Today's Tids Issue 5811
Never Forget:
It's our weekend to collectively remember. To stop a moment, maybe shed a tear with thoughts of all for all of those killed or wounded so freedom lives in these United States. Freedom of thought and action, at the core of what sets our great nation apart from all the cultures of history. Remember those, for their triumphs and sacrifices in foreign lands. Sing out Stars and Stripes Forever. I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy; America the Beautiful. Let our heroes memories live beyond the leaders who come and go.
I think I see sun outside. I'm going for a walk.
Why do we lower flags to half-mast when heroes die, when the flag should be flying high to the havens above.
The bond market is speaking loudly to Senators pondering Trump’s “BBB”. Now, that will be something to watch beginning in June.
Do you think we are building a much higher national energy capacity just because people are buying more toasters? No, it's to meet the power demands of AI and the insatiable thirst of cryptocurrency mining? (In case you forgot, becoming the dominant Crypro mining country is a national objective.)
The Crypto market is where two types of people meet in the morning: People with experience trading and people with money. At the end of the day, they swap places and go home.
The Question:
This sounds good for a Memorial Day party. For what tasty treat is Trusha Yearwood known?

I always get that feeling of a giant hand squeezing my heart when I read of the numbers of US Military who have died fighting battles big and small. They were one day people proud and tall and the next laying in bloody sands or a god forsaken forest. Just in case you forget: Civil War – 698,000, WWII 406,399, WWI – 116,516, Viet Nam – 58,2220, Korean – 36,574, American Revolution – 25,000, War of 1812 – 20,000, Mexican American War – 13,000, Iraq/Afghan - 7,000, Spanish American - 2,061.
It was interesting to read this morning that yesterday the Supreme Court took a measure to protect The Fed and Powell from Firings. Actually, it is too bad the SC has to do that in a free country.
For racing fans, it is a big weekend with the grand old Indy and The Coca Cola 600. And it will be fun to watch Nascar driver Kyle Larson race in both of them. I have listened to the roar at the brickyard for decades on the radio while working in my garden. A last days of May treat!
Cryptocurrency really brought my family together. Now we all live in a one room apartment.
I guess I never ordered the right thing at the Matunuck Oyster Bar.
Isn't it interesting in these days of mass communication how fame can overwhelm reality.?
Last year the WNBA received a huge boost with the drafting of Clarke and Reese. But I doubt if Bueckers popularity will keep the Women’s BB excitement momentum moving. I think one big problem they have is that the league action begins each year when the NBA playoffs are dragging along, after the excitement of the College Final Four has long dissipated. I mean how much dribbling, three-point shooting can you watch. And then they face baseball heating up and the daunting NFL publicity machine revving up. Maybe they should play their game while the game is hot in the fall/Winter. Just a thought.
As one intelligent reader quipped to me the other day: “It isn’t the students who are a problem at Harvard and other colleges, it's the teachings of the professors.”
Apple and Walmart and all US companies have to be left alone to make their own decisions. Period.
I like to walk the streets of towns and fields afar taking pictures of our flag waving brightly in strong breezes. It tells me we are free. We can resist the winds.
I can remember as a kid standing on Broadway in my hometown waiting for the sounds of the frts bands coming down the street in Memeorial day Parades. I still feel the same anticipation.
How many cryptocurrency miners does it take to change a light bulb? All of them. One to do it and the rest to verify he did.
We went to an Italian Restaurant within walking distance of where I live. Nobody had ever recommended it so it was always just passed over. It was truly a great night of eating with super service -- five people all ordering something different and loving what they had. Odd how you can avoid something very good because it doesn't have enough fame.
Why didn't Superman attend the evening meeting about Bitcoin? It was Crypto-night.
The Answer:
Trisha keeps people drooling over her Blueberry Crumb Bars: Preheat oven to 350. Line 8x8 inch pan with parchment and spray non-stick. For the crust: In the bowl of a food processor, combine butter, sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Process until the mixture starts to come together and clump, 1 minute. Remove 3/4 cup and reserve; press the remaining crust mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan. Set aside. For the filling: In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg, sour cream, sugar, lemon juice, flour, cornstarch, vanilla extract and cinnamon until smooth. Mix in 1 cup of the blueberries. Pour the filling mixture over the crust, shaking the pan gently to settle the custard and berries. Pour the remaining 1 cup blueberries over the top, spreading them evenly. Take the reserved crust and sprinkle it over the top of the berries, squeezing the mixture in your hands to encourage large lumps. Bake for 1 hour. Let cool. Remove the bars from the pan and cut into 9 pieces. Refrigerate and bring to Parade in a cooler. Goes well with flag waving.
(Ingredients for above recipe: Nonstick cooking spray, for pan. Crust: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, Pinch kosher salt. Filling: 1 egg. 1/2 heaping cup sour cream, 1/3 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, 4 teaspoons cornstarch, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 2 cups blueberries.)
I'll let this kid George M. from Providence RI bring us home to Memorial Day Weekend. Enjoy it, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y:
