Silence is the language of God...”

Today's Tids Issue 5,358

Words are the eyes:

Whether a spy or weather balloon, it is disheartening to learn how easy it is to sneak a foreign object onto the skies of the USA.

I was washing the screen of my smart phone yesterday and I think while scrubbing I joined three new apps and one of them sold my identity to a Sadhu in Nepal. Moral of this sad tale: Turn off phone before washing.

It appears that the Koch and other conservative Billionaires are getting off of the Trump train. That would automatically make a lot of other Repubs viable. And maybe all of the Moderate Repub money would build up for a strong presence for a middle of the roader. The Dynamics are just beginning., But money is everything, just in case you haven’t noticed.

I hate the attacks on the wealthy. The wealthy are people too, even though their sector Bell Curve has the same distribution of weird personality and moral traits as all other economic and cultural sectors. The difference between the wealthy and the poor is that the wealthy pay for their own psychiatrists. By the way, the top fifty percent of earners pay 97.7% of taxes.

Cost of Living hikes are just seeds sown to assure future Cost of Living hikes.

“One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart you cannot utter.” -- James Earl Jones.

The Question:

I like to remember Americans who accomplished significant firsts but are often forgotten in the cultural morass. Which American was the first ever Nordic event winner in the Winter Olympics?

The Headlines:

Words unfettered, Department:

Bob Woodward is the latest “Journalist” coming out to say he knew the Clintin campaign originated Trump Russia papers were a hoax. In fact, he warned WAPO, but says he noticed serval key reporters weren't interested. The paper has since come out refuting some of their own stories. Maybe Journalism Universities should take another look at tier Journalism Ethics courses.

“Words are of course the most powerful Drug used by mankind”. --Rudyard Kipling

Except if there are too many tyopos.

Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”, Department:

Speaking if conclusion jumping, it appears that Marie Antionette never said let them eat Brioche (The literal interpretation of her alleged quote – Sweet cake like bread”. The anti-monarchy groups seized upon that alleged utterance as a rallying cry, to show how out of touch the often overly regaled Marie was with the regular folks starving from lack of bread. Yet even before twitter that statement, which is now viewed as never said, spread far and wide across the countryside, and eventually led to unfettered anger resulting in one beautiful head rolling away from the guillotine. How many untruths or exaggerations are dividing our society today. It this game our politicians play is not a new one.

“False words are not only evil in themselves, but they infect the soul with evil.” --Socrates

“FOMO Pushing Hot Market” above refers ot all the investors piling money into the markets to be there when the Fed stops raising interest rates. Just in case you were interested in the profound depth of our market manifestations.

Rachel Calson wrote some very enjoyable books to read. She created vivid imaginations of life around our shores and in wooded forests, and frankly, they felt good. And some even contributed to people taking massed action against perceived evil. The only problem is that Rachel’s evidence was more anecdotal and heartfelt, and sometime avoidance of facts. Yes, just a feeling, elegantly written. But words have a way of infecting the hearts of good people. I think we have heard this tune before.

A reader with sources in Ukraine tells me that "Ukraine was disappointed today when the 1st Abrams tank arrived, and it was Stacy. But the Russians are terrified”.

Viola Davis became an EGOT yesterday. 9Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tiny winner) Yeah she won the G for Grammys reading an audio book. Angela isn’t alone with several EGOTs getting the G from reading a book. Now a couple got the G for best comedy album, and I’’ll take that. But a guy Like John Legend got it for all the right reasons in all the right categories. And I’ll back songwriters like Richard Rogers and Tim Rice who brought music to all of the genre. Even pop singer Jennifer Hudson came through across the board. But Audrey Hepburn who I love, and even the great Helen Hayes got the G for reading a book. Maybe I'm too harsh. But that’s what I feel. Many things that used to be select have been watered down to include.

Peter Malnati is a fun golfer to watch!

Many of the great college basketball coaches got there through their recruiting abilities. Now what they all need most is a large Alumni wallet, as the bright shining high schoolers are playing the best financial offer games. And that may have Cinderella missing from the NCAA Madness Ball game. The small or mid-size college that may find a precious gem will find him or her moving on for a Prince’s ransom at a Power school in the Kingdom of the Advantaged.

The Answer:

Lest we forget, Bill Koch won the 1976 Winter Olympic Silver medal for the 30km Cross Country Event. The first American ever to win in an International Nordic event. It may not feel like much today, but it was quite astonishing for sure. It would be like an American being named MVP as a Wicket Keeper in the English Cricket championships.

“For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, ‘It might have been'. --John Greenleaf Whittier
