Return to Rationality

Today's Tids Issue 5,699

Duh Illuminated:

Good news: Big Brother is watching people more interesting than me.  (Thanks to Ziggy)

It's always good to begin with a paranoia reduction observation. That means I can procrastinate for another day.

I'm looking at a weather map for today and I wouldn’t be surprised to read that people in the south are clamoring to move to the NortheastLiving with frigid temps or liberals. Yikes.

PC’s still work fine. They are just not cool. Dell, HP and Lenovo have been in the doldrums for a few years since the rush to upgrade PCs for corvid home isolation. Unfortunately, Dell has chosen to ese terminology for its new lineup almost exactly the same as Apple, Dell, Dell “Pro” and Dell “Promax”. Where's the leadership in that. How about a complete change in direction calling the line Snacks. Not as healthy as Apple but more edgy. Salted Chips for extra computer power. Jalapenos chips for spicey AI. Sorry. I get carried away.

The Question:

What are the Top Ten “Las Vegas" Movies?

The Headlines:

--Markets Expected to Follow Chip Stocks Higher; Nvidia Unveils New AI Chip at CES; Magnificent 7 Profits revised Upward; Cautious Investors Still Eying Potential Tariff Effects and Job's Data.

--New Federal Rule Will Remove Medical from Credit Reports.

--7.1 Earthquake in Tibet Kills at Least 126; Rescue Teams Searching for Survivors in Frigid Temps.

--McDonalds Latest of Large Companies to Back Away from DEI; Micky D Introduces McValue Meals in Stores.

--French Far Right Politician Jean Marie le Pen Dies at 96.

McDonalds is looking to increase foot traffic in stores to create profits as opposed to maximizing higher priced margins that drive customers away. Duh.

The Burger company, as mentioned above is now looking at suppliers for their contribution to effective business practices as opposed to how they build their diversity roster. Maybe America is becoming sane again.  Duh 2

So, the TidsPickers were 12-4 in the final regular season weekend. I felt lucky to get that number considering how many teams sat their starters. We end the regular season year at 181-78 or 69.884169%. Thanks a lot, Green Bay! So, we don't hit 70%... exactly. But we have the playoffs and a chance to shine above there and this Thursday and Friday the semifinals of the NCAA football contest. Remember, if you don't like the TidsPickers, I could go back to reviewing The Voice next year. Or writing a novel in installments. Be happy with the agony you have.

I'm glad I have “Spam to tell me of all the accounts I don't have that have been locked or cancelled. Isn’t the internet wonderful. So considerate.

Most of the good series I find on Netflix I've already seen. One of them, btw, was Night Agent. I was set to jump into it last night but I remembered it from the opening seconds. It is a good one. (From my limited point of view) in case you haven't watched it. And the search goes on.

On a radio show this morning they were talking about the Netflix intro of a wrestling show last night -- “WWE Raw”. Now there's a title that doesn't intrigue me. But wrestling fans liked it, I hear. Netflix paid $5 Billion for a ten-year contract with the grappling company. The opinion from watchers was that the production was excellent but the wrestling predictable. But lots of people are into productions over substance these days

I'm thinking the production of Jimmy Carter's service in DC Thursday will be thoughtful and done right... hopefully not by a Hollywood producer. I'm hoping for some good ole’ down to earth protestant hymns. Carter would like that.

The Surgeon General seems to be racing to create his leagacy before Trump arrives on the scene.

One of the things I really dislike in life is being a government statistic.

The Answer:

Number one is Casino, which I thought was pretty good. Nexxt is the Clooney/Damon version of Oceans 11. The rest are The Hangover, Leaving Las Vegas, The Rainman, Vegas Vacation, Oceans 13, 21, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and # 10, the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr version of Oceans 11. Going further we have Diamonds are Forever, Rounders, Last Vegas, and The Cooler. I thought 21 was a good one.

The last show I saw in Las Vegas featured Michael Crawford who made his fame with Phantom of the Opera. I remember the show was over the top and not much else. But I remember Michael for his great performance of a beautiful song.
