The good ole days seem closer.

Today's Tids Issue 5,795

How great:

It's about time May popped into view. May was always the loveliest month, when unkept promises of April finally came through. It is a soft and calming month. It starts with the sounds of rampaging hoofbeats pounding and ends with a flourish in the roars at the Brickyard. And in between, we can hear all the aaaahs as the blooming magically transforms hills and valleys. Happy May, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

The good news is that Microsoft and Meta did extremely well yesterday in their earnings and especailly their guidance reports. For the health of the economy and an efficient future, their results told us that AI is alive and well. For those who like thinking with thier own brains, not so hot.

I never did well in a corporate environment because I could never sit idly by in a meeting like yesterday’s USA cabinet love fest. Sarcasm has a way of exploding when you least expect it.

The Question:

Steven Spielberg just named what he calls the greatest movie of all time. What do you think it was? Another list disputes andnames their top 100. See how you di naming the top Ten.

The Headlines:

--Markets open Strong riding upon good results from Microsoft and Meta; Apple Beats on Profit and Rev and Forecast; Amazon Beats on Earnings but Kess than Rosy Guidance Worries Investors.

--US and Ukraine Sign Deal That will Give America access to Key Minerals.

--Trump Appointed US Judge Blocks Use of Alien Enemies Act to Deport Venezuelans

--Despite Strong Minecraft Promotion McDonald’s Suffers Biggest Sales Drop in 5 years; Steeper Prices big Part of the Problem.

--Airbus to Deliver New Planes to US Companies in Countries Beyond America.

--Waitz Out; Rubio Acting NSA; Waitz to Get US Envoy to UN Job.

Headline that doesn’t seem to mean much to me: “US is solidifying itself as a main Bitcoin hub.”

I see Waitz and his NSA deputy left the Trump cabinet when it seems that Hegseth is the one out of contrail.

Uranus is the butt of many astronomy jokes.

There is no quesiton that Fed spending is entirely out of control. Many entities in these 50 states including states themselves think that an economy is pleading for federal dollars and spending them. That is a death knell economy. Yet we need to keep pushing to achieve an impossible dream of a manageable debt. One of the bigger problems with the continuance of cuts begun so quickly finding enough congress people who still aren't making outrageous promises for votes. And there are not really aren’t many of those despite what they say. Yes, they are all for cuts until it is cutting their projects.

Yesterday i notes that the new Prez of the RI Senate is also the Prez of the giant Teachers Union here. I read today that she is also the most liberal ever President of the Senate How is she going to be able to waste money with Trump cuts in place.

Pilates is not pie and lattes. Ouch!

Its shorts weather here unless you are in the frozen food section of Supermarkets.

I measure the quality of restaurants by asking the question as I leave: Was that as good as Kentucky Fried Chicken with Gravy? James Baird chefs hate to hear that.

Today, a delight.

Yes, I should sleep through the night.

You always need that.

Every once in a while you have to boil life down into Haiku.

The Answer:

Spielberg says th3 greatest movie of all time is The Godfather. Personally, mine are like Being There. Run Lola Run and other movies with a unique twist. The other list of an all-time Top Ten is from the American Film Institute list: Citizen Kane as Number one followed By Godfather, Casablanca, Raging Bull, Singing in the Rain, Gone with the Wind, Lawerence of Arabia, Schindler's List, Vertigo and The Wizard of Oz. The next ten are City Lights, The Searchers, Star Wars, Psycho, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Sunset Boulevard, The Graduate, The General, On the Waterfront, and It's a Wonderful Life. Ok, let's go to 25 starting with Chinatown then Some Like it Hot, The Grapes of Wrath, The Extraterrestrial and To Kill a Mockingbird. One of my most memorable, "Shane", is #45. #100 is Ben Hur, just after Toy Story. Raging Bullis #4? Yikes.

20 years ago Carrie Underwood sang Heart's tune Alone. Sunday she opened American Idol with that song that put over the top in 2005. It was a secial event.
