Today's Tids Issue 4,859
The simplicity of the Press:
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way you’ll be a mile away from them, and you’ll have their shoes.
As I flipped the dial to see what varying ideological “news” channels had to say about JB last night, I caught an opiner on CNN using this phrase to describe the speech: “…speech of this magnitude”. Magnitude? Pearl harbor? “The Only Fear we have is…” It was simply a talk about recounting recent history with some pathos and a far less than earth shattering promise about the availability of Vaccines and a picnic in the back yard.
God created the world; everything else is made in China.
I actually tuned in because CBS Anchor Nora O’Donnell sternly gazed into the camera and promised big news from the Biden Speech. Say what?
At least that speech gave me something to write about today.
Well, we turn the clock hands forward this weekend. It really doesn’t change my life at all. As a reader suggested this morning, if I was turning them a back, I’d find a good year that was part of a simpler life.
The Question:
Reach back into your memories to tell me who was the actress who played Agent 99 on Maxwell Smart, and who was the starring young boy on Lassie. Bonus: What were the basic principles of John Lock. Extra Bonus: What University has the insider nickname, “UDub.”
The Headlines:
--Stocks Confused As Yields Rise Again;
--Year Ahead Could Return USA GDP To Pre-Pandemic Levels.
--Biden Gives First Speech To Country.
--FCC Says Five Chinese Companies Threat To USA: Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hangzhou Hikvision and Dahua.
--di Blasio, Nadler, AOC Latest Big NY Pols To Come Out Against Cuomo; Governor To Face Impeachment Inquiry
Progressive people today who are generally anti the founding principles of America may not remember that our founders were seeking to set up a better society than those of Europe whence they came, free from tyrannical Kings and emperors with no true citizen input. And freedom for all including progressives. Say, Thank You.
In a democracy it's your vote that counts. In feudalism it's your count that votes.
If I’m reading the “T” leaves correctly, the Tech stocks are at the mercy of the Bond yields. No matter how brilliant they are.
In early views of societies, it was determined by the greatest of minds of the eras that everything flows from philosophy and theology.
Joe Crusader, Department:
Here’s one of the funniest “Duh” headlines I’ve read in a while: “Media and Democrats hail Biden as anti-poverty crusader after hill victory.”
News Flash: New reports say that Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that those who have the most live longer.
Early US progressives were dead against mass immigration because it put pressure on the wages of American workers. Now they want entirely open borders as a first step to fulfill their perceived obligation of saving the world.
There are three kinds of people in this world: those who can count and those who can't.
The Answer:
Barbara Felden was wonderful as “99”, and Jon Provost was Timmy Martin, arms continually folded around Lassie. Bonus: John Locke’s Enlightenment theories were essential groundwork beneath the founding principles of America. Among his ideas were separation of Church and State, owning property, he says, is a natural right derived by labor. He argues that nature has no value util it is until labor expended gives it value. And, he believed that property precedes government and government cannot "dispose of the estates of the subjects arbitrarily." Extra Bonus: The University of Washington is “UDub” University of Doubleyou-ashington.
I’m sitting here listening to soft, nonaggressive piano music, and I’m thinking I’m ready to slide into the weekend. But then I’m thinking how will a weekend be any different than a weekday. But I’ll slide anyway. Maybe I’ll discover something new this weekend.
Have a great one, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
