Never too early.

Today's Tids Issue 5,980

Depth:

I’m already hearing of talk and about lots of planning for the celebration of eth 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. The big bash centered around freedom is scheduled for July 4th 2026, focusing on the Declaration of Independence of 1776. As we all know that was primarily designed to cut any ties between the Colonies and British rule. It spoke of Naturel rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Of Note it also said firmly, “Governments are instituted to secure these rights deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,” That's why we’re celebrating us, Charlie Brown. So basically, what I'm saying, let’s hope the celebration is about the people and not the government.

In today's world it is easier to write a novel when you realize that anything imaginable is entirely plausible. Creepy.

Getting a new phone makes you realize how many passwords you dont remember. I’m all for passwords that are “close enough”!

The Question:

The Today Show premiered in 1952. Who was the first host? Part B: The show was the creation of an NBC Producer whose daughter became a pretty accomplished actress. Who are they?

Of interest, yesterday, Warren Buffett spoke for a couple  of hours on CNBC. One of his major concerns was the AI future. He said it is disconcerting when even the people who are smartest about it admit they don't know where it is going. He said, It's one thing when Columbus doesn’t know where he is going...”. He also referred to words by Einstein during WWII about the development of the Atomic Bomb: This changes everything except the way people think.”

If it’s new, we got to do it. Yeah, sure. Have you checked improvements to your apps lately?

Yesterday I talked about how armed agents in the streets is not the face of the America that we have all loved and respect. This morning comments from Trump ally Rogan said the same thing: “You dont want militarized people roaming the streets snatching  people many of whom turned out to be US Citizens.” If you have been reading this morning mess regularly you know that troops in the city streets is abhorrent to me and surely un-American.

Spring comes much faster for old, ancient people. Sorry, youth.

I’m thinking Pam Biondi is caught in the middle of something with no reasonable exit door.

A highly regarded Providence restaurant well known for delectable steaks just hired a new head chef with great credentials. She is an avowed vegetarian. I think I’d be looking at my steaks differently from now on. By the way, she competed on Food TV shows including Gordon Ramsey, Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay. But meat is meat, not cauliflower.

Of the Tech Bigs, Apple seems to have been lagging in latching on to an AI star. But no more with Google as its partner. Let the bots fight it out.

OpenAI with ChatGPT was king. Now with the Google-Apple deal, it isn't. I wonder if the two warring AI sources will start calling each other names, learning from politicians

Remember back when I would do movie reviews in the Segment: “Readling Between the Lines Movie Reviews” But now there is a constant deluge of movies and streaming series and even some that go to theaters. They are often in and out before my mind can wrap itself around them. But, if I come across a winner, I’ll let you know. Too many go from Hype to Disappointing.

A Harlan Coban series, "Run Away is keeping me interested now,

By the way, the USA version of Doc Martin, Best Medicine”, has a lead character who just isn’t very interesting at all. The Americanization of British TV and movies has not ever worked out terribly well. One true disaster I remember going from wonderful to awful was the American version of Cracker starring Robbie Coltrane. But we won the Revolutionary War.

The Answer:

Dave Garraway was the Host that first brought us mornings on.\ TV. It was the brainchild of Sylvester “Pat” Weaver whose daughter Sigourney is best remembered as Ripley in the very scary Aliens.

Starting to feel the beat, even through the fog of confusion. As the old song says, “...Gave proof through the night that our flag is still there.”
