In the arms of melodies

Today's Tids Issue 5,283

I'm all ears:

Did you ever hear a melody.

And suddenly feel,

The rapture of love’s past.

Do you hear songs in your mind,

That take you down gentle paths.

In wooded lanes.

Over greening hillsides

To that somewhere place

Where you found love's first kiss.

Sorry, I was listening to a nice little piece of music, and just got lost as dreamers often do. And I wondered if music makes people dream, and feel things they may have felt before.

Having your head in the clouds for a few minutes is certainly better than trying to understand why Tucker Carlson left Fox. The Wall Street Journal says there are a couple of biographies of that lightning rod due out one in Mid-July. The author says he hasn’t shown it to Tucker. I think Carlson is a pretty clever guy, but I won't be following him on Twitter which I guess is where he has gone. It seems he forgot who was paying his salary.

“To stay out of hot water when brewing a pun, it’s best to use subtle tea.” Thanks to a loyal reader who often pun-ishes me for incomprehension.

The Question:

How many people signed the Declaration of Independence?

The Headlines:

One of things I remember from summers long ago was duckpin bowling on Cape Cod. It was great with Ice cream after a day by the water.

You have to imagine the sudden panic on the Public Relations department of one of the dominant chip companies in the world sees a headline like yesterday about the J6 Riots: “Government says Intel Failed...” When you are selling microchip reliability, “Fail” is not a word you want associated with your company name. I wonder if an AI computer overreacted sending the stock reeling.

As one DNA said to the other DNA -- “Do these genes make me look fat?”

How about that 35-Year-old healthy ex Arkansas U, Ex Patriot football player Ryan Mallet dying yesterday in a rip tide off Gulf Shores in Florda. I often think, no way any riptide would ever get me... I’m to good a swimmer. Maybe not. It’s always good to be reminded about caution. It’s too bad a good guy had to die to remind me of that.

No matter what the news media tells you about happy times in America, lots of people are just fed up with what's going on today with rudeness, hatred, division and selfishness.

Is the weather really weird or is it just that the media is talking about it more.

To not punish thyself, Department:

This is a classic week when I wonder why everybody picks the same day to travel when there are 8 or 9 average weekends between now and Labor Day. When you think about it clearly, there is absolutely no reason to travel on the 4th of July. To jump into such a human morass of anger and confusion.

Doomsdayers continue to toll the bells for the death of Commercial Real Estate.

No single profession knows more about how human beings have changed than the flight attendant with 40 or more years in the job.

What do you get when you cross a polar bear with a seal? A polar bear.

You know you are getting old when all the nostalgia events and programming represent the generations just after you.

Political odds and ends: Since his official announcement, Ron DeSantis has gone down in the polls. --Some Dems are saying that Biden will assure himself another term if gets rid of Kamals Harris who has the lowest poll ratings of anybody. --Really, can Trump be stopped. --Repubs often overlook the fact that there are a lot more democrats and even more people who just love getting something for nothing.

The Answer:

56 people signed the DoI. Historians say it was a mixed bag as some of teh strongest leaders stayed back home to reform their governments as part of a new independent nation. So, while it is prestigious today for any name on the great document, some were just guys who were there.

Today is about melodies that have you dreaming. I don't understand Gaelic, but I have always liked the feeling of this song, Hear Me. How often to do people only hope that somebody hears them
