For a brighter day:
Life
has never been easy, and some days prove it more than others.
And, I’m not just talking about facing the defeat of the Cleveland Indians.
When
shopping, always pack your potato chips last to avoid
crushing. In fact, buy packages of kale and put them in bottom of bag for a
cushioning effect in the event of a fall. When home put away potato chips
safely and use bags of kale around bases of outside doors to prevent winter
drafts.
I
pretty much turn off news programs now. There’s nothing more
to say.
The
Question:
Who was Markie Post?

A
creative reader writes to suggest that The Tids Test
Kitchens taste and review Cheez-it Double Cheese Baked Snack Mix. It is a delightful
gourmet adventure, he opines, a mix with many different cheese tastes and
textures, including one element remarkably similar to a Cheeto. I’m on it.
A
newly reported statistic says that the popularity of
the RI Governor Gena Raimondo is directly proportional to the distance away
from Rhode Island. They love her in China.
I
thought that Obama looked a little manic in his defense of
Hillary; Not cool, a little panicky.
If you tuned into
the morning TV talk shows on Thursday, just about everybody was saying how much
they enjoyed the Country Music Awards. 13.58 Million Americans actually watched
it. 40 Million of us watched the Word Series. Numbers speak louder than talk.
If
you are skeptical about conservative claims that Hollywood manipulates
malleable minds through simple TV programs, all you had to do was watch the usually
funny Fresh Off The Boat this week, which was clearly an episode mainly
designed to support illegal immigration. There was nothing subtle about it.
It always
bothers me when the USA loses a little part of Americana to to foreign
Ownership. The latest to go is Dick Clark Productions. Yes, a Chinese
Billionaire has added the business that grew from the beginning popularity of Rock
n’ Roll in the early fifties when kids were learning to dance more vigorously
on TV Bandstands. It is sad. What does the USA own now…The Kim Kardashian Show?
He Trump tower?
I have to tell
you,
that I was selected to be part of group from my all boys High School which
would join a group from an all girls High school on a big New York City Band Stand
program, Called Ted Steel’s None of us really knew how to dance at all, but we’re
willing to try. Everybody was ready and set to go. Then abruptly, it was
cancelled. I coulda bin famous
The first
baseball game I ever saw was at Ebbits Field in Brooklyn – The Dodgers versus
a pretty good Cubs team starring a super player named Phil Caveretta. But what
I remember most about the Cubs growing up was that they had an outfielder named
Andy Pafko who always killed the Dodgers. I was never happier than the day that
Pafko was traded to the Dodgers. The things that live in the back of your mind!
The journalists
always slip one in
to disparage Republican supporters. The latest I have seen was last night on CBS
News when Major Garret introduced his piece about (a rather good) speech by
Trumps wife with -- “Melania Trump, who plagiarized her first speech…”. When
was the last time a network reporter introduced a piece about Hillary’s mate, “Bill
Clinton, who was impeached…”? That’s just the way it goes, and it happens every
night. But, Dems always say they never notice it…which is simply because they
like it.
Reading Between
the Liens Movie Reviews:
--Hacksaw
Ridge is a WWII movie about quite a remarkable person named Desmond Doss, a
pacifist, who when in one of the bloodiest battels of the war on Okinawa saved
75 men. It is beautiful story about a special man, the first conscientious
objector to earn the Congressional medal of Honor. You will like it.
--If
I was still a comic book fan I’d probably have the same appreciation for Doctor
Strange as audiences and critics who give this one an A+. This is a super entertaining
superhero flick about a disgraced former surgeon who becomes a powerful
sorcerer. Good cast and well executed. If you like the genre, you’ll like it.
--Loving
is a Civil Rights documentary movie based on a true story liked better by critics
than the populace. It’s about an interracial couple who for nine years fight
for acceptance as a couple in their community. It is well acted and well done. Their
case, Loving vs. Virginia, went to the Supreme court.
--Another
highly rated film is The Eagle Huntress, which is about a13 year old girl in Mongolia
training to become the first female in twelve generations of her family to
become an Eagle Hunter. Which I assume was a big deal. This is a documentary bathed
in beautiful scenery.
--Trolls
has especially good music and should be delightful for the young folks, even though
it isn’t a super great animated film.. From the makers of Shrek.
The Answer:
Markie
Post was one of those quasi-successful actresses who go lucky with a couple of
hit shows. She was in Hearts Afire and Fall Guy, but was probably best known as
public defender Christine Sullivan on Night Court. Markie also made it big as a
guest celeb on game shows like Pyramid
and Password. She has one of those names you have heard but can’t put a finger
on it. Maybe that‘s her greatest claim to fame.
Well, off to
find the Cheez-it’s aisle. Should be an exciting weekend.
Have a great
weekend…E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!!
Hug somebody you
love
extra hard this weekend.
