Today's Tids Issue 5,684

Contemporary illusionists.

Wall street is not looking happy to this old observer. Nvidia slippage combined with a nine-day loss record for the Dow starts to smell like correction territory. Couple that with today's hopeful Fed rate reduction likely being the last for potentially the foreseeable future, and you have to wonder what excuses wall Street denizens will use to play the stock market yoyo game.

Of course, we do know what they will play well – the vagaries of Artificial Intelligence.

The news agencies are in Holiday mode because all I’m seeing are soft feelgood stories. I mean I like to feel good, but I know there is more gogin on than Arnold Schwarzenegger looking good dressed up in a Santa suit or Jelly Rolls Weight loss journey.

Do female robots have a computerus?

A new Axios Survey of a1000 USA voters shows that 41% of voters between the ages of 18-39 believe that the coldblooded n murder of Health Exec Brian Thompson was acceptable or somewhat acceptable. It's time to get off the planet. Overall, only 62 % of voters found it unacceptable.  Now that is unacceptable for a civilized society.

What do you call Mexican American robots? Tex Mechs.

One of the biggest and growing costs of our Christmas celebration is shipping Christmas gifts. It was better when your kids didn't move halfway around the world. Global curiosity is great except when comes to giving Christmas presents.

Shyster Report, Department:

During a timeout At a Charlotte Hornets' NBA game, the team mascot waled happily hand in hand with a 13 yo boy to center court and then read a latter about the boy's wish for a PlayStation 5. With that a cheerleader ran out with a bag in it was the PSS5. The boy glowed, was ecstatic. However, when the camera was turned off, the cheerleader took back the bag and gave get lad team jersey. Now that is creepy stupid. And not acceptable.

If anybody is interested, Milwaukee beat Oklahoma City last night to take home the NBA Cup, a so-called midseason audience hyping tournament with next to no meaning. Nobody cares but the gamblers

Donald wants to get rid of daylight-Saving time. I'd get rid of normal time. Most people prefer the extended daytime sunshine. This fits because everything now adays is about getting used o a new normal.

When I was a young man in in Army Cadets, we had big ornamental robot that we called ‘old-iron-sides’ with a big brass bugle that would play all the calls to the troops. In the morning it would play ‘reveille’ to wake, ‘mess call’ for meals, ‘drill call’ to assemble in the square, etc. We all got so used to these queues that we relied to them to know what to do at each time of the day. Until one day iron robot was silent and everyone was disoriented, not knowing when to get up, go eat or start a drill. Finally, I went to ask my commanding officer why there were no calls. He said, “He’s taking a vacation day”. So I guess it was the "Ferrous Bugler’s" day off.

The Dow 9 consecutive day losing streak is the biggest since 1978! One reason perhaps is the dominance of d Dow component Nvidia which has lost big in the past couple of weeks. Indexes are supposed to be balanced, not dominated

Subservience is an odd little AI movie. Not a great one, but it sucked me in because I like movies about devious robots an out-of-control AI.

Why do so many robots live in Africa? Because Botswana.

The Answer:

Number One is Industry. (Max), Next is A man on the Inside (Netflix) and another from the same network Black Doves. at Three. Going on we have Colin from Accounts, Say Nothing, Slow Horses, Rivals, The Day Of the Jackle (Update of 1971 Version), The Diplomat and Feud: Capote vs The Swans. This is from BBC News. Some others in the top 20 are Shogun, Baby Reindeer, Fallout and Ripley.

In 1950 Leroy Anderson created for the Boston Pops a wonderful piece of seasonal music called a Christmas Festival. A friend of mine and I thought it was the greatest. Yesh, we were like that back in 1950. It went on to become popular. I still think it is great.
