Today's Tids Issue 5,664
Why the race:
Interesting how life works isn’t it. People are seeing these sunny days with pleasant temps as like maybe bonus days in life. While the earth feels drought and plants wonder how they will survive.
Basically, I need a good rainy spell, so I'll feel less guilty doing nothing.
Tonight, there is, believe it or not, a huge NBA game between the hot, and currently amazing Cleveland Cavaliers and the current NBA champs Boston Celtics. The Cavs got it going now at 15-0 and the Celts have the second-best record at 11-3. The game is at the Gahdin tonight at 7:00. It will be worth watching. The Celts have looked flat at times this year. Will pride lift them up. BTW, tomorrow the Celts will be feted at the White House for their championship. It's better to go in a winner.
After winning the game, I threw the ball into the crowd just like they do on TV. Apparently, that's unacceptable in bowling.
The Question:
The “Mag 7” are expected to have a good year in 2025 but not as outrageously explosive as in the recent past. Who are the Mag 7 now?
The Headlines:
--Dow Sinks as Russia-Ukraine Tensions Rattle Markets; Wal-Mart hits the Numbers and Offers Very Good Guidance; Goldman Sees 6,500 for S&P by Years End.
--Putin Signs New Russia Policy Making Nuclear Retaliation Easier.
--Hong Kong Court Sentences Key Democracy Leaders Benny Tai and Joshua Wong to Jail – 10 and 4+ years respectively; Sentencing resulted from So-Called National Security Trial.; 45 Others to Go to Jail also.
--Five House Races Remain in Limbo; Repubs Lead in 3; Pa’s Dem Casey in Senate Race Down by 20,000 Refuses to Concede.
--Trump Selects Fox Host Sean Duffy for Transportation Secretary.
Like it or not, it's better to push yourself to exercise at some level rather than to succumb to comfort.
“Winning the hearts and minds of the people.”: An old CCP euphemism for organ harvesting.
(Note: CCP is China Communist Party.)
I had a good responsive carpenter here doing some work yesterday. In talking he said that in his 46 years in his company he has seen a lot of changes including poorer workmanship or quality in some products. But he said the most noticeable change to him was the declining integrity of people. Remember how during the election polls were showing people thinking America was on the wrong track. Of course, Politicians usurped that info to meet their own political objectives. But I have felt it is the decline in integrity, increase in rudeness, irresponsibility, lower respect for authority – things like that – that are sending a great nation down the wrong d track.
Trump is too celebrity oriented in his Cabinet Picks. I'll take boring people who get the job done any day.
I'm still not wearing socks as the weather tends to be nice. Actually, I take that back. I put them on one day last week and they scarred my legs.
I really don't like Putin's idea of nuclear retaliation. Nor do I imagine does any sane person this earth. He took steps yesterday signing a new Russian policy which basically justifies retaliation against any Nuclear capable country regardless of whether they fired nukes or non-nuke missiles into Russia. It is a policy against the US and Nato countries for simply arming allies.
The harbors around here are pretty much vacated by pleasure craft. And November has been a very good sailing month with glistening seas and steady breezes. Going by the clock instead of your head does not always produce the best decision.
The Answer:
The “Mag 7” are Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla. The reason we may see a slowing in the power stock runups especially among these super tech companies is because the rich multiples may not be supported by reasonable future financial assumptions.
A woman was smiling during her husband's funeral. Her best friend said to her " It's good that you're remembering your happy moments together during farewell ''. The wife said '' No, it's just this is the only time in my life I'm sure where he's going ''.
I was looking for a good song to end today. I have always enjoyed R&H, and their Oklahoma has some great ones like the rousing title song and another that opens the show and puts a smile on your face, “O what a beautiful Morning”. BTW, I aways Suggest that one for funeral services, hopefully where people would be smiling over all the wonderful moments of the deceased's life. So, speaking of the deceased I'm playing another song whimsical words I have always enjoyed, “Poor Jed is Daid.”
