For Draining the Brain:
I
had trouble finding a good opener this morning. Because
the negativity of everything that’s going on is so pervasive, and mind-numbing,
I wracked my brain for something pleasantly innocuous. I wasn’t working. A lot
of people voted against Hillary because it was felt that another term in the
Obama tradition would continue the big divide. Now we see that those who didn’t
want the Obama tradition to stop, are adding fuel to an explosion that’s
creating a chasm. The Hillary-ites are morose and angry, and the Trump-ites are
mad that their candidate won’t be given a chance. Actually, it looks a lot like
the late 1960’s all over again where two segments of America didn’t listen to
each other. So basically, nothing has changed: the anti’s still harbor that old
hatred and the silent majority can’t figure out what hit them….and I still don’t
have a good opening that will soothe aching brains…on both sides.
Here’s
something to think about during these head whirling days: “Does
Pluto have a subsurface ocean?”
No
group is madder about this election than the media.
Remember the media, those masked ideologues, where 57 of 59 of their newspapers
endorsed Hillary. They are, and it appears will continue to look for everything
negative about the Prez Elect they can find and over emphasize it in away never
heard before in a transitional phase of this traditional constitutional moment.
Trump has been President Elect for 9 days and they are saying he has done
nothing. At this point in 2008, “O” had been Prez Elect for 13 days and had
done little also, except bathe in the accolades of a devoted press. 0-Man’s
first two cabinet appointments, economic posts, were made on November 24, all
others were made after December 1, with some not coming until well after the inauguration.
Trump is about ready to name his Economic posts. And talk about “disarray”,
Media’s favorite new disparaging word, how about the Balgojevich scandal that
put a stop to appointing Obama’s successor in the Senate. A lot of what the media
dwells on is pure BS, but catnip for angry felines lurking.
BTW,
Trump
has done nothing to make me feel that there is something special about him, but
I hate unfairness with every fiber in my body.
God,
what a morbid opening today.
The
Question:
What is the name of England’s Queen Elizabeth’s
second child? Bonus: Queen Eliz II
and hubby Prince Phillip Mountbatten share the same Great, Great Grandmother.
Who is it? Super Bonus: King geirge
decreed that his daughter Elizabeth would retain the Windsor surname for her and
her children and not change to Phillip’s name. Why?

Have
you read about nanny activists who think it a good
idea to add noise to those quiet hybrids so pedestrians will hear them? Some are
even saying we could add a beeping sound! Yikes! How about this as a safety
suggestion: Remember, “Look to both ways before crossing.”. Who knows, that
could be the first step towards restoring the concept of basic personal
responsibility in a run-away entitlement society.
Well,
the Old Tids Sports Department did well last week and
better than some other well know pickers. 10-4 brings us to 90-57-2. This week
looks a little more predictable, but there are some tough games – Indy-Tenn,
Buff-Cinn, Houston-Oak and maybe GB-Wash, Balt-Dal and Ariz-Minn. Tenn has been
coming on, but Indy may be over their start-up problems. I have a real problem
with this. Indy is at home, but my heart says Tenn. Buff has been good, but Cinn
needs this one badly. Cinn. Houston has been winning and it is hard to say why,
but Oakland looks like the better team to me. Washington will continue Packs
woes. Baltimore is putting it together. But man, Dallas has been a huge surprise.
I have to pick the home team. The Disappointment Bowls has to include Minn and
Ariz. Minn will finally wake up this weekend at home. The rest are Giants over
Bears, Lions over Jax, Pitt over Browns and KC over TB in another real good
game. Miami will take LA, and my Pats should bounce back against San Fran. Finally,
another great game that could easily have been a poser of the week. I just think
Seattle looks too good right now and Philly is just inexperienced enough not to
keep up.
Do
you think Janet Yellen would purposely wait until the election
to raise rates? Nah.
The
new USA Oxymoron: “Law abiding illegal immigrants”.
The
biggest racist group in this country may well be pollsters and
political media experts. After all, these are the people who have created “Hyphenated”
Americans. These are the demographers who have segmented groups by racial and ethnic
similarities and attributed generalized characteristics to them. But all of
these groups are made up of real people with real differences and very real
personalities. Politicians argue against profiling but use it as a way of
political life. Hey congregate people into groups for pandering proposes and
the result is what is killing the USA today – disharmony. Everybody is an
American. How hard is that to understand.
In
the – “where there’s money, people will spend it” department,
I give you an example, which I am inclined to think happens often in this USA.
A person in one benign section of a hospital developed a small infection. An
ambulance was ordered to drive this patient to the emergency ward section of the
same hospital. One of the reasons health care costs, and the costs of all government
funded or insurance funded industries, are so out of control is simply because there
is so much money available to spend. I remember once when my mother was in an assisted
living place and needed a band-ade, They called in a visiting nurse and she
brought a team to suck on the Medicare system. The cost of the band-ade: $1,400!
I complained, and the answer was, “It isn’t your money”
The
Answer:
Queen Elizabeth’s boys were Charles, Andrew and
Edward but her second child was the princess Anne, or officially Anne Elizabeth
Alice Louise Windsor. Bonus: Queen
Elizabeth and Prince Phillip had the same Great, Great Grandmother – Queen Victoria!
Yikes. Super Bonus: Phillip’s name
was German and because of the war King George would not allow a German name in
the British royal family.
Time
to leave, but rest assured I will be spending the day looking
for tomorrow’s better opener. Thanks for listening.
