Happy Hearts Unite.

Today's Tids Issue 4,387
DD Day, a sentimental journey:

Tis a sad day indeed, my friends. The actress who lit up theaters across America and the heart of this young lad when in his teens, has died at 97. Doris Day, Calamity Jane, the harried the wife of Jimmy Stewart, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and so much more, died this morning. Ques sera, sera. What was, though, was wonderful. It all began most appropriately with the Les Brown band’s “Sentimental Journey”. And today it ends with beautiful memories. Of looking on the brighter side. Of dancing on the sunny side of the street. Pillow Talk and Move over Darling. Being pursued by Clark Gabel, Cary Grand, David Niven, and Rock Hudson. “I got no diamond, I got no pearl, but still I’m a lucky girl. I got the Sun In the Morning, and the moon at night…Sunshine gives me a lovely day, moonlight gives me the milky way.” “And, with the Sun in the morning and the moon at night, I’m alright.”

Will they still be listening to symphonic classical music 100 years from now. Or will that be forgotten too, like cars with drivers and workers with hearts.

I’m no expert on this stuff, but the way I see it is that when you force importers to pay 25% extra for products at the port of entry, prices for those goods are bound to go up at retailers, which eventually will lead to scary inflation numbers. The Fed governors will jump up out of their ergonomic seats around the long, polished cherry table and raise interest rates reducing company’s ability to maintain affordable credit for capital improvement and business operations, and people’s ability to get inexpensive loans for higher priced cars and homes.

The California Senate earlier this month passed a law that would require that every candidate wanting to appear on a primary ballot to release their fire previous years of US tax returns. Guess who they are trying to bar from running in 2020? Does this sound a little bit off the American-way track? Maybe after the Russia thing subsides, we should investigate the DNA for collusion with California trying to rig an election.

The Question:
Millie Perkins was a hot young child actress before she got caught in the web of Hollywood machinations. This girl who grew up in Fairlawn NJ had seen her prime acting days pass her by without much. But lately she has become the essence of yesterday’s holiday, a mother in pics, having played as one for Sean Penn, Andy Garcia and Charlie Sheen. That is a long way to the question: What was the role, her first one, for which she achieved international fame?

Dem candidates seem to be following Trump’s 2016 playbook, even to the point of using similar messaging, but with a leftist bent.

Oddly, I have noticed that in internet news stories about democratic progressives, I find ads inserted for Progressive Insurance. Do you think that perhaps AI is getting it wrong? Think about how many ways computer oversight of human messaging may misinterpreting intent so wrong.

They dared me to jump off a cliff, but I knew it was only a bluff.

The nation is in gridlock. The Dem House has spent its time launching and conducting 20 investigations while the White House and associates has spent its hours blocking and thwarting those investigative efforts. As we used to say in sandlot baseball when the elusive taped-up slightly out-of-round ball was lost in the bushes, “Just pick it up. We’ll look for it later.” I know, that doesn’t seem to make sense. Neither does exhaustive political redundancy.

Doris Day should have received the Best Actress Oscar for her performance as the Tragic Ruth Etting in “Love Me Or Leave Me”.

Next progressive being groomed for media adulation: Abdul El-Sayed. His first Dem venture was as a virtual political unknown running for Governor of Michigan where he lost in the primary to a popular Gretchen Whitmer. This PHD, MD of UMich, Oxford and Columbia, has the backing of Bernie, AOC and Linda Sarsour.

In 100 years will there only be pulses, and no melodies to lift the soul.

Presidential paranoia of the press didn’t start with Nixon nor has it been it perfected with Trump. In 1943 FDR, “issued a decree that blocked all publishers and media executives from visits to combat areas.” He put General George Marshall in charge of decree enforcement. FDR was mainly after Luce of Time. Ironically, Luce was an enthusiastic supporter of the war effort, but Roosevelt’s decree frustrated and angered him to the point where he became a herd edged partisan in opposition.

BTW, Time Inc was king of the publishing hill for decades. Now the pages of some of the most popular, and influential, magazines in history are flapping in the wind, strewn across the land. The funny thing is that Time saw the downside coming as early returns about the digital world crossed the desks of execs. They even bought AOL. But my guess was that the ole’ paper and ink war horses didn’t take it that seriously -- We’re good, we’re the leader, we can overcome anything. That I’m afraid is an attitude which will be the death knell of many of today’s digital juggernauts, too.

Can you say General Electric?

Ancestry keeps on sending me special offers to basically entice me to spend more money with them. I’d much prefer them pointing me to some key missing limbs in my branches.

Did I ever think I would ever crave for a return of Nancy Lala-Pelosi? I did yesterday when a news photo appeared showing AOC sitting in her Speaker throne as substitute despot.

Every new generation is just a bunch of beginners.

For all of those who can’t understand why the 1950’s were so great, just tune into Doris Day, and Smile

BTW, as I watch AOC, I get the impression that her basic personal credo and historic knowledge was developed by watching TV sitcoms.

Now it is official – SNL is the anti-President of the USA show.

Most all of the Admin people who contradict Trump pronouncements are only trying to preserve their own personal credibility for that time when they are back in public life. Makes infinite sense.

The Answer:
Millie Perkins mad it big for her most memorable role as Anne Frank.

A Sentimental Journey: Remembering Doris Day wouldn’t be complete without:
