Losses.

Today's Tids Issue 5,788

Waiting is hard:

Happy Monday, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y! It feels like one of those Mondays where everything should be coming up as they say, Roses? But I'll take a tulip if it's too early for roses. Everything will feel good as we waken to a bright and comforting sun that gently warms your face. And then smiles will turn glum and skies dull grey as you read of an Old Tids curmudgeon complaining about everything. But think of it this way – plodding through negativity will make your next sunny day seem that much brighter. brighter.

Yeah, I seem to spend more time at store customer service counters correcting their exhausting mistakes than buying stuff there.

How surprised was I, and the world, to wake this morning to hear the news of the Pope’s Dying. It seems he called upon every last thing he had within him to guide the people through one last glorious Easter day. He was teh man of the people.

And, what is so hard about making “Spell-Check” more intutitive?

I have always enjoyed watching the Harbor Town Golf Tournament. It must be the lighthouse.

How can any schoolkid not remember clearly learning about the day 250 years ago last Saturday when the regular colonial people stood up to mighty Britain. How can they not forget the lanterns in in the Old North Church steeple and the ride of Paul Revere; the Lexington Green and the bridge at Concord. When a lot of good people finally just said Enough!

The Question:

Quick Now --- Who were the last four Popes?

The Headlines:

--Pope Francis Dies; Was the Strong Voice for those Forgotten.

--Dow,  S&P Getting Hammered; Nas Getting Pounded; Trump’s Powell Bashing Disturbs Wall Street.

--Pentagon Disarray Has Chief Hegseth Position in Jeopardy.

--Russia Launches Huge Drone Attack Following Bogus War Pause.

I love piano concertos, but somehow, I keep coming back to the Rachmaninoff 2nd, especially the Adagio Sostenuto.

Can you imagine kids today thinking, Lanterns in a steeple? Why not just send a text!

In addition to the news about the Pope, RI’ers also woke to learn that their Senate President Dominick Ruggerio died last night too. I wasn't sure about him in the beginning, just another RI hack I thought. But I found me liking the guy as I watched him look out for people across the political spectrum.

What did Spartacus say when the lion ate his wife? Nothing, he was gladiator. Whoops. Don't kill the messenger. Just a humorous addition from one of my favorite punsters.

This has always been a great Massachusetts holiday, Patriots Day, but all-over New England people justify taking it off. The Venerable Boston Marathon (129th) is a center attraction and the Red Sox play a late morning game. There are happy crowds everywhere. Eager runners, sentimentalists. Yet, they will all take moment to reflect on Boston Strong, remembering the day people died and were maimed by heartless terrorists.

I guess one of my pet peeves is that it seems too many people don't realize that whats quite easy today was really, really, really hard in a few hundred years ago. And it made society different. That's just a pure and simple fact.

Easter is a happy day for some reason. The smiles are there in kids and oldsters alike even though not buried in presents like Christmas. Easter says something good about the human spirit.

I was just going to type -- It looks like the economy will be smoldering for a while. But smoldering indicates heat is there. My portfolio doesn't feel hot. You know the old expression where there's Smoke there’s fire. With smoldering there is burning but no smoke I don;t why I started this.

The Answer:

Of Course, there was Francis, The First Francs and Western Hemisphere Pope. The rest are Pope Benedict XVI, Pope John Pual II, Pope Paul, Pope Pius XII, Pope Pius XI, Pope Benedict XV.

Have Magnificent Week, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
