Bewilderment.

Today's Tids Issue 5,981

Turn  the Dial:

Have you noticed that when you get into a group of friends or even acquaintances there is so much more interesting things to talk about than polcitics. Yes, life does go on while the Politicians continue to do anything that makes them appear relevant.

Before my visit with a Doc this morning the nurse went through the usual questions and data acquisitions, The last question was, “Do you find yourself feeling tense about anything?” I immediately said, “Yes, the Patriots game on Sunday. We laughed. But she was a big Pats fan and assured me they would win.

Well, another magnificent reentry of a SpaceX craft returning astronauts due to a medical emergency. But, it seemed odd to me that the person suffering from a serious medical issue had to go through hour a splashdown. Let’s hope Elon is working on that one.

This Greenland thing is playing out like a big kid in a schoolyard who wants another kid’s brand new lunch box. Think about this – what if Japan says to us, we need Guam so China and Russian dont get it.

What state is known for its small drinks? Minesota.

The Question:

A wealthy, respected British citizen arrived at the Sydney Australia airport. He was asked the usual customs questions, ending with., "Any criminal activity.” He answered, “Is that still a requirement? What's the point of this joke?

The Headlines:

--Markets Strong all day as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Soar on Dealmaking; Techs Bounce Back Based on TSMC’s Healthy Outlook.

--6 Major European Countries Deploy Military to Greenland in Wake of USA Threats

--Fragile Agricultural Business Has Farms sufferings, Equipment makers Cutting Back; Three Years if Weak Prices and High Production Costs Have Farmers Walking.

--Fed Prosecutors Reveal Large Point Shaving Scheme Among 16 Colleges and 20 People Including Ex –Players; Players Paid $10-30K To Fix Games.

On a brighter side, there is a full slate of excellent NFL playoff games set for this weekend. The TidsPickers were 6-0 last week (Thank you Bears). But this week looks much tougher. Tune in tomorrow for the picks.

“We need Greenland so just give it to us” just doesn't compute within my ethical behavior meter.

One major reason College and Health care costs became so astronomical is because the US government created pots full of money which made working efficiently to hold down costs unnecessary; which negated the need for rational purchase decisions.

Why do seagulls fly over the sea? If they flew over the bay, they'd be bagels

It will be comforting when the angle of the sun’s rays moves higher

The only way to avoid scams is to not open anything that looks either weird or too good tone rue.

People see want they want to see, believe in what conforms to their beliefs. Tha’ss why the truth often goes missing.

Why is a swordfish’s nose eleven inches long. If it was twelve inches, it would be a foot.

This is one of those weeks where even while I'm typing away, my mind is anticipating the Pats game this Sunday

I need whimsy today when lately all of the news has gone beyond understanding for a simple man like me.

The Answer:

In 1788 Britain and Ireland began sending prisoners to Australia to to alleviate their crowded prison systems. Many had been sent to the Americas before The United States stopped accepting them. Over the next 80 years 162,00o or so prisoners were deposited, and were the first Europeans in that country. Others came to develop the land, and convicts served as labor. Having prisoner as an ancestor in Australia is a badge of honor today.

Is it Saturday yet?

need a respite?
