The media, as it is their way begins the week telling us to worry about getting where we are getting. They say 81 million will be traveling so watch out for discomfort and worse. Wasn't it better when we only needed enough oats for the horse pulling the shay as we travel over the rivers and through the woods to grandmother's house.  

 

The dueling food publicists are always adept at besmirching the other guy's food while creating a mystique around their own. They also give out warnings on big eating holidays – eat mine not theirs. But the facts are always changing, and many iconic demons are now not so forboten after all. And also consuming too much of the so-called healthy stuff is not such a great idea either. Take eggs, long frowned upon for cholesterol, they provide us with more benefit's in protein than the supposed ills of the C-Word. And of course. Carbohydrates have been totally mischaracterized; Carbs are essential for the proper functioning of our brains, muscles and kidneys. And then there is Gluten which is basically very good for protein from grains. Gluten free is only meaningful for 1% of the population who are celiacs. The rest of us can enjoy it. So, the real message of healthy eating is and will always be, moderation.

Fighting courageously. Estimates say about 80-85,000 people between the ages 20 and 40 are diagnosed with cancer each year. About 9,000 die. Everytime I read of a celebrity facing a situation like Tatianna and her mother, I always think of all the rest of the children and the dear relatives who will be feeling the void. 

 

Modern wars seem more adept at killing and maiming civilians. The latest report in October on the Ukraine War says that 14,534 Civilians have been killed and 38,472 have been injured. War is crap. 

 

Of course, the really big news this morning is that Taylor Swift is going to hold her wedding in Rhode Island, It is said she is building a bigger and better rose garden at her mansion by the sea. Though, some say that this is a ploy to hide the real location from Paparazzi. RI is being used again.  Isn't it interesting how we can make news over nothing.

Next by number of stores is Target followed by Burlington, Macy’s, Stage Stores, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Belk, Stein Mart, Meijer, Dillard’s. On teh other hand, the ten top Retailers are Walmart, Amazon, Costco, Kroger, Home Depot, CVS, Walgreens', Target, Lowes and Albertsons. 

 

Well, just two more days of work for all you workers, and just two more days of wondering what day it is and why we’re in it for us retirees.
