Today's Tids Issue 5.695
Not in my Resolutions:
Jan 2 and reality sets in. That is, if you live in the real world and not in the What-am-I –going-to-do-today world.
Reality came home early yesterday morning. Regardless of resolutions, we still live in a dangerous world. One of the big human foibles is believing that everybody else thinks just like me. To me, the New Orleans incident doesn't like a movement spreading across the land.
My watch just told me, “Time to get moving!” Fat chance, with fat being the operative world.
When my smart devices talk to me, I always answer with sarcasm. They don’t get to. It makes me feel smarter.
The Question:
Root veggies are hot. See how people rate them p based on taste.

I don’t read those Newspaper and local web site columns that say, “Things to do Locally this weekend”. That tells me that local events will be too crowded and parking difficult. I go to places that people left to go to things-to-do locations.
I accidentally rubbed ketchup in my eyes. Now I have Heinzsight.
My big adventure today will be looking for good deals on tissues to get me through the winter.
The Tids Pickers did well in neverland last week. 13-3 brings us to 169-74 or 69.5%. A good week next week will get us into the 70%s! Lots of pressure on the Picker today, but it is an overly abnormal week coming up. Sitting this week are KCs Mahomes, Philly’s Hurts, Buffalo’s Allen and LA Rams Stafford ...and several whole teams along the way who are out of it The KC situation is interesting because if Denver wins it they are in the playoffs regardless. Miami or Cincy, the only other two with a chance need a Denver loss. There are no games tonight or Monday. But on Saturday we have the Ravens winning nicely over my favorite Browns. And the big game; big because Cincy has a good chance if Denver and Miami lose, and they don’t play till Sunday. Cincy Plays a tough Pittsburgh already in. I love Burrows in this one. In the NFC only two teams have a chance for the last remaining spot -- Tampa and Atlanta. TB has the edge and if it pulls away early, I see Atlanta folding ot Carolina. One of my stupid picks last week was thinking Dallas had pride which would have them surprising Philly. I don't feel that way this week and I go with Washington. And in the same conference the Eagles winning a meaningless game against the Giants. I like the Pack to Sharpen their team against the Bears, The Colts lost their chance last week and I like the way the Jags have been playing. I'll pick Jax. The Dolphins have to win to stay in it and they will take the Jets. I like the Chargers A lot over Las Vegas. The Texans will take the Titansand Seattle will wake up for one more win against the Rams. The Cardinals wild be all over the Brockless Niners.
Frankly, all of those so far are filled with nagging doubt. By the way, the important games are doubtful as well. My Pats say they will play the Joshless Bills hard. But not hard enough. Bills win. Another huge game is KC, who has wrapped up everything already and Denver who makes it with a win regardless of what Miami Cincy does. I'm going to pick the Broncs. The last game is a championship caliber game for sure – Minnesota against Detroit. yikes. Personally, i think Minns passing plays develop too slowly and Detroit will be all over them. I’ll take the Lions even though I'm rooting for the Vikes. In case you are interested, this Tids Pickin’ today could be a disaster.
I was walking in the jungle and saw a lizard on his hind legs telling jokes. I turned to a local tribal leader and said, "That lizard is really funny!" The leader replied, "That's not a lizard. He's a stand-up chameleon.
I have one of those annoying colds now and I have discovered that Cheeto dust makes me sneeze harder.
I take pictures that sometimes get faded, blurred on my phone. I call it artistic. But others say, I can’t see them.
Has anything ever gone from elation ot dissonancy faster than it did for Arizona State in that Texas game yesterday. You have to show up for the last play, too.
Maybe there is a possibility for sanity. Trump came out today and supported Mike Johnson.
They say politics is a science. At times it seems like a personality defect.
“Awards Season” begins Sunday night with the “Golden Globes” Time to find a cave. Do you think My Three Sons has a chance?
One of the big changes for 2025 could be in the food business. And I'm not just talking supermarkets (Though they will strive to have lower prices). Restaurants have become too pricey, especially for sustenance eating. Apparently from what I read; food delivery service charges are way too high. So, an early trend could be people trying to figure out how-to cook their own food aha, and do it efficiently.. Will home Ec become a major HS major in the years ahead. I'm majoring in football and Home Ec!
The Answer:
Personally, I don’t think vegies and the word taste should be in the same sentence. Number one is Potato. Next are Carrot, Swet Potato, Onion, Beet, Ginger, Radish Parsnip Yellow, Lily Yam, Turnip, Balck Cumin, Parsely Root, Jicama, Rutabaga, Daikon, Cassava, Celeriac, Celery Root and Kohlrabi.
I thought I'd end the first Tids of 2025 with the song below. I always liked it. But is deep in my mind because one significant time I heard it was at memorial service for a young woman who had died of cancer at the much too young 35. I think everybody in town was for her. Se was that well liked, admired. And then as we gathered outside in a large field of a bird sanctuary, they began playing this song and released hundred \s of butterflies, I will never forget it. It reminds me at the beginning of this year to be kind. You never know when you may not see a person again.
