There's always another place.

Today's Tids Issue 5.716

No surprises anymore:

I mean, I’m aware of weather but I have learned over the years that it comes and goes every day. Yet some days it works out great when the weather prognosticator is wrong.

Speaking of confusion, consider Trump freezing all grants which states already usurped for infrastructure projects and green stuff. Think about blue states wondering how they will survive doing it on their own. The RI super Blue congressional delegation have that old deer in the headlights look. Even super somber Jack Reed exhibited emotion. Maybe that caused the Maine earthquake!

Music and beautiful scenery go togetehr nicely

Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.”

Just so you don't get too overconfident, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists just announced that the Doomsday Clockis closest to midnight than ever – a mere 89 seconds! Double yikes!

The Question:

In 1958 Godfried Kirk Christiansen filed for a patent in Denmark for a product that has become a global Phenomenon. What was it. Bonus: What's the most beautiful melody every written?

The Headlines:

--Nasdaq Claws Back as Techs Surge; Apple up Storing for Second Day; Nvidia Gets Back 7% After 17.5% Plummet Yesterday; Dow Solid.

--Nation Confused after Trump and WH pause all Federal Grants.

--DR Congo Crisis Evolving into Chaos; Explosions and Bodies in Street, Angry Mobs define Capitol Under Attack.

--Doomsday Clock now Super close 89 Seconds form Midnight.

--KC-Buffalo Game Delivers Record Setting 57.4 million Viewers.

Now what? Football season is over except for the big national extravaganza weekend. But I mean for football enthusiasts who love grit without glitz it is all over now. We can only turn to the morass of college basketball games and or the occasional NBA and NHL. But the weekend date with good ole’ football is over til late July. The good news is that when you are old, time flies.

I went to the bank and asked to borrow a cup of money. They said, "What for?" I said, "I'm going to buy some sugar."

There is no truth to the rumor that Trump has ordered that the star panel on the US Flag be changed from blue to red. “Matches my hat,” he says.

I noticed from a Birthdays list in the newspaper today that Alan Alda is just over a year older than me. When we were in High School together, he was a senior when I was a freshman. Hmmmm. Either he is lying about his age in the continuing quest for an ingenue role or he was genius and graduated at sixteen.

All the pithy witticisms today are from Steven Wright.

And anything I write that seems weird you can also attribute to the great S. Wright

I can understand the freefall for the gambler's favorite Nvidia, but the stock is better than the negativity shown yesterday. If you don't think the stock markets are fragile just look again at the panic yesterday

Is "tired old cliche" one?

The story said,66-Million-year-old Vomit found by amateur fossil hunter.” How did he know? I could make some funny remarks but don't want to get into trouble with Vegans

Trump is playing carrot or stick with  a lot of US and global constituencies

“Droughts are because God didn't pay his water bill.”

The Answer:

You may hear a gut wrenching scream in the middle of the night after you or somebody steps on a Lego block left strewn across the living room floor.Yes, Lego got started back then in Denmark. Last year the company's sales grew 23%, In 2003 the company had $800 million in debt and was on the verge of bankruptcy. And now grandchildren do things with blocks you wish you could do.  Bonus: This is about as an opened ended question ever because the answr is so personal. I throw into the ring, Nimrod from Elgar's Enigma Variations.

I'm feeling a little Nordic today. This is light and surely not complex. Just a simpler world as we like it.
