Petals in the Sun:
When you think about it,
there is little more peaceful nor more beautiful than dahlias in Autumn.
Ah peace.
Is it possible in these days of rancor and distrust? If you consider it
carefully, Conservatives and liberals do have points of agreement. There could be
a way out of the morass. But the new dilemma is that the highly aggressive Progressive
wing of the Dem party give no quarter and surly want to control people’s minds and
manage their hopes. They see no value in any ideas except their own. And right now,
today, they have the megaphones, and it appears a lot of allies in the communications
industries. The progressive side of the Dems’ political slogan is “We do it for
the people”. But it is obviously only for the people they select.
The person who
was able to repair their own gun was a trouble shooter.
Trump’s ability to keep
the presidency could be derailed by the economy, even if the economy is good. The
heartland, home of farmers and those who make USA widgets live the states that
gave Trump the key electoral cushion, are getting very angry over the China
trade war that is curbing their ability to survive economically. It wouldn’t
take many angry voters in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania to derail
his Electoral advantage vote.
On growing older
(From a local sports columnist): “Just when you think you’ve got it all figured
out, along comes a new generation of kids and you have to start all over again.”
The Question:
In what year was the first radio broadcast of a
World Series game, and who were the combatants? Bonus: In what year was the
first TV broadcast from the White House and who was the President.

On my calendar for the week
is a fast trip to Tiverton Four Corners and a luscious Grey’s Ice Cream cone…immediately
after my blood test.
I read a lot of “Letters to the Editor”
in newspapers just to get a flavor of the mood of people. What I notice most is
writers saying pretty much the same ole’ thing, but thinking they have
discovered a new and more clever way of saying Trump is bad…or good…depending on
the writer.
So basically,
there really is not much new to say about the current political upheaval. It’s
all out there in Black and White and Red faced.
If we should withdraw troops
from anywhere, it should be Afghanistan.
You don’t have to be an economist
on Wall Street to realize that Weddings have become far too expensive, not only
for the parents of the wedded, but for attendees too. So, one groom-to-be in Texas
figured it all out. On the day before the wedding he robbed a bank to pay for
the ring and venue. Let’s hope they have conjugal visiting hours.
The lead Pic at the Tids’

for non-friction.
Did you hear about the British
football fan who got a red card for soccer punching an opponent? No? Good thing
– that was terrible.
The big political news coming
out of Wall Street is that Big Money Dems may boycott the Warren candidacy because
of her completely anti-business views. This is the same group who gave $64
Million to Hillary, but are now saying, according to people like CEOs of major
banks and financial institutions, that Warren will get zip. Some have even said
that, reluctantly, they may even have to vote for Trump.
If the developers
finally succeed in taking over Little Compton the world as we know it is officially
over.
Thousands of kids say what they
struggle with most in their young adulthood is paying off the high cost of a
college education. Many people complain that student athletes don’t get anything
in return for the money they generate for their colleges. So, I guess that
means that these players and advocates place little or no value on a paid for
$200K+ education.
Do you think that the bounce
retail sales statistics get in the fall has a lot to do with roadside activity
at popular roadside apple, cider and pumpkin markets?
Could it be Hillary
against Romney in 2020?
There are a lot of laws
protecting children and animals from being left in hot cars with closed
windows. But, how about living, breathing plants?
The Answer:
The first radio broadcast of a WS game was in 1921
and the telephone assisted reporting was between the NY Giants and the Ya’s, Fortunately,
the Binits won. But, I didn’t like the Gnats either. Bonus: Harry Truman
In 1947 gave the first TV talk from the White House.
“Cream”
was a favorite band of mine. Baker their great drummer died yesterday.
