Issue 5,704
Through the silence of time:
Inflation. It doesn’t feel like it's gone. It brought down Biden and Harris. Will it be the nemesis of Trump going forward. Tariffs could be inflationary. The loss of cheap immigrant labor could be inflationary. The Fed says it will not allow for a runaway economy. People hear a lot of political pap and rancid rhetoric, but they tend to feel the big picture through their wallets. They always feel it in their wallets. That is always where it is at in case anybody is listening.
Inflation in the US is so bad right now that… My friend received a predeclined credit card in the mail. CEO's are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. McDonald's is selling the 1/4 ouncer. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names. A truckload of Americans were caught sneaking into Mexico. A picture is now only worth 200 words. The Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas is now managed by Somali pirates. I called a car dealer to get the book value on my used car. They asked if the gas tank was full or empty. An oldie but relevant goodie.
You may have noticed in last Friday's Tids that whacky was also spelled wacky. I decided to leave it that way.so I could talk today about two differences that can both be right. Wacky is the contemporary version and whacky is the archaic ay to spell it. I chose the archaic version originally and Microsoft Spell-Check said, “Ok with me”. But when I transferred the word document into Yahoo mail, their Spell-Check said, “Hey you old fool, it's Wacky! Get with it, or face the wrath of typo observers.” Sometimes archaic just feels good regardless of bitter consequences..
The Question:
Which colleges in the USA have the wealthiest students.

Did you see where Trump’s former number one Maga adviser Steve Bannon says he is going to bring down Trump’s current number one Maga adviser Elon Musk. He says Musk is pure evil. Just what the Repubs need, infighting.
Gouging LA Landlords are just lowly, heartless looters in better suits.
My older brother always tore the last pages of my comic books and never told me why. I had to draw my own conclusions.
If the average person understood percentages better, they'd really be outraged at the increase in prices. I guess I notice most how little twenty-dollar bill buys these days, I mean $20 bucks used to feel like a million dollars. But then, so did one time long ago a quarter.
I should stop talking about the good old days, because they are gone. They make me appear old. But I'm not old, right. I'm just a happy kid who can't do quite as much. But I figure, we got to live in today ls world. Oddly today's world feels at times like the good old days, like the depression era with more and more people unable to afford a place to live or food to eat. Yeah, times are good now aren't they. Not like the good old days.
Actually I'm looking forward to the Spring to see if everything i planted his fall wakes up the way i hope it will. That will be really exciting
There is always the question of why didn't the Irish turn to fishing for food when faced with the failure of the Potato corp. It's an island with plenty of coast. The reason apparently is because there was a massive “perfect: storm a year earlier which left most of the fishing boats damaged and fishermen idle. Instant fixes were not quite as available back then as they are now.
I Actaully I feel similar to my iRobot Roomba as many people feel about their pets. You only have to feed it dust, and it's always there when you need it ...touching your foot as it passes by, humming softly. And it won’t be as hurtful when the trash man takes away to its final charging station.
In reviewing the last days of Bidens presidency it’s been noted that Americans were thrilled when President Biden ordered an F16 missile attack to destroy the Chinese spy balloon... the first thing he did to combat inflation.
I'm getting a lot of emails from Elon Musk hawking some products or giving health advice.. Yeah, like Elon is really worried about me. What's with the commercialization of the White House?
The Answer:
It used to be that the Ivies was where wealthy parents sent their kids. And they still do, but the ivies' have stressed opening to a broader economic spectrum. So, while there are still plenty of kids form wealth, the average wealth per student is lower. Among Ivies, Brown U is highest ranked but only 22. The top ten are Colorado College, Washington (St Louis), Colgate, Washington and Lee, Trinity (Ct), Middlebury, Colby, Tufts, Kenyon and Bucknell. Another top ten has the same first 7 but a different last there – Georgetown, Bates and Tufts. A third list I found, “Greatest percentage of One Percenters”, has the same a Top Ten as List One, but in different order Washington, Colorado, W&L, Colby, Trinity, Bucknell, Colgate, Middlebury, Kenyon, Tufts. Well, enough of that.
As I wrote the notes about Irish fishermen above it reminded me of this nice tune from Waking Ned Devine. About a woman longing for her lover at sea fishing.
