Beyond the obvious:
Each morn I awake
To a poem in my head,
Lilting
Of flowers in breezes.
Until I think of those
Who awaken to dread.
Before the wide-open Internet we never saw, felt the daily tribulations of those in the dark corners of te world.

So, Trump has just announced a 15% tariff for South Korea. This will be interesting as SK companies are interwoven now throughout the USA – Familiar Samsung, LG, Kia, Hyundai are just the tip of the iceberg here when you consider that SK companies are also heavily into US construction equipment and factory automation among other things. Americans like SK Products and that 15% could loom large. And even more, SK is tightly involved with us on a geopolitical basis. Internally there, we are finding an aspect of SK with a growing dislike of US military “Occupation” as some there call it. Can they afford us to leave? Can we afford to leave? FYI, Pew Research says 62% pf South Koreans are favorable to the US and its tourists. And that favorability rating has declined. So, in addition to economic power what also really matters is the critical location of South Korea, a strategic partner, a buffer against potentially agrerssive anti American forces that abut it –North Korea, Russia and China. Wouldn't any one of those want to crush South Korea. So, in the light of tariff negotiations we must also looking at SK as a critical yet tenuous political entity. Somethings to think about the next time you put on your Life is Good T-Shirt.
(Note: Life is Good clothing items were started by Boston brother entrepreneurs John and Bert Jacobs. The name LG, the mammoth SK company, comes from its founding companies, – Lucky-Goldstar However, LG now refers to itself as “Life;sGood”.)
