Today's Tids Issue 5,373

Tame Thyself:

Honesty is about telling the truth. Integrity comes from being open unconditionally.

The successful gym owner was making healthy profits.

Well, I just shoveled out a path to my grill. So, everything is now good with the world. That is, if you think killing Scott Adams is good.

The homeless problem is much bigger than just finding homes for people.

I know that Desantis is the golden boy, but to me there is something negatively precedent setting about big government taking over a corporate entity, regardless of whether or not you like their corporate philosophy. What company not liked by any government would be next. That is the question.

I just found my friend has a secret life as a priest. It’s his altar ego.

The Question:

In which decade did James Watson and Francis Crick discover the Double Helix Structure of DNA? Bonus: What long time news commentator used the phrase, “Now you know the rest of the story.”

The Headlines:

--Stocks Fall at Opening, Continue Lower Through Morning; Retail Inventories (Excluding Autos) Rising Faster Than Predicted. Wholesale Inventories Dropping Deeper than Predicted.

--Zelensky Says Situation in Eastern City of Bakhmut is Worsening.

--SC Hearing Arguments on JP Student Loan Giveaway Program.

--US Marshall Service Suffers Major Security Breach.

--23 Dead Mainly Humpback Whales Have Washed up on Northeast Beaches Since December; Most Deaths Seem to be from Ship Strikes.

--Desantis Signs Bill Giving State Control of Over Disney Lands.

My newspaper is on the way out. They gave up Dilbert to the culture crushers today. They have given up the Red Sox on ghe sports pages this spring. They gave up an intelligent nonpartisan editorial page editor and writer. They gave up editorial page cartoons. The news is day-old at best. What ls left, “Zits”?

I think many of our systemic problems are an outgrowth of the entitlement culture of the past 60 years. (Read that as political candidate bribery.) And that includes blatant criminals who think it is now their right to rob at will. Entitlement corrodes responsibility, courtesy and consideration of others.

My friend is a farmer with a huge ego problem. All I did was ask him where he was, and he brags he’s out standing in his field.

I was thinking that legalese has no place in the fight to achieve integrity.

I think that the March Madness Tournament this year looks like it could be anybody's championship. It could be very exciting, except for the oddsmakers. And I really don’t care about the oddsmakers.

There are 721,000 registered voters in Rhode Island. 14% are Repubs, 41% are Dems and 45% are Indies. The National view is about 34% Indy, 33% Dem and 29% Repub. You can see why it is so lonely here in such a beautiful state.

I didn’t watch much of the just completed All Star AGT (America’s Got Talent) I generally like the acts, but I get tired of the judges. But I watched the fianale last night and it was very entertaining. Based in what I saw last night, my final five would have been Tom Ball, Aiden McCan, Kodi Lee, Aiden Bryant and the Light Balance Kids. I particularly loved the Kodi-Light Balance performance and John Ball’s singing. And Franco with McCan was just, well, magical. And Bryant soaring over guest singer Adam Lambert was spectacular. So that's what I liked. I was not overly thrilled with the final five. But the way, the comic Mike E Winfield, who they seemed to be pushing a lot, never really made me laugh (Nice guy, though), which just makes him the latest of the not-so-funny comics on that show.

Why do people keep on saying that betting makes watching games more exciting. What could be more exciting than watching athletes digging deep into their hearts to win.

Chefs on cooking shows keep on saying that there is no taste in chicken yet one of their essential ingredients is always chicken stock.

I never laughed at Carrott Top. I just worried about the people who thought he was funny.

Big companies with the so-called smartest people in the World can and do make huge mistakes all the time. Take Goldman Sachs and it’s “Marcus” Wealth Management unit established to take on other consumer banking giants like JPM and Chase. It became nothing but headaches, and it spread throughout the corporation. One of the major, acknowledged ingredients t contributing to failure, giant egos. It is an interesting tale.

Many a bad decision has been made as the result of an ego. Check out the history of the world.

The Answer:

Watson and Crick actually discovered the Double helix way back in 1956. Bonus: Of course, Paul Harvey always gave us the rest of the story.

Leave your egos in the closet and don’t hedge. That’s about all I have to say today.

An ego and a super ego walk into a bar. “The bartender says, I’ll have to see some id>”
