Breaking free.

Today's Tids Issue 4,879

Stay Loose:

This has been a long stretch of crazy good weather. What is Mother Nature going to do to us to get even?

This is the kind of day when your mind meanders.

Maybe you’re walking along sandy beaches.

Or maybe it’s just wherever your mind reaches.

To someone you knew.

A childhood memory delight?

Or wondering how you grew

To be an adult, and kind of turned out all right.

The mind I more wonderful than modern streaming,

Because you’re in control when you are dreaming.

I think maybe tomorrow the Markets will take some profits using the jobless claims number as the foil.

The Question:

When was the first successful TV transmitted image appearance in America, and who made it?

The Headlines:

--S&P Reaches All Time High; Techs Reinvigorated; Yields Steady; New Jobless Claims Up Again To 744K Versus expected 688K.

--Prez Unveils 8 Exec Actions Against Guns.

--M WVa Senator Manchin Reaffirms G his Commitment Not To Weaken Filibuster.

--Florida Gov De Santos Sues US Government To Allow Cruise Ships To Sail.

--Europe Covid Crisis Reemerges Due To Chaotic Vaccination Process.

--Myanmar Forces Continue To Kill Innocents.

The 10 percenters are talking again. That’s the investment community looking for a 10% stock market correction.

The employees of the Local Marijuana Dispensary center has “overwhelmingly voted to join a union”. Probably as a buffer to forestall being fired for getting high on the job.

Trumpers are gathering across the country, and they are serious about getting that agenda going again. And the more Joe B acts, the easier it is becoming for conservatives to join as conservatives again.

It maybe very hard to get a conviction on the expanded charges against Minn Policeman Derek Chauvin. Under pressure from marching groups the Prosecutor I upgraded charges from 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree murder by adding 2nd degree murder. It is unlikely, at least in a court of law where reasonable doubt still exists, that a conviction on the major charges can be won. So, basically this trial is about whether or not Minneapolis and other inner cities get burned to the ground this summer.

Traditionally, the downfall of once world dominant New England manufacturing companies was the incessant demands of the unions which grew to unacceptable over time. Will Pot dispensaries leave us High and dry like textiles and metalworking plants have done in the past? With unions, a plant is a plant is a plant. Or is it?

The new EPA Chief Michael Regan has removed 45 Scientists from the EPA’s “Science Advisory Board and Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee” as being too too friendly to business. Which proves once again that science is defined by who is paying the salaries. What a political morass Americans live in today.

The clerk at the little store who reported Floyd passing a counterfeit bill now says, if only I had never reported it.

Interesting that Blockbuster lost its entire empire quickly to companies how found a better way to distribute movies. One was Netflix which actually made its fame by inventing of all things a low-tech envelope. And then Netflix could have gone the way of Blockbuster as streaming became a better way to distribute movies. But Netflix was smart enough to see the future and fully understand the biz they were in – distribution – and move away from analogue to digital. Now of course, they are practically all digital and much more, and the largest streamer of them all. You don’t have to die with old technology just because it served you well for several generations. You just have to let go of things you think should never end.

Unions may force our educational system to move out of the state as citizens can no longer bear the cost. But no other state would want a system like ours.

The Answer:

In 1927, the image of then Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover was sent from Washington DC to New York City. It was through the facilities of AT&T’s Bell Laboratories, where business people and engineers had gathered for the event.

You can recede into the past or flow into the future. The future will always be there, but the past will warm your heart. I find it interesting to sit and ponder every once in a while. As long as you ponder positively.

Do you know what I’m thinking now? It’s time to get back to reality and get this mess out to you.

Thanks for listening.

You don’t need words.

Today's Tids Issue 4,878

The smelling of the roses thing:

What to do. What to say. My inclination is to say nothing. To wonder why politicians and activists can’t wake to a beautiful sunny day like today and think, it doesn’t get any better than this. And then leave us alone.

