Today's Tids Issue 5776

Billions and Billions, or More:

Well, after yesterday's foray into make believe news for April fool's day, today everything in medialand will be perfectly honest and complete.

I learned yesterday that the best way to rid your head of a song that wont stop humming is to chew gum. Of course, people with unstable teeth will have to endure the tunes for life

The empty seats at the New Snow-White movie probably suggest that “woke" is over. The majority of people don't want their lives rewritten.

The Question:

Speaking of tunes embedded in your mind, there are two jingles still playing in the grey matter -- Pepsi and Chaquita Banana. What are the first two lines of those enduring jingles that for me have never gone away?

The Headlines:

--Trump to Reveal Details of Tariff Day; Stocks Nervous Awaiting Tariff Gunshot Heard Round the World.

--Repubs Retain Two Florda House Seats; Liberal Judge Voted into Wisconsin SC.

--China Carries Out Live Fire Exercises in Tawan Strait Around Island Country Military.

--Tesla Car Sales Down 14%; Stock Goes Up as Musk says His Days in US Government will Wind Down.

It feels like a sunny Spring Day with no wind, but 42 degrees is still 42 degrees.

Politicians are not the heart and soul of any country.

It may just have materialized n Donald Trump's mind, but I have tow onder if the Greenland scenario didn't arise because he watched Season 4 of the Netflix Series about Danish Politics called Borgem. It is eerily similar to to a world cataclysm centered around the worlds largest Island. It's about oil discoveries, Russia and Piutin Oligarchs, China and Canadian influence and environmentalism. And the possiblity of global conflict. Sound familiar?

Exaggerations have gone up in the past year by a million per cent.

This is the era of US government Rarities. Congress has cancelled all votes for this week after an uprising by 9 Repubs to joining Dems to Kill a Repub voting rule Change. Johnson and Emmers were stunned, The stoppage will will slow moving several measures including a vote to stop “Rogue judges who inhibit Trump Orders.

I've read the book on Hyperbole like a million times.

If all the world’s ice melted the landmass would go from 25% to 21% of the whole. It doesn't sound like that much unless you like Boston or New York or Charleston or Florida.

I just planted a Jonquil out back so I could see yellow against the Brown. The deer will probably enjoy it for breakfast.

I'm sensing that the Repubs ig Congress are growing concerned that tariffs could cost them the majority in 2026. You know that reality doesn’t play well in Congress.

I’ve been hanging on before sending this thing out waiting for the Trumpster to tell us about his Tariff plan. Last minute changes?

Who needs rhetorical questions?

The Answer:

The Pepsi jingle was a huge success first appearing in 1939.
Pepsi Cola hits the Spot, Twelve full ounces, thats a lot”. (Coke only had six-ounce bottles. “I'm Chaquita Banana and I've come to say, you say, Bananas have to ripen in a certain way.” The idea of the tune was to teach people how to buy fresh bananas. It was first sung by in 1944 by Patti Clayton. Chaquita Banana, the United Fruit Mascot, was created by Dik Browne who also has given us comics Hi and Lois, Beatle Bailey and Hagar the Horrible

In honor of Global Tariffs, I’ll insert this incessant tune into your brain so you'll hum it in your sleep tonight. Screaming yet? Chew gum:
