How many fires.

Today's Tids Issue 5,990

Culmination:

Isn’t it nice

It's soft and fluffy.

Not ominous,

Like insidious ice.

Wouldn't it be nice if world was always as pristine and pure as the day after snow covers the sins of the dying autumn?

Do you know what I dent Like... this trend towards directors thinking movies dark and grey are better. That's called creativity for personal satisfaction at the expense of consumer enjoymentt

Is it me or has there already been too much Super Bowl Talk? How many ways can you twist a story?

The Question:

Thomas Edison is often acclaimed as America's greatest inventor. But there have been many who have contributed to our ability to move from primitive hardship conditions into the glory of being owned by technology. Name five other American greats who helped along the road to comfort and effeminacy.

And another thing about movies lately... they talk too much.

Did you see where the White House has backtracked on their initial public reaction to the killing of Alex Pretti They would find a better path to potential broader national acceptance if they backtracked on a lot more of the statements. Integrity and believability come from straightforward honesty and not manipulating worlds.

What's so unusual about sending “ICE” agents to the “Winter” Olympics?

The Macy's TDay Balloons may have Popped. The 165-year-old Department store chain just surprised analysts by closing 450 more stores. Yesterday they eliminated 1,000 jobs by closing large distribution centers in Connecticut. Revenue is slowing and 2025 profits were 60% lower than 2024. Yet shopping isa still a favorite pastime for millions. Shopping area parking lots are always crowded. So are they all just looking or buying and returning. TJX stock has been booming for a reason.

The snowplowers did an immense job around this state yesterday.

The college basketball landscape is beginning overwhelm me. And I was a gym rat growing up. But there is just too much of everything crowding out my nostalgic fibers. Maybe it's also because it's hard to get enthused about a standout freshman on your team thinking some agent is already lining up other teams for next year. I like Gonzaga because they seem to be able to beat the odds

I see where the Admin is sending Immigration Czar Tom Hilman to Minneapolis. Kindly Ole Tom will quell the anger, right?

Did you hear about the shepherd who drove his sheep through town? He was given a ticket for making a ewe turn.

The Answer:

How about Alexander Graham Bell and his Telephone. The others on the Greatest's lists are John Browning (Automatic Shotgun), Willis Carrier (AC), Samual Colt, Henry Ford, Robert Fulton, Charles Goodyear, Cyrus McCormick, Samual FB Morse, Dr. Jonas Salk, Wilbur and Orville Wright Ben Franklyn and Eli Witney. Others might be Elias Howe, George Westinghouse, John Deere and George Eastman and certainly any number of todays Tech Giants,

I had an uncle who always brought his idea for a new invention to Thanksgiving Dinner. All the men gathered round to listen to his theory. His best one was fending off German U-Boats. They didn't work. I think I got my mind from him.

Heres a really nice tune for a snowy day:
