Tulips and Cukes:
Sometimes
the idea of personal responsibility doesn’t come naturally
to many. Even when told how their actions can critically affect others, they
can’t think beyond themselves. In the nineteen sixties, the US Army lost many
good young soldiers during Jump School. One of the problems they isolated was sloppy
packing of parachutes by crews supposedly dedicated to that task – too many
chutes were just not opening. To help solve that problem they ordered that
packers will themselves jump. The instructors would select random chutes from
the stacks of packed chutes. Surprise! The fatality rate plummeted, practically
disappeared. How do we get all citizens to understand their responsibility to
the whole? Will that question ever be answered in a new society that seems to
be enabling irresponsibility. Geronimo!
Robert
Kraft may be winning the legal battles, but fans from teams
across the land will now only see him with his pants down.
If
you rob a bank in a sanctuary city, is it illegal or just
an undocumented withdrawal?
Everything
is
about the 2020 elections. So, basically, I don’t twist my gut into knots paying
attention to Washington DC denizens and their sycophant’s utterances.
The
Question:
There have been several pioneering nurses who helped
transform medical care. Name four.

The
Viet Nam protest era culminated with the SC sanctifying RvW,
which gave us a truly divided American, that seems to be deepening today. The
decision began an era of public discourse which dismissed truths in favor of ideological
stubbornness. RvW became a political slogan for a movement, at the expense of rational
discussion, logically finding agreement.
The
worm knew it was the end of the line for him when he found himself
in a fisherman’s bait box.
Human
Composting, Department:
“My Howard never liked tomatoes, but he produces
beautiful “Heirlooms” today.” “Mom do we have to eat dad, again, today”? “I wish
Dudley was as productive when he was alive”. “Mary, Mary, how does your garden
smell? I know Mary, dad always did have a little gas.”
In
case you are interested, the June 10 episode of the Bachelorette
was filmed around the corner form this seat upon which I sit production the
enigmatic Tids. Let me know what you think, because I will probably avoid the
show.
I
think the NFL has opened a can of worms with this new
requirement for reviews of interference calls. Just when a game is building to
a crescendo, when the chips are on the line, when tensions grip the stomachs of
fans, play will be interrupted by a disputed judgment. The fabs sit and squirm
but more important teams lose momentum. I still say, get rid of video replay in
its entirety. It’s a human game that should include human error as well as human
feats of greatness.
In
case you missed it, China now has more warships than the US.
The Chinese have ben pouring mucho Yuan into the building of a Navy. One analyst
says that they have growing so fast, that they have run out of names for new ships.
China
has 300 hulls to the US 287 and Russia’s 87, UK’s 75
and Australia’s 48. However, the US has a more diverse mix and a superior mass
of ships that can launch long distance assaults. In tonnage, the US has about
three million more tons than the Chinese Navy. For example, the US has 11 nuke
powered Aircraft Carriers versus one, soon to be two, for China. Pure number comparisons
are not quite apples to apples, but it is said that Chana is leaning towards
more apples over oranges as they continue to build.
I
don’t care much for that person Trump, but what I do
care about is American stability, and I worry about this concept that an
election in America is only temporary if you can find a way around the will of
the people and their electoral college representatives. Maybe this movement to
impeach is hangover resentment for the Bill Clinton Impeachment. It is surely
the result of anger over Hillary losing. But regardless, if implemented it would tend
to establish a new precedent that says American elections don’t count. That
there is no foundation left in the great country. That the business of Congress
is getting rid of elected presidents.
If
Muslims want to flee Muslim countries, does that
mean they are Islamophobic?
It’s
quite apparent that Robert DeNiro, like many a star, is nothing
without a scriptwriter. The only word he seems to know begins with an “F”.
Btw,
I don’t go to movies because star’s names are in big
Capital letters. I go depending what the plot is all about. That is, when I make
my own personal choices. Well, maybe I did watch Doris Day a couple of extra times
when I was a teen lad.
And,
good plots that I like are few and far between these days.
The
Answer:
Florence Nightingale is called “The Mother of Modern
Nursing”. Her singular feat was improving sanitation in Hospitals. She also
developed training programs for nurses. Clara Barton fought for the development
of the Red Cross. Prez Rutherford Hayes told Carla there was no need for a
disaster aid organization as there would never be another Civil War. She
persisted and prevailed. Lilian Wald founded Henry Street settlement for the care
of most vulnerable citizens. Lillian Holland Harvey transformed nursing
education. Some other great women in Medical
history: Dr. Evelyn Lauder founded the Breast cancer Research Foundation. Rosalyn
Sussman Yalow, the 2nd women Noble medicine winner, developed
Radio-Immunoassay. A technique that uses radioactive isotopes to measure
concentrations of hormones, vitamins, viruses, enzymes, drugs among many
substances to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Last but not least is Marie Curie,
the first women to win the Medicine Nobel for her work in discovering radioactive
elements.
“Dad’s
growing some mighty big cucumbers these days!”
Bury
me not on the lone prairie, but in garden neath a home bright
and cheery.
But,
that pitch fork really hurts!