Tomorrow will be a sunny day in Georgia we hope. Actually, it is pretty beautiful there even when the sun isn’t shining. Augusta welcomes the greatest golfers for the great traditional Masters tournament. The odds makers have it: Dustin Johnson sits atop the oddsmaker’s list. Tied at second are Jordan Spieth, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm. Next is Rory McIlroy followed by a tie between Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. Four are tied for th tenth spot, Collin Morikawa, Toy Finau, Viktor Hovland and Patrick Reed. Another group of 4 follows: -- Brooks Koepka, Sungiae Im, Daniel Berger and Cameron Smith. Should be great.

I think that it seems as though people in charge of businesses academic institutions and other entities have the right to demand vaccinations. That does not diminish the rights of a vaccine denier to move to another work place of educational opportunity.  It’s like having the ability of moving from state to state if you don’t like one law or another. Like businesses move away from Rhode Island because conditions are mor favorable. elsewhere. The constitution doesn’t protect you from inconvenience, but definitely protects everybody’s freedom to make their own choices.

What is the name of the woman with one leg shorter than the other? Eileen

Inequality began when we started shipping manufacturing overseas in the 80’s in favor of a service economy. That’s an economy which is always built on less skilled workers and working in low value-added industries. We have romanced basically skill less occupations in low margin businesses. But hose are the facts of Life in the inequality enigma era.

The Question:

Name Francis Ford Copolla’s Ten Best Movies (Known affectionately as TBM’s).

The Headlines:

--Stock Markets Ease Into Today On The Up Side; Stocks Drift Through Rest Of The day..

--Video Of Young Boy Abandoned At Boarder Raises Pressure At The White House.

--Authorities Release Details Of Woods Crash; Was Doing 84-86 MPH At First Impact.

--Bide To Announce Exec Actions On Guns Thursday.

--Putin Signs aw That Would Keep Him In As President Until 2036

At least we know that the Woke Folk won’t mov the Masters tournament out of Georgia. But they will try. The left never gives up.

Nothing leapt out of the scree for me on The Voice last night. I liked the last duet, but it was probably because I like Nicks/Fleetwood songs like last night’s Dreams. Cam Anthony seems to be one destined to make it to the finals.

At the time of his crash, Tiger Woods never used the brakes but had 99% pressure on the accelerator. That’s why took up golf instead of NASCAR.

My friend wouldn’t go to the nude beach with me. I think she was being clothes minded.

One thing that any politician should learn -- doing favors or picking liberal running mates with aim of cuddling up to the left rarely gets rewarded with loyalty or support. The only thing that is accomplished is that the pol annoys his or her base.

Where is it written that congress has to continually make new laws. I’d be happy if they all just took vacations. And the President too. We have more than enough laws. By now we must have covered just about everything. Maybe all we really need is a Supreme Court to help us figure out what we actually already have. And the we have the Ten Commandments which covers just about everything averse to a reasonable civilized society.

It’s much easier walking the beaches at low tide. Just in case you are interested.

What do you call bears with no ears?

“B”.

Remember when during the WWII we would hear a siren and we would have to pull down all of the shades and sit in darkness? I don’t know why I thought of that.

The Answer:

Number ten for FFC s Rumble Fish (1983) then The Outsiders, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Rainmaker, Peggy Sue Got Married, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, The Conversation, Godfather II and Apocalypse Now. Number one – Guess? You are right. The Godfather. The Conversation was one of my all-time favorite movies. And I really liked Tucker. Nice to see it was recognized.

I didn’t think I had much to say when I started this mess today, and now that I’m finished it is obvious that I didn’t.

Jilted sports lovers

Today's Tids Issue 4,877

Gym Rat Nostalgia:

You have to wonder how many people found each other again this Easter weekend. Oh, they weren’t lost. But so many just weren’t there for so many days, so many hours. No hugs and only smiles distorted by video transfer.  But the hearts were always there. Joining once again, families, friends and lovers, must have been so special for so many. After being missed for so many months, the missing stopped and smiles met smiles.

