It's what glitters.

Today's Tids Issue 5.799

Unbelievable:

I really wish

My days were shorter.

I'm not doing enough

Of what I Oughta.

I like this idea of being tough on crime as long as there is still plenty of due process in case I ever slip.

If a canoe turns over, you can wear it like a hat because it is cap sized. I could be arrested for repeating that from the TPL.

Great! Just what we need now – the first and sixth most populous nations who also just happen to have the Bomb, at war with each other.

The Question:

Name ten famous people who died broke, penniless.

The Headlines:

--Markets Bouncing But Look Strong Mid Afternoon and Closes Higher; Street Cautious Over US/China Talks; Powell Sticks with “Wait and See”.

--India Pakistan “War” Escalates.

Isn't it interesting how things that once were, can change.

The Celtics shot 60 3-Point shots in their opening round 2 loss. Insane.

110 years ago today the Cunard Liner Lusitania with 1,918 passengers aboard. was torpedoed off Ireland by a German submarine. Over 1,200 died. Alfred Quinn Vanderbilt was aiding women and children and in his very last moment on earth was seen giving his life perserver to a woman which saved her life. The US then joined the war effort against Germany

Great! Now Trump is going to rename the Persian Gulf the Gulf of Arabia. There are many people very proud of their great Persian heritage who will be wondering what this man is thinking. Why doesn't he name China, Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia isn’t being used these days. I know, that doesn't make sense either.

Why didn't I think of this for my retirement fund. You may have read that a fan of the U of Colorado football team is suing the NFL for $100 million dollars because they let UC QB Sanders slide to far down in the draft. His suit says, “The NFL’s Actions and the dissemination of slanderous statements have caused severe emotional distress and trauma.” Currently the “Fan is a John Doe. I would keep my name out of this too. Insane.

A long time ago, our astronomers were unable to calculate a new planet's rotation. They just gave up and called it a day.

If you ever wonder if a university can have an effect on a society, just check out Austin Texas.

One red flag that signals the lack of sincerity of Politicians doing the right thing for us is their being vehemently against non-partisan inspector generals. RI is good at things like that.

It was just announced that a new TV reality show on Bravo, “Real Housewives of Rhodie Island is in the works for a premiere in the not-too-distant future. Thousands of wives in this tiniest of states are rushing to lawyers to issue aaffidavits, "Any resemblance to me or my family is purely coeincidendal”.

The Answer:

Number One Vincent Van Gogh whose paintings now are worth millions. Next is Bela Lugosi (A drug Addict), Joe Louis (Income tax issuesgot him.) Franz Schubert, Sammy Davis Jr (Owed 7 Million at death), Wiliam Blake, Herman Melville, Oskar Wilde, Nikola Tesla (George Westinghouse snookered him), Edgar Allen Poe, Steven Foster (Had 38 cents when he died) and Judy Garland, who owed money to everybody. A couple of others were jazzman Charlie Parker and Johannes Van Meer of “Girl with the Pearl Earring” fame. Lesser artists with better known names made the money back then. And Johannes didn’t have the glitter. And they do today – as many a fine talent sits on the sideline while those with questionable greatness but with a great promoter rake it in.

Well, that's it for Hump Day. I hope I helped you get over it.
