Its about moral compasses.

Today's Tids Issue 5,351

Being Happily Uninformed:

The USA doesn’t need any more laws. We just need more citizens who obey them.

The policeman cleaning his family shower of mold is a Grime Fighter.

What's so “Social” about a social media that has the capability to create in a relative instant massive riots and destructive criminal activity?

Here’s an idea that might move congress people to think more seriously about a shut down that takes away income from people affected by the closures and Gov employees, except of course, income from their own paychecks left intact. Yes, you guessed it, take away their pay checks too. Then they will have to live only on bribes.

The Question:

27K voters named the top ten most overrated TV shows. Name five.

There aren’t many of what I would call must see College games this weekend. Maybe Notre Dame against the new darling of the ACC, Duke. Duke will use it to prove their record is not a fluke. That could be interesting. Other than that, I can only see Kentucky-Florida, Maybe USC whomping Colorado and Georgia in a rivalry game with Auburn as watchable possibilities. Auburn is down but they have been known to rise to the occasion. But my opinion aside, it doesn’t mean that hundreds of thousands won't be out there rooting home their teams, experiencing elation and sadness, the emotions always there on a Saturday in the Fall.

Maybe Spell-Check isn’t woke after all. It wants to change my suse of “Congress People” to Congressmen. Good for you SC.

Today brings us to 1945. The world’s eyes opened to the destructive capability of the Atomic Bomb, but throughout countries everywhere, People were smiling broadly, dancing in the streets because the worst, deadliest war in history was over. A war had ended that saw 56 million military and citizens killed as a direct result of the fighting and bombing. Another 19 million died as a result of war induced famine and disease. 330,000 US soldiers were killed and many more permanently maimed. And people everywhere in this country experienced that war every day. And I remember clearly running around my neighborhood with the kids and yes, giddy adults, because the effects of the war were so pervasive. They were glorious celebrations. FDR Died from the effects of his polio and never saw the Germany or Japan surrender. Navy Flight 119 disappears over the Bermuda Triangle. The UN comes to life. Jews in horrible Concentration camps were Liberated, but not the fears and memories of the interments. Berlin is divided between US, France, Britain and Russia. The cost of gas rises to 15 cents and a car creeps over $1K to $1,020. Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin and Henry Winkler were born. They would make us all laugh 20 something yearsv later. The top 3 movies were “Bells of Saint Mary's”, “Leave her to Heaven” and “Spellbound”. With the end of the war, Music came alive, The Big Bands continued to play and entertain all those dancing now. The golden age of radio soared with Jack benny, Fred Allan, Edgar Bergan and Charlie M, Superman, Dick Tracy, Tom Mix and Amos and Andy Top songs were “Let it Snow” by Vaughn Monroe and Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe by Bing Crosby. Crosby was huge in song and movies. People began to notice Stan Kenton, Louis Armstrong Dizzy Gillespie and a new crooner Perry Como. My dad bought a new Plymouth. He was a Plymouth guy. The other kids had Chevies and Fords, except one who had Hudson. I'm glad we didn’t have a Hudson. I spent a lot of time at the local LI Sound beaches and at Candlewood Lake. I remember beautiful mahogany speed boatst on the lake and at the beach. I did surprisingly poorly in a 3rd grade spelling Bee. I guess I have never gotten over the effects of it.

Hey, that was long. But 1945 was a really big year.

As I have said here often, I am totally against this idea of impeachment being used to alter the choice of the voters. This important tool of democracy has lost its substance, been watered down, as have so many aspects of U S culture. This latest case seems weak and looks more like a revenge impeachment than anything else. Hey, we are not Gabon.

AI has designed the new helmets for the NFL. Nice academic exercise, but no improvement.

I guess God made the decision for senators who were equivocating over about Diane Feinstein's ability to serve effectively on the floor. Actually, I liked Diane Feinstein. I know she was a little off the political road upon which I roam but she seemed as though she could see the bigger picture, be reasonable at times, and always thoughtful. I guess that is the the difference between the Senate and the House.
