Life is simpler than we think

Today's Tids Issue 5,643

Oldies are always good:

Somehow just being alive out there on a fall day may actually be all we ever need to strive for. Big government will never improve on that. But they certainly know how to make it more complex.

There’s a lot of crapolla being tossed around in these campaigns, but one fact I can attest to is that Kamala is vastly out-advertising Trump.

Scientific research continues to attempt to quantify the universe finitely. But I don't feel it. Yeah sure. Like my feelings will mean anything to the most brilliant minds in the expanding universe. Until the vastness collapses and the holographic dark energy is whisked away as dust I still don't feel it.

They say the universe is expanding. That should help with traffic.” --Steven Wright

The Question:

Over 3,000 people voted on their favorite soups. What do you think are the top ten?

The Headlines:

--Tesla Q3 Earnings Excellent, Up 17.3% over Last Q3; Good Results Has Nas Up but Dow Unresponsive.

--LinkedIn Fined $$334 million for Not Adhering to EU Privacy Laws.

--DoJ Warns Musk About $1,000,000 Campaign Lottery.

--Both Campaigns Exerting New Effort on Gaining Hispanic Votes.

I keep on losing pens like the proverbial missing one sock.

Well, the TidsPickers had a good week last week going 13-2. Thanks a lot Facons and Chargers for blowing lead. We are now 70-38 (65%). This week on paper looks quite doable, but you know the NFL. Games I'm looking forward to as being meaningful and close are Seattle-Buffalo, Minn-LA, TB-Atlanta, Dalas San-Fran and, who woulda believed it, Chicago and Washington a meaningful tussle between two suddenly decent teams. Buffalo is like that little girl with a curl. Seattle keeps on surprising. I'm picking Seattle today. Minn lost their first. Were they on a magic carpet ride or were they really good losing to a great Lions team. The Rams are another mystery team. I'm going with the Vikes. Both Atlanta and Tampa Bay have disappointed me week in and week out. TB lost two great receivers, So I’m hoping Cousins can get it Foden. Atlanta. (Ugh) Dallas is an enigma, But Brock Purdy looked edgy last and now this week he has lost two of his best pass catchers. And there is still no McCaffery. I hate picking Dallas because they know how to blow it. But I will. I think Bears Skins game is a toss Up. I have a better feeling about the Washinton team with the former great nickname.

Of the rest, I go Baltimore over a depleted Cleveland (Normally a key division battle), Detroit way over Tennessee who threw in the towel this week, Houston Nipping Indy and Green Bay bringing the Jag's one game winning streak to an end, I haveto go with Arizona over a still struggling Miami. They say Jet’s Rogers is hurting, but so is the New England D. I'm going to pick the Patriots in a mindless heart filled decision. The Saints and the Chargers could go either way. I'll go Chargers. I like Denver and am picking them over Carolina and for sure KC over Las Vegas. I think Pitt and The Giants could be fun, but I have become a Steeler believer. Another game that has meaning and should be on the critical game list – Philly and Cincy. Philly had been very hard to pick lately and Cinn has gotten past the hard picking of their early season. I'm not sure which is there yet, but the Bengals are intrinsically better and are at home. I go Burrow.

Now what! I don't feel like writing about politics. Maybe I'll write a romance novel. Know anybody who has time on their hands to wade through a hack nov.

I watched the new Matlock last night and found it hard ot enjoy. Most of the characters talked too fast and the mystery part was skimpy, and frankly, I didn't care about it at all.

The inside scoop from an old TV guy who really knows the inside scoop: Ken Jennings and Jeopardy ratings are the same as when Alex Trebek roamed the stage. And over at the Wheel, Ryan Seacrest seems from a ratings point of view, to be filling Pats shoes well. But Pat made me laugh more, that is for sure. It must be that Vannah is the continuity holding it all together.

I find LinkedIn more annoying than most internet annoyances. It keeps asking me to add complete strangers to my list. I guess I don't get social media.

Yesterday I talked about how the lowering standards is my biggest complaint about the direction of the USA. Another concern that I think is on a disastrous path is giving up your privacy so internet companies can use your unique characteristics to make billions. In can't understand why anybody would want to give up their privacy to complete strangers.

That is why I always tiptoe past Alexa

The US may fine Musk $10K because of his Million Dollar give-away. Yeah, that’ll hurt him.

The Answer:

Number one is good ole’ Chicken Noodle. The we have Beef Stew, French Onion, Chicken, Clam Chowder, Chicken Dumpling, Ramen, Cream of Potato and #10 Cream of Cheddar Broccoli. Going on we have Chile Con Carne, Lobster Bisque, Wanton, Vegetable, Gumbo, Tortilla, Chicken Rice, Pho, Beef Barley and Mushroom (Which will never touch my lips). Other soups in the twenties are Minestrone, Beef Noodle, Cream of Chicken, Miso, Italian Wedding, Corn Chowder, Pea and Ham, Lentil, Butternut Squash, Split Pea which i truly hate and Egg Drop which I truly love.

I Always liked Harry Chapin, sadly killed in an auto accident on the way ot a big charity event on Long Island. But this song for some odd reason always sounded like fun to me. Maybe you’ll smile with me.
