Margarine for errors.

Today's Tids Issue 4.704

Buttering up:

Same days you just wake up sluggish, so that fighting to attain liveliness is like exercise. I need a nap.

FED Chair Powell said it simply this week, that the “fundamental fact” about the economy is keeping the virus in check. That’s about it.

The latest article about skin cancer in the Dermatological Journal got a pore review.

Latest from Loonyville, Department:

Th three major TV stations serving Rhode Island refused to accept a public service notice about their annual blood drive from the Knights of Columbus! Guess why? Yup. Because of their name association with you know who.  Maybe the world is flat and commons sense is falling off the horizon.

Oldies but Punnies, Department:

--Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.

--Big cities make haze while the sun shines.

The Question:

Who are considered the best TV dads of the 1990’s?

How about Fang! Actually, yesterday it was FAAG reporting earnings and revenue. Facebook, Apple, Amazon and Alphabet (Google) under fire the day before were on fire last evening reporting amazing revenue and solid income for a quarter that devasted an American economy. These companies, there associated partners and other techs are currently the bedrock of good jobs. The USA has not come to a halt.

Have you noticed that some modern chefs are dumping everything they can find on a once piece of fish? All fresh fish ever needs is a little salt, pepper, lemon and lots and lots of butter.

On some days, dreamers have trouble playing golf.

There is a little chorus arising from people that says all of these large uncontrolled gatherings of young people in this disease-ridden society probably will have little effect on almost all of them. But that’s not the point at all. They all fail to mention that the problem is really about which of those more vulnerable to the disease will be touched by them. It’s not a matter of taking way fun from the children. It’s about caring for others.

There’s an alternate theory to the stimulus delay squabble, and that is that people knowing that the $600 was coming to an end should be out their scrambling looking for a job. That may be a little too idealistic, or perhaps.

A doctor in Texas said yesterday that he is fighting two wars – one against a killer disease, the other against human stupidity.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Learning the secret of life is everyday conquering some fear.” Lately I’m fearing the insidious creep of politics of the left. Some would want you to overcome it by denying it is happening.

Have you noticed lately that just about every TV program – adventure, drama, comedy, even sports -- seems to have at least one social or Political issue as a central theme? Whatever happened to entertainment.

Why are some 189-degree differences between humans accepted and understood, while other differences are like Chernobyl. You can’t go there.

This just in: “Trump might not accept the results of the 2020 election,” says movement that hasn’t accepted the results of the 2016 election.

So today we are ending a week and a month, but not a year, and I don’t see an apocalypse on the horizon. So, life is good.

If you add jelly to a door that’s ajar, you get a door jam. Yes, it is now time to end the Tids for the week. Where did that come from.

I have improved my margarine for error buy buttering up my critics. It’s a slippery slope.

The Answer:

Number one is Phillip Banks of the Fresh Prince of Belaire. Next is Toolman Tim Taylor, followed by Dan Conner, Carl Winslow, Danny Tanner, Al Bundy, Alan Matthews, Dr. Jason Seaver, Frank Lambert, Ray Barone, Coach Hayden Fox and Maxwell Sheffield.

Well, there you have it. Another Tids week. I figure that I have to write 296 more Tids to get to 5,000. That would be about 59.2 weeks from today bringing us September 20, 2021. Retirement! Nah. That would be like resigning from your heart.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

The Reckoning.

Today's Tids Issue 4,703

Just way too many factions, fracture:

Today could seem like black Thursday for investors as it appears we will be getting reports of the worst Quarter in American history. Bleaker than  depression eras of the past. A Bloomberg consensus will tell us, it is expected that in the second quarter, “The economy contracted at an annualized rate of 39%.” Optimists will be looking for less than horrific forecasts to support the last vestiges of optimism for a future recovery. It is even considered good news that this report will show us an economic hiccup caused by  an unheard of lockdown of thee economy, which will never be repeated again. It is a big Hiccup and it may need more than somebody behind us shouting” Boo!”. But a hiccup, just the same.

Why do retired people go on vacation? To get away from relaxation.

I have heard from a knowledgeable wine guy that because of Covid you can get great deals on very good California wine by the case.

A test tube baby has a womb with a view.

People seem to be amazed that young teens don’t know Beatles’ music. I’m thinking that I in my early teens would have had to have had an appreciation of 1890’s tunes. And, we were so big into Mairzy Doats that we didn’t about those 90’s care at all.

In case you are tested, some of the Pop Tunes of the 1890’s were “Semper Fidelis March”, “Anvil Chorus”, “Down upon the Suwanee River”, “The Mocking Bird”, “The Washington Post March”, “Throw him Down McCloskey” and “You’ll Miss Lots of Fun When You Are Married” by John Phillip Sousa and Edward Taber. Yeah, they weren’t top of mind for a fifties kid.

