Oops, time to clip my fingernails

Today's Tids Issue 5.660

The test of time:

There are some things you never forget, and the best ones are often simple little smiles.

Talk will subside for a while post-election, but action is getting more active than ever as the reality sets in. Maybe Susie Wiles will hold it all together

The lead headline in my reliable morning news source was, “Who did Joan pick in the Golden Bachelorette Final? Am I still on the same planet? I thought the big news was, Repubs get enough to control the House.

“Most people and actors appearing on the stage have some writer to write their material. Congress is good enough for me. They have been writing my material for years.”  --Will Rogers

The Question:

One of my Favorite Cartoon Series on TV was-- Dudley Do-Right. Name all of teh characters on the show. Bonus: The founder of the impressionist art movement was born 184 years ago today. Who was he? What did he obsess about in later life?

The Headlines:

--Votes From Arizona and California Give Repubs the House Control.

--Wait for Powell Speech has Stocks Drifting; Stocks Still G Hovering around Generational Highs; Trump Sweep Starting to make WS Edgy.

--Trump Adds Controversial Matt Gaetz to of Nominees; AG nominee tops list that includes new add-ons Tulsi Gabbard, - Intelligence, Lee Zelden – EPA, Bill McGinley – WH Counsil.

--Trump Praises Anti Maga Senate Majority Leader Thune.

--Hoda announces Departure from Today and Replacement Craig Melvin.

It's TidsPickin time. Were; coming off a pretty decent week that could have been better if I played a couple of hunches. The TPer’s when 10-4 bringing us to 92-46(67%). There are a couple of real neat games this week starting tonight with The Commanders and the Eagles. The really big game is KC against Buffalo, -- the classic matchup between the Magician and maniacal Josh Allen. The third big game to watch is Pittsburgh and Baltimore. The stars aligned this week for those three. As exciting as it has been for the old Skin's faithful, I think Philly is improving quite a bit now and with Hurts is just too experienced for the younger DC team.  Pitt wasn't supposed to be here and maybe they are a bit of an illusion. Baltimore was supposed to be here and maybe the preseason ranking was an illusion. The Steelers are tough at home, actually always tough. Balitmore played like a champ nipping out a win last week and Lamar is still a force.. Whew. I pick Baltimore. KC has been eking out wins but Buffalo despite the expert's approval have been so-so. Yet Ill pick them to win at home. Holding my breath on all three of those.

Of the rest we have some other tough picks. Lots of teams trying to hang on, get a little respect. That all changes the formula. But first a breather or two, I have GB beating Chicago, Detroit mauling Mac Jones as QB of Jax and Minn getting past Tennessee. New Orleans is a big mystery, but the Browns are a bigger one. I'll take the Saints. Las Vegas has disappointed a lot of people, and I see Miami on the rise now and they will win. What might have been a good game is now suspect as both the Jets and Indy are disjointed. Both have QB problems at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Jets looked like real losers last week. I'll give the dreaded Jets a break at home. Atlanta disappoints more than it elates. I'm really loving Denver now, I’ll let my heart pick this one. Go Broncs. Houston Dallas will be a big Texas affair. Houston looked unbeatable at times last week.slast week. Dallas is still pretty weak in several areas sand didn't get better at QB. This will be a close one, but I'm picking Houston so I can watch Jerry blithering.. San Fran maybe turning a corner. They walloped Seattle last time and now the Niners are better while Seattle is struggling. I just have to pick the Niners even though I'm rooting for Geno Smith.  Cincy at the Chargers could have been listed above as a key game, a clash between better teams. I love Joe Burrow, and he is playing well, But so is LAC and they are at home But I'm feeling it for the Bengals. Bringing up the rear in many ways are my beloveds against a very disappointing Rams team. Will the Pat's D rise up again. Barmore may be back! Can the Pats Score more than in the teens? This is a real poser. I go Pats for two in a row.

Most US Senators are expecting a negative vote over Trump AG Nominee Gaetz. New Senate leader Thune is not a Maga supporter and there are several other Repubs appalled the Gaetz choice

Actually, rejecting Gaetz will be a good thing for the US Congress as the Repub margin in the house is razor thin and even potentially thinner with the loss of Nominees Stefanic, Waltz and Gaetz. A stronger house is far more important than having a suspect AG approved. It takes four “No” votes from Senate Repubs to scuttle Gaetz.

With the support of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion” humor magazine has bought Alex Jones’ “Infowars” out of bankruptcy and plans to turn that platform into a parody of itself “Mocking weird internet personalities who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements. That could be a great feeder of fodder system for the Tids

The real history of the world is about regular people doing everyday things.

By the way, those glimmering red uniforms worn by The Houston Texans last week was visually disturbing to the point that my eyes ached.

I read notes from the PGA and they seem lost. I think the best players have the axe hovering above the head of Jay Monahan saying, sweeten the pot for we who are elite or we're off to Arabia, It doesn't feel pretty. But maybe a merger will be sooner now than later. LIV hasn’t dried up and gone away.

The Answer:

Obviously, I was older when Dudley Do-Right hit the small screen. But thank God for Kids and Saturday morning. Of Course, there was Dudley (Bill Scott) and his trusty horse named “Horse” who his gal Nell Fenwick (June Foray) liked better than him. There was his boss Inspector Fenwick (Paul Frees) and antagonist Snidely Whiplash (Hans Conreid). William Conrad was the Narrator. Bonus: Claude Monet is known as the founder of the impressionist art era. He became obsessed with Water Lillies.

Maybe this will make you smile amidst the daily harangue:
