38,992. An increased cost of five golden rings was offset by a collapse in the turtle dove market. Turtle doves flopping -- who knew? The cost of the same items if bought on line is $42,258. Why? Have you ever considered the shipping costs for 10 lords a leaping, much lest 8 maids and their cows? Porch pirates beware.

The Answer:
Perter Scolari was the other half of the very funny twosome that launched the career of Hanks. After Bosom, Peter went on to have a pretty good gig on the Bob Newhart Show. He won an Emmy palying the father of Lena Dunham in “Girls”. Bonus: Jill was best known as DA Clair Kinkade on Law & Order. She was also the star of Crossing Jordan. She coulda bin Dana Scully, but Gillian Anderson got the role. Her last role was as the mother of “Bull” series character Cable McCrory.

Aloha is a soft laugh!

Demographic sorting of humans by governments and marketers is the commodification of people.
