It's still up to you:
I
looked through the news this morn and found nothing but disoriented
views, and celebrity quotes and misdeeds; and people in general not using their
brains.
Human
foible-ism is reaching a new apex. Chief among that are people
driving their cars into buildings. Local Police tell me that it is mostly about
texting and/or driving drunk. Or both at the same time.
But,
the real news is found in the tears and prideful hearts of
people who remembered lost relatives fighting for American freedom, and just
folks of all ages appreciating what the military does to protect us all. There
was a thing called “Boots on the Ground” across the harbor here at the 1850’s Fort
Adams. Hosted by Operation Stand Down, it is a memorial to all those men and women
who died in the War Against Terror; all the of the brave who died fighting
after 911. There were just under 7,000 pairs of boots, each with a name and of
fallen soldiers, and an American flag. It was a quiet moment there. The only
sounds were that of nearly 7,000 American flags rippling from winds off the sea.
And Hushed respectful voices. You could see the men and women there who slowly
walked, who silently stood before a friend who they knew or fought beside or who
they watched killed by bullets or mines or missiles. It was a moment. I put up
a new pic of that array of patriotic love at wordviewetc.blogspot.com

Question:
What was the name of the first all color, talking
movie. Who made it and when? Bonus: This
day in 1957 was a blow to my heart and many thousands more in Brooklyn NY. What
happened

Bill
Buckner, a great baseball player and good guy in the clubhouse;
well respected by all of his peers. He died yesterday. I always thought he was unfairly
blamed for the Red Sox 1986 WS loss. From these eyes it was the bullpen
pitchers I saw who blew the potential clinching series winning game, pure and
simple. He became a convenient goat for an unseeing, sensationalizing media.
Wow,
just what we need – an Alexa who can feel your emotions. I
don’t want no stinking machines feeling my emotions. Alexa: “Your emotions tell
me to you really want a new 80-inch TV.” You: “How did this 80-inch TV get into
my house hallway”
Do
you think that perhaps Huawei’s founder wants China to allow
Apple to continue selling and manufacturing in that country because Apple is
Huawei’s research lab?
This
may be happening in your town too. During the summer’s
past when tourist cars attack our narrow city streets, locals had a pocketful of
shortcuts that would get us around the confused congestion. But now with the
sites like Waze, quite neighborhoods have been exposed and assaulted by
speeding cars and even giant semis. Rats! Thank you, AL Gore, for inventing the
internet. What a mess.
There
used to be quiet little places to where we could all
escape…by boat, by car, by foot. But no more now that social networks reveal
our most cherished secrets.
Movie
critic opinions are more often than not diametrically opposed
to those of audiences who actually pay to see the output of Hollywood.
Say
it ain’t so, Dustin Pedroia.
There
seems to be a new trend where people are saying it’s ok to
die if you die doing what you love. Like watching movies on a phone while driving?
Or swimming with sharks or piranhas?
Scott
Pelley says he was fired became he was arguing with management
to be more fair and less intimidating, sexual and all, to all employees. I
always thought this most slanted of newscasters was fired bcause he was being
unfair to conservatives. Silly me.
In
case you missed it, CEO salaries are up 7% to an average of
$12 Mil/year.
Some
experts think the stock Markets are walking a fine
line between growth and Collapse. A cooling global economy couldd be the
culprit. Feeling better yet?
A
lot of companies are trying to get a foothold in the electric
car biz. But, by 1907 electric autos were quite prolific, including home charging
and a solid recharging infrastructure. By
1912, there were many competing electric car manufacturers, with Detroit
Electric being the leader. The most reliable auto electric engine maker was
Elwell-Parker of Cleveland. Those batteries must have been huge.
The
Answer:
In 1957 Major League Baseball approved the transfer
of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants to the West Coast I grew up a rabid
Dodger fan, and because I went for anything that could give the Ya, Ya, Ya
(WUKWIM) fits, I was a big fan of the Red Sox. My heart was broken when my beloveds
move to LA, but I always had Boston. And still do. Bonus: The first All Color talkie was produced by Warner Brothers in
1929 and was Called “On With the Show”.
So
I’m still carrying in my heart the memories of yesterday’s
tributes to our heroes. And that’s a good thing.
