NFL Championships for All:
My
favorite photos are not on line for all to see. But
printed on paper, have tattered corners, images of those close to me. Of days
that used to be. Some are grainy, not
super pixilated, but very sharp with the memories they bring. They aren’t in an
album or electronic file, but piled up, nestled in a corner of a drawer in an old
wooden table, ready to see. I don’t look at them every day, but when do I think
yes, I remember them all very well, these pictures of people and scenes that I
love. And as I look and study what I have, I always to myself agree, indeed, they
are all still what they used to be.
Most
NE fans have known it, but in a recent national
interview, Tom Brady said he’s happy with his less than biggest salary for QB’s.
It’s all about team, and with a salary cap, you need to find ways to pay deeper
into the organization instead of all for one or two. He would rather be surrounded
with layers of good players than to go home and dive into his piles of cash.
Now when I look at local governments large and small, I see a salary cap
scenario for sure. These non value added revenue producing entities don’t create
funds, they just redistribute what is available. And what is available is what the
people they represent can afford to send to the treasuries. So, when one
segment of that entity “wants” more, another segment will necessarily suffer,
and so will the needs of the citizen base that requires that segment. If
taxpayers move out, then over time there is nothing left for anyone. And the city
or town will be sacked.
I
would surmise that most people spend more of their
income and wealth on inflation. And don’t know it.
What
ever
happened to dark chocolate M&M’s?
The
Kate Smith saga tells me that at the rate the black cloud
anti-everything crowd is digging up old dirt, there will come a time in the not
so distant future when there will be nobody dead or alive left who isn’t banned,
disgraced, demeaned or redacted.
I
don’t do, “Reply to all”.
Ok,
let me get this straight. Yesterday President Trump said he
is going to raise tariffs on China by a whopping 250%. NSA Bolton announced
they are sending an aircraft carrier to the Gulf to scare Iran. And US Warships
showed up in the South China Sea near China installations further angering the Big
Asian country with whom we are trying to negotiate. And NK’s Kim who seems emboldened
after his meeting with Putin, began new tests of several short and medium range
missiles. Is the globe that fragile or do people just make it so?
And,
just when I thought we’d be enjoying a happy stock market for a couple of months.

Despite
everything that happened over the weekend, the really big
news with accompanying outrage today is from irate fans of Game of Thrones who are
disturbed after spying a Starbucks cup in Winterfell near Daenerys Targaryen.
Horrors.
Support
your local journalists! The last thing you want is generalized
news from a national behemoth. Every community should have reporters close to them,
who understand the needs of neighborhoods, the quirks and idiosyncrasies that are
so personal. Hey, I just thought -- local politicians around here don’t have a
clue about the needs of the majority of the entire community of RI individuals.
Oh well, it was a thought.

There’s
been a pretty notable increase in big embezzlements
and fraud cases around RI. The excuse given most often for these so-called people
of good standing in the community…gambling addiction. Yes, RI’s favorite new
growth industry and chief plan for revenue development is blackening the souls
of the compulsive. Rhode Island: The Ponzi State.
RI
Officials are dismayed, and actually somewhat puzzled,
that the state is losing jobs as the nation is achieving historic new jobs increases
and lower unemployment numbers. That’s what happens when a union dominated state
legislature drives out strong value-added business in favor of the savior of
third world countries – seasonal tourism. Tourism the great economic myth.

Global
warmers are like religious fanatics entirely intolerant of
anyone with an opinion not exactly like their own. They remind me of the early New
England Puritans who scared the bejesus out of questioners. Those who wondered
why this group who came to the new world for religious freedom yet couldn’t
understand why people questioned their narrowmindedness.
Is
this 2020 campaign going to boil down to dueling disparaging
nicknames? How sad for Americans.
The
Answer:
The great Russia Petr Ilyich
Tchaikovsky was the conductor chosen to open Carnegie Hall, then known a s The Music
Hall. Bonus: Can you imagine trying
to ration items today with the ACLU and other naysayers lurking. Butter and sugar
were rationed as were meat, typewriters, coffee, rubber and gasoline/fuel oil.
Families were issued coupon books each month, and once the coupons ran out you
couldn’t buy them. Substitutes arose like Margarine with the orange pill, for
Butter. Or Spam for meat. Pleasure driving of a car was forbidden. Much the rationing
was due to the German sinking of food ships on the way to Greta Britain.
Victory Gardens were encouraged and many people dove in. I remember the bountiful
crops well. I can still see clearly today walking past neighborhood homes where
the garages were full of crammed bushel baskets. People survived very nicely.
It was great era for unity.
Only
22% of Americans have a clue of about what Cinco de Mayo
means. Actually, it has nothing to do with the US, as it commemorates Mexico
defeating the French at the battle of Puebla on May 5 1862. Basically here, it is a promotion for Mexican restaurants,
guac and liquor.
There’s
the old maxim saying that doing the same thing over and over
again expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Others would say
it is also the definition of practice. The world is all about how different people
look at the same thing.
Thanks to Frazz.
