Smiling daisies.

Today's Tids Issue 5,797

Confusion:

May is funny month. Yesterday was national Pun Day as everybody was laughing at “May the fourth” be with you. And today is shaggy dog tale day if you remember the good old May 5 story that ends with Sinko the mayo. Are you laughing yet?

Warren Buffet was certainly unvarnished at his annual Stockholders meeting yesterday. Yes, we do live in a global economy where some countries do things better than others.

Berlioz was like the hard rock, metal, grunge composer of the 1830’-40’s and people had trouble relating to him in times of Beethoven Shubert and Weber. But he was perhaps the most inventive of all. It’s tough to be an innovator in any era when what people generally look for is comfort zones.

Maize puns are corny. But eye puns are cornea.

The Question:

VE day is celebrated on May 8. What battle was considered the turning point in WWII Europe?

The Headlines:

--Fed Meets This Week First Time Since Trump Low Interest Demands; Netflix Leads Markets down in Mid-Morning

--Trump Announces Plan to Reopen and Expand Alcatraz for Hardened Criminals.

--Warren Buffet to Pass Baton to Greg Abel at End of Year; Abel Number Two to be Ajit Jain; Stockholders Vote Approval.

--UK Celebrates WWII VE Day.

--Israel Security Cabinet Approves Plan to “Capture” Gaza and Occupy, Moving 2.1 Million Palestnianas South; Israel Calls Up Reservists.

--Trump Orders Commencing 100% Tariff on Foreign Movies to Stop “Death of US Film Industry.

Netflix is leading the market down this morning because the President said he is considering 100% tariff on foreign films. Doesn’t he understand that foreign films ae often the by far the best choices available?

Criminals tend to stay away from our condo development for fear of being chastised in endless email strings.

Trump said Saturday that he wasn't sure about “Due Process”. It's simple. Due process is what countries where citizens just disappear don't have.

What’s a forklift? Food, usually.

This is cool. Aleast it’s new to me. They opened a new USL soccer stadium just a bit north of here. It was rousing success, and I was pleased for the entrepreneur who had to repeatably overcome the typical lack of vision of RI legislatures. But back to the cool thing, They had a great concession area with very good suppliers including Chic-fil-A. And strong local brands. It was an Amazon run area where people swiped their cards when entering and cameras followed them around and charged recorded purchases

Of course, Amazon could make big bucks by charging for not showing food bought to your doctors

A lot of people I know thought Trump hit rock bottom with his unfunny Pope Pic.

The Fed meets this week and will be discussing the rock and hard place quandary before them -- To bow to Trump demands for rate cuts or stand with their ideals for what they think is best for theeconomy.

BTW, Between a rock and a hard place was a common expression in the 60’s - 70’s and I always had trouble making sense of it.

Republican Senators await a “garbled” House Budget whieh One Senators calls a “Sandstorm of bad Ideas. One thing that is guaranteed say knowledgeable observes... The Senat is essentially guaranteed to amend whatever the House comes up with.So while reading of this porposal may cause severe headaches, it is nice to know the obstructionist checks and balances are still alive.

The Cleveland Cavs surprisingly lost game #1 to Indiana. Tonight a truly all time, old time rivalry begins when the NY Knicks visit the Gaaah-den to play the Celts. Could be a great series.

The Answer:

It is generally considered that the Battle of Stalingrad on the Eastern Front where the German Army was utterly defeated and never ever recovered was the turning point that moved the war towards an end. German Military saw the end, but Hitler kept it alive for a couplof years..

The British have a lot to cheer having endured the nightly V-2 and other bombing raids. So, I’m ending with the power of the British National Anthem. We the people still feel the alliance. Besif des I like “God Save the King/Queen”. (Will I have to pay a tariff for playing a foreign import):