I am one of those who feels that the Covid thing has made big government people very happy. It allowed them to control the independence of the citizens. You know citizens, the people who elect those who are responsible only to citizens. Now there is another blossoming controversary – Requirement for vaccinations to travel, be admitted to entertainment and sports events, play on teams, to go to school, and – work! To show certificates in order to participate in every day normal activities. That seems like new opportunities to over control human behavior. Yet for safety’s sake it is probably the right thing to do. And I suspect most people would make that decision on their own, preferring inoculations all over just to feel comfortable in our new hyperbolic society. But many of the people who are for the official vaccination certificate idea are vehemently against having people prove who they are before being able to exercise the right and privilege of voting.

Actually we probably don’t need ID Cards for anything  at all, because some guy In a dark cellar in Kuala Lumpur knows a everything about us and will b voting and traveling for us as us.

The Middle Ages were called the Dark Ages because there were too many knights.

The Question:

So, last night we wrapped up the ubiquitous  college basketball season for another year. Who were the last ten Men’s and Women’s NCAA basketball champs?

Having baseball teams run by l Algos is like the 80’s and 90’s when engineering decisions were made by accountants. It was an era that sucked the life out of a lot of good American businesses. Will the Algos (Stats whiz kids who are algorithm savvy) make player decisions over the heads of baseball people including on the field managers? What ever happened to the good old fashioned hunch.

Mississippi: What you call the wife of a hippie.

I see where Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will be meeting with the Global heads of state to argue for a global Income tax on all corporate profits. This is an effort to stem the an expected outrush of US companies to cheaper tax havens after Joe B raises the USA corporate tax. I don’t like being a part of centralized global society any mor than I like the idea of people forgetting about the foundation of the US government – States Rights.

BTW, as a little sweeter, Yellen with tell the folks across the globe who are fearful of eth damages to poorer societies and resultant chaos that the US will provide $650 Billion to help countries that fall into post pandemic extreme poverty which potentially could unleash mass migrations to wealthier countries..

America companies trying to reopen are finding it hard to get former employees to give up the life of living without working off of USA stimulus largess.

There was kidnapping at a local school yesterday. Don’t worry, he woke up.

As a good conspiracy theory guy with lots of great conspiracy theory friends, wouldn’t it be possible for governments to declare medical emergencies in the future and create vaccines that would wipe out opposition citizens. Or vaccines that would only leave multitudes of sheeplike people who would be easily manipulated by ideologues. Of course, they already have a mind control system – Hollywood.

They have already come out with 2022 preliminary College Basketball Rankings. Number one is UCLA, that is if super shooter Johnny Juzang doesn’t opt for the pros. The other big change affecting roster improvement or disaster, and of course teams ranking, is this new Transfer pool where kids now regularly leave teams in search for greener pastures. Yes, another step towards the loss of fan interest. The rest of the top Twenty for next year are Gonzaga, Alabama, Duke, Baylor, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan Perdue, Kansas, Villanova, Houston, Maryland, Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, UConn, Mich State, Saint Bonaventure and #20, Tennessee. Place your bets.

I’m trying to learn how to concentrate while typing so editing doesn’t take so long.

You know you are having a bad day when you are on your morning walk on a brilliantly sunny day and you find that all the flowers you want to photograph are in the shadows.

I admit, I drink brake fluid. But I can stop anytime.

The Answer:

For the women, the last ten were: Stanford, Baylor, Notre Dame, South Carolina, UConn, UConn, UConn, UConn, Baylor and Texas A&M. For the Men it was, Baylor, Virginia, Villanova, North Carolina, Villanova, Duke, UConn, Louisville, Kentucky and UConn.

I understand college sports has gone well beyond rooting for kids who went to college playing against kids who went to college simply for pride and glory. I understand ballplayers on pro teams have the right to migrate wherever better opportunities may emerge. But it is getting a bit absurd as I find myself w rooting for uniforms and promotions at pro and college equipment stores.
