Time means different things to different people. Certainly, it is different to the generations as oldsters look to time left while youngsters look at what seems like endless time. As you get older every instant can be precious, every small event momentous. Yet when you get older, time often doesn't matter because there is always nothing to do tomorrow. There are no confines, barely any deadlines. The clock is just something that is there, and you rarely ever have to look at it at all unless there is a doctor’s appointment. But I look at my smartwatch often to get ball scores or be tipped off to some inane political moment. Anyhow, I have a lot of old watches, so I decided to make a belt out of them... but it was waist of time. 

 

So why don’t we go to comedians instead of doctors if laughter is the best medicine? 

 

The global fascination about being cool with the latest designer, socially desirable drugs has done nothing for the improvement of our culture. There are far better highs in life than those manufactured highs.  

 

The sign I saw outside Lululemon yesterday was promoting “Pickel Ball Outfits”. I didn’t know you needed an outfit to play pickleball! I don’t play sports that need outfits. Unless it is shoulder pad snand a helmet.

That was one, really great US Open and certainly Wyndham Clark’s win was one of the most emotional I have ever seen. What great play by Clark, McIlroy, Cam Smith and at times Sheffler. Any number of good golfers may have buckled under pressure from three of the top golfers in the world, but Clark barely winced. He has the talent, he l always has, and maybe he is in line now after breaking though to join those at the top.  

 

Of all the new technocrap they have been putting on cars, the one I like best is the automatic rain-sensitive windshield wiper. And Heated seats in the winter. Much of the rest is just cool window dressing. 

 

One heart stopping moment in life is looking down to see that you missed stepping on your glasses by a ¼ of an inch.

Actually, a two-day Juneteenth festival was held in a park 30 yards from my house. It looked quite colonial with a little rap here and there. I don’t as a rule go to mass gatherings anymore.

On the other hand, we could only wish that Putin saw economic competition as the best route forward.