I now have a better understanding of outdoor dining. And I’m enjoying it.

Ah Congress. Just when American industry and business is trying to overcome the scourge, the burden wrought by Covid, our August body goes after some of the most successful among us.

The Disease Among Us, Department:

Who has cancelled more of American tradition and culture – Covid or protesting children at play?

The stock market is beginning to reach back up to pe-Covid highs. Is it too high?

I don’t know about you but Houston Pediatrician Dr. Stella Immanuel sounds like a certified nut job to me.

The Answer:

Number is Alex Trebek! After Alex comes Bob Barker and then Richard Dawson, Gene Rayburn, Pat Sajak, Bob Eubanks, Monty Hall, Dick Clark, Steve Harvey and at #10. Allen Ludden. The next group has Chuck Woolery, Bill Cullin, Regis, Wink Martindale, Drew Carey, Peter Tomarken, Wayne Brady, Ray Combs, Jim Perry and at #20 , Jim Lange. The original Jeopardy host, Art Fleming is all the way down at #24. Other notables form the past lower than 30 are Jack Barry, Garry More, John Daly, Dennis James and Bert Parks.

Covid is proving once again that there is a prominent part of the population who have no sense of responsibility. That it’s me or nothing.

Complaints into opportunity

Today's Tids Issue 4.702

Zzzzzzzzzzz:

Yes, it is, the slow days of summer we feel

Where moisture is high

And the stultification is real.

Where we have lost some energetic zeal.

These days of watching weeds grow;

When once green fields lose their glow.

So, think of slowin’ down,

Put languorousness to use,

And avoid overheated exercise abuse.

Every once in a while, a melodic solo piano piece comes out of my radio to touch my heart. You know it when you feel it.

Let’s hope the speechifying Congress people let the Tach execs actually answer questions and respond to criticisms.

I have heard a lot funny things coming out of Washington, but just plain laugh out loud funny is Gerry Nadler accusing somebody of pursuing political objectives.

Probably the worst thing for the image of America are televised congressional hearings. People vote for these clowns.

Shamrock: A fake Irish engagement ring.

The Question:

What are the Ten US Companies with highest revenue?

The Headlines:

--Markets Staying Positive While Waiting For Tech Exec Hearings At Noon; Powell Press Conference At 2:30.

--US Lawmakers Continue To Negotiate Stimulus Package.

--Home Sales Exceeding Estimates; Low Mortgage Rates Driving Activity.

--6 States Post New Coronavirus Records; 1,300 Die On Tuesday, A New One Day Record.

--Trump Concerned Over Fauci’s High Approval Ratings.

--Young European Driving New Spike In Virus Three.

--Ecuador On Alert As 216 Chinese Fishing Boats Show Up To Fish Off Galapagos.

--New Mars Expedition Will Hope To Use Helicopter To Explore Further.

The discussion about the new stimulus package is all about what Senators think they need to approve in order to get votes in November. Pure and simple.

An awful lot of people really love burritos. I wonder why?

I worry about emails that come in written in oriental script.

You have to wonder how well Airbnb’s are being disinfected.

The teacher had just finished telling the class that guns kill. Jeffery in the front row looked up excited. The teacher, smiling, asked, “What is it Jeffery!” “I just realized,” said Jeff, “it is my pencil that’s making me fail tests.’

Joe says he is about to name his VP. New reports say Susan Rice is moving up in the big Blair House round robin. Which is odd because she is the documented villain of Benghazi. But the DC undercurrent is saying that she is a Biden/Obama fave and now in the race with Kamala and Elizabeth. Now, people don’t vote for VP’s, but they do give the opposition something to pick at. Ask Sarah Palin.

The way Wall Street has snubbed its nose at General Electric, you might think it is out of business. It is about to report Q2 revenue of $17.23 Billion. Which would be bigger than GM, Boeing. General Electric is not what it was for sure, but with 2019 revenue of $105+Billion, it is still an entity. And perhaps its reorganization for a future is taking a toll on profits. I’m not one to keep good old companies alive to satisfy some kind of sentimentality, but I wrote a major college paper on GE (In two days of all-nighters), so it is a part of my heart. And I hope they find away.

AG Barr proved that speaking in a controlled voice is far more effective than manic lecturing.

Gorsuch and Kavanaugh Seem to be seeking independence from the White House. That’s good for the Supreme Court. It is the way it should be.

The cat ate some cheese and waited for a mouse with baited breath.

Congress is like a college student and term papers. They wait til the last minute to get tings done. So, forget the daily angst reports over Stimulus spending. They still have almost 3 days. A lifetime for a congress person.

The Answer:

This is from full year 2019. Walmart was #1 at $514.4 Bil (Profit $6.67 Bil).
