Today's Tids Issue 5680
Open eyes:
A happy couple was once celebrating their first anniversary...And during the entire celebration, the husband carried his wife on his back. When a friend asked why he was doing this, the man replied, "I'm a turtle." The friend then asked about his wife, to which he replied, "Oh, her? She's Michelle."
Being anti America seems to make sense to too many people.
Did you see where the Taylor Swift Corporation divvied up $197 Million for distribution to her employees working on the recent super successful Eras tour. From up to $100K to each of truck drivers to thousands for every participant -- stage workers Merch team, Choreographers, carpenters, security, riggers, dancers, everybody who took part in the massive effort... in addition to their regular salary. Remember when workers and corporations were loyal to each other. Maybe that is an idea that still could work, but a lot of minds would have to be changed. And social media disabled. 10,168,008 people attended the tour live and it produced 2,077,618,725 in just ticket sales
There will be a lot of factions seeking to emerge as the winner of the Syria sweepstakes. And some seem like bad options for an oppressed people finally seeing daylight.
How about that... Trump named Time Man of the Year. Elton John was named “Icon of the Year". Say what? And Caitlin Clarke the Athlete of the year. In addition to the sports promotion vehicle of the year. Elton John is like the Betty White of 2024... being lauded everywhere.
The Question:
Who wrote the words to the Christmas Carol; I heard the Bells on Christmas Eve.
The Headlines:
--Markets Soft Following Iffy Inflation Numbers; Swiss National Bank Cuts Interest rate by 50 Points.
--Biden Goes on Pardon/Commutation Spree.
--Luigi Mangione X Charged with Murder; Donations pour in for his Defense.
--Bill Belichick Hired by U North Carolina.
--Elizabeth Warren Proposes A Bill That would Shift Capitalism Away from Rewarding Shareholders.
America has made Luigi a martyr. There are not just factions in Syria vying to gain control, we have them here too. Mangione has already received 1000’s of donations to support his anger at the USA. There is a “Merch” site hawking LM stuff for sale like hats with the words “CEO Hunter” printed across a bullseye. Wanted Posters with faces of CEOs are appearing across the web. We can't laugh it all off. Tere is a little war bubbling just below the surface.
People who have worked with Taylor Swift from the most glamorous stars to hundreds of hardworking singers, actors and comedians marvel at her dedication to excellence and her unique ability to create the perfect moment for the perfect moment. I couldn't tell you one song of Taylor’s, but I do appreciate great people perfecting their careers, even on occasion a celebrity or two.
Last week TidsPickin’ coulda bin better. I disregarded a couple of hunches that went the other way. But 9-4 last week could be better than this coming week which is loaded with posers. We are now at 133-61 (68.5%). Would be nice to get to 70% but this week may not help. Tonight's game is a mystery for starters. LA Rams are getting better and Beat Buffalo last week. The Niners showed life last week and still have a great coach. I'll go Rams. I normally break it into important games and mediocre games. But they are mostly important now or two close to be mediocre. So I'll get rid a of a couple of easier picks first and there are really only two -- Minn over Chicago and Baltimore over a really hapless Giants team. I believe almost all the other games could go either way. And some games are immense. Buffalo is up against it again in Detroit. The Lions are resourceful land tough. Josh Allen is resourceful and tough but just one man. I'm picking Detroit. Green Bay at Seattle is very important and I haven't a clue. I think Gt ren Bay is a better all-around team but then Seattle surprises. I'll take the Seahawks. The Pennsylvania Instate rivalry is a fun game to consider. Not to mention that both teams are atop of their divisions. I'm picking the Eagles, but this is another toss-up. Guess what though, the Jets and the Jags is a tossup too in a game that means nothing. Aaron Rogers versus Mac Jones. I think the Jags will win. Another meaningless tossup is Carolina at home against the Cowboys. I'm picking the Cowboys. KC based on their record should beat Cleveland, right? But KC is squeaking by and the Browns show some decent offensive moments at times. Or is that just offensive at times. KC e will continue to find two extra points
Moving along. We have Miami and Houston in game that as some meaning. Houston has been hard to watch this year compared to last year's heroics. I think I'll go Miami. New Orleans has a shot and so does Washington, As good as new Coach Rizzo has been, I’ll stay with the Commanders. Sometimes the Titans look ok and other times not. Cincy still has a shot at the playoffs. They will beat Tennessee. Atlanta has a shot but the Raiders are nowhere. I still see this as a close game but gotta go Atlanta. Tampa Bay is also hanging in it, but the Chargers have a better chance. They won't lose three in a row. Indy and Denver are both in it. I have loved Denver this year and Indy not so much. I'll stay with the Bronc's That brings us to a really nowhere game -- New England out in Arizona. Arizona is in it but New England is trying earnestly to find something and will make it tough. I'll take the Cardinals.
That Elizabeth anti-Capitalism Warren Bill looks like it's right out of the Kamala Harris playbook.
We have two Alexas in the house, so we whisper a lot.
Why do people a think its ok to go into debt for Christmas.
The Trump plan for deportation is a simple one – send them back Jaun by Jaun.
I may be predicting the College football games tomorrow. They all look like toss ups to me. The dripping sweat may short out the computer.
Sorry, I got into a rage today. But this support of Luigi thing makes me realize how super deep this divide is. These protestors to me have always looked like propel with nothing to do on weekends. But it appears there are a lot of people would like America another way.
When the government says they are going to fix the housing problem why do ai always look at stark apartment buildings in Moscow.
A Genie once granted me one wish, so I said “I just want to be happy”. So now I’m living in a little cottage with 6 dwarfs, working in a mine and singing, “Whistle while you work…"
The Answer:
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote those words.
They were based on sadness. He had been in depression since his second wife had died when her dress caught on fire right in front of him of him. He was severely injured trying to save her. He was discouraged by a nation fighting itself, The Civil War. When his son wounded in the war came home, he decided to put Christmas in perspective with a poem. He heard the Christmas bells ringing in Cambridge and the singing of “peace on earth, good-will to men” but he observed the world of injustice and violence that seemed to mock the truthfulness of this optimistic outlook.
The Words;
I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play
And mild and sweet their songs repeat
Of peace on earth good will to men
And in despair I bowed my head
There is no peace on earth I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men
Then rang the bells, more loud and deep
God is not dead, nor does He sleep
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men
Then ringing singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
