Hold on. ,,

Today's Tids Issue 6,973

363 to go:

Well, we're well into the new year and everything seems to be holding together so far. One day at a time, that's the strategy, right.

I was happy when the SC came down on the side against troops in the streets of US cities. And now even happier now that the Prez has called it off. That would have been a terrible precedent for a nation based on freedom for all and limited government.

Ohio State was manhandled by Miami in the first hael and contolled just enough in the second half to give Miami a huge win and for the average fans the happiness of watching favorites fade.

I still wish Bradly Coopers’s Character came out with a better fate in a Star is Born.

The Question:

Most of us see the thirteen original colonies as one giant mass flowing through America’s British Colonial History. But they became states over a period of four years, not all at the same time when Congress drew up the constitution. Name the order in which the 13 original colonies became a state.

The Headlines:

--Mourning and Anguish Overtakes Over Swiss Alpine Town of Crans-Montana.

--Following Trump Threats, Iran Says US Troops are Legitimate Targtes.

--Markets Soft on Slow Holiday; Tesla Sales Fall for Second Year.

--Based on Projected US Treasury Rates Mortgage Rates Expected to be Similar as Today in 2030.

--Tommy Lee Jones Daughter B Victoria Found Dead in SF Fairmont Hotel on Jan 1; She was 31.

Ready for some hot IPO’s? How do SpaceX, Open I and Anthropic sound to you. Not that I;; get onteh primo list.

I remember as a kid siting tough tedious acts at the big circus waiting for the clowns. That was always the best time for me, watching the antics and laughing along with the roaring audience. I still wait for the laughs. And it still feels good.

Well, this is the last regular season weekend for the ole TidsPickers. We were 10-6 bringing us to 166.5-84.5 (66%). Slipping, slipping. Need a big comeback week which will be especially hard this week with so many teams playing for so much Teams are playing both for playoff seeding and division championships. It's really close in the NFC west and NFC South. And AFC South and North. And there is the Number one seed in AFC between the Pats and Broncs and maybe the Jags. And over in the NFC between the Niners, Rams, Seahawks and Bears. Like there is a scenario for everything. Crazy isn’t it and the NFL loves it and the ratings draw.

There are four key head-to-head matchups – Niners-Seahawks, Panthers-Bucs, Denver-LA Chargers and Ravens-Steelers. The Niners can win it all with a win, and I think they will. The Bucs are still alive but are the Panthers good enough to put them down in this big final matchup. The Bucs will surprise. I like the Ravens to beat the Steelers and take the division. The Chargers have been compelling and are in it for a good seeding and in this game a win by them will give the Pats a chance at number one. And maybe the Jags. But Denver will beat the Hebert-less Chargers. Two great coaches battling there. Texas is playing as well as anybody and keep their hopes alive for the division with a Jags loss. But the Jags also on fire now are playing the rejuvenated Titans. Sounds interesting but Jags will win it. The Bears have a tough final against the Lions but there is something missing in Detroit and the Bears are really very good. The Bears win it for a good guy and great fan wo passed away last September. Green Bay needs a win to get in but I don't like them. I like Minn now.  Finally, to keep pace and have chance at overall number one seed, the Pats have to beat Miami. On paper, it looks good. But NE sill has injuries, and a couple of very key guys just charged for crimes. And Mike McDaniel would love to rise up and save his season of disappointment. I have to go with my guys, or my kids would kill me

Of the rest, there isn’t much there. The Bills and Rams really need wins for seeding, and they will both do it easily against the Dismal Jets and Cardinals. Philly should beat the Commanders unless they rest everybody. But I'll stick with them. Believe it or not, Teh Falcons still have a small shot, buts the Saints are playing very well and Ilike them to win a pretty good battle. Another game that means nothing could be very good too the battle of north and south Ohio – the Bengals versus Browns. Tough pick but I go Cleveland. Who would have every thought that back in July a game with the Chiefs would mean nothing. Even as bad as they have been playing, they will take the Raiders. And finally, another rivalry game  the New York Football Gnat against Americas team, the Dallas Cowboys. Why are the cowboys America's team. I think the Giants improve their draft choice

Paul Simon was better with Garfunkel. But Paul Simon fanatics would tar and feather me for saying that.

For an early NY dinner, we went to a classic Rhode Island restaurant whose great name has been buried with the rise of the “foodie restaurant. It was packed and very good.f

New Years Day has always been the slowest day of the year.

This fluffy snow we’ve been having is bad for snowmen – and snow women of course.

One thing I have learned is that Cheese Ball snacks roll... out of my hand, down the chair, across the floor to a point on a rug right under where my foot will take the next step. Crunch. Yikes!

The 2,3,4 CFP seeds went down New Years Day and I say it is one of the best things for college football. Not only that, but Alabama  got smooshed severely by the Indiana team I believe everybody but the SEC would love to see winning it all. Yes, Thursday was very good for College Football.

Now that Trump seems to have gas pricing moving down, I'm hoping next he deals with Lobster. Though, lower gas prices should make hauling that crustacean much cheaper. I'm not holding my breath.

The Answer:

Delaware ratified the Constitution first and is the first state. The rest in order are Pennsylvani , New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina and Rhode Island The process spanned the years 1787 to 1791.

Have a great Weekend E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

Here's a nice song which maybe a good one for 2026:
