Happy accomplishments, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y.

Today's Tids Issue 5,416

Done. Aaah:

I guess it’s New Years Eve in Tidsland, as the next time I see you all the ball will have dropped and te so-called New Year will have begun. Personally, as a basic functioning curmudgeon I must say I have always found n New Years Eve rather forced and underwhelming. But that doesn‘t hide the feelings I have each day living among so many wonderful people. Where each day s a new beginning. Thinking each morning: What can I discover to make somebody else's life fun and interesting. So, I leave you with one question... Why can’t they drop the ball at 9:00PM?

I'll never forget the first time I saw my Snowman die.

I think a trend we will see among younger generations is not how expensive a destination wedding can be, but how can they find honest understanding friends with whom they can share an apartment or buy a house in these days of outrageous housing costs.

Well, its time to check your credit card ratings so you can get ready for Valentines Day sales which will start on January 2.

After the NYE bluster is past, the biggest thing in January is to learn whether Big Wall Street is happy or foreboding. Freezing ice or January thaw.

The Question:

Joe Flacco is doing amazing things these days for the Cleveland Browns. When was the last time Flacco seemed to appear out of nowhere and amazed the football world?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Open Lower on Last Day of 2023 Trading; Will End with Near Record for all Indices.

--Massive Russia Drone and Missile Attack hits Cities Across Ukraine; Kiev Spox say Russia Used Every Type of Weapon in its Arsenal.

--Maine Bars Trump from Ballot; California Says Trump Ok for Their Ballot.

--Israel Attacks Forcing 150K Palestinians to Flee Central Gaza.

--Illegal Entrants at Our Southern Border Reach New Monthly High.

There's no truth to the rumor that silence vowing monks generally turn to ventriloquism.

Here’s a unique Idea, citizens of Maine: If you don’t like the fact that Trump is on your ballot, don’t vote for him.

When you buy a bag of lettuce it gets all soggy and brown. Cookies don’t do that.

I always thought that Paula Poundstone had the right name. While watching her perform I always felt like pounding my head against a stone wall until I passed out. Ouch!

Impeachment, Ballot negating and election day manipulation just have to go back to becoming rare occurrences or the US will not survive as it has been. Lawyers don’t elect officials, people do.

Did you hear that? It's 1989 and the sound you hear is the Berlin Wall crumbling down, Unfortunately, the other sound you hear are the tanks in Tiananmen Square. So, while the iron curtain was lifting in Eastern Europe and the people felt an exhilarating sense of freedom and connection with the rest of the world, as Communism drifted away failing yet again, Chinese people were made horribly aware of bonds of Communism there. It was a big year, 1989. Domestically we worried about the oil spreading out from the Exxon Valdez and if we could survive the failure of the savings and loan industry. There was a horrific stampede at Hillsborough Soccer stadium in Sheffield England where 96 mostly teens were crushed to death, and 700 injured. Over here, George Bush was now an affable President that a lot of people liked quite a bit. The juicy news across te USA revolved around the conviction of Leona Helmsley. She is in the “Don't you know who I am” Hall of Fame, for sure. Lots of new stuff appeared on the scene. Intel gave us the powerful 486 microprocessor which helped in the expansion of computing capabilities, like the intro of Microsoft’s Office. Nintendo gave us Game Boy and Toyota gave us the Lexus. Actually, Nissan was poised to match it with their Infinity, perhaps as many thought a better car. But all we saw while Lexus sold cars was the promise of nirvana as Nissan ran six months of commercials showing breaking waves on a sandy shore. Ford bought Jaguar and the Yugo Car Company folded. Woman were liking the two-piece tunic dresses, and men didn't know what they liked until their better half told them. People liked learning about the 4,400-year-old mummy found in The Great Pyramid at Giza. The average cost of a new home was $120K and the average salary was $27,550. Yes,1989 in many ways was a year that changed the world, but pop music was getting harder for me to like and remember. Sort of non-descript as we were fed staged commercialism over pleasant tunes. Milli Vanilli had a flock of hits as did Paula Abdul. “When Harry Met Sally”, people in theaters smiled. They also enjoyed Batman, Honey I shrunk the Kids, Parenthood, Lethal Weapon, Turner and Hooch Dead Poets Society and a film that has become some sort of cult classic, “Field of Dreams. I now had no kids in college or any left to go to college. People in 1989 turned 21 and could drink legally. Frankly, I was just working and enjoying life quite a bit. Oh Yeah, and we had our first grandchild born that July. And he has turned out to be a pretty great guy.

Every time the minimum wage is raised, all the people who worked hard to get ahead will demand an increase too. The cost of products and certainly services will go up and nobody will gain. And anybody on fixed income will lose. Minimum wages are a farce that make politicians feel happy about their guilt. I’m story I repeat myself on this legalis zed travesty, but it just makes me mad etat people accept this ruse perpetrated and never questioned.

Uh oh, here we go again. “Misgendering somebody will be a Human Rights Violation.” That is according to celeb Tommy Dorfman. Inmate to inmate at Fed Prison: “What are you in for?” “I killed nine people. Wat are you infor?” “I misgendered somebody while in line at the bank.” The Moral of this tale: Use the automatic teller machine outside. This is the kind of slippery slope thinking that si caring people about cultural changes.

The Answer:

Flacco was an unheard of QB from little Delaware U when Baltimore took a chance on him and took him #18 in 2008 draft. He continually surprised people. In 2012 when the Baltimore Ravesn backed into the play offs where the Ravens were written off as no threat. But Flacco came up big beating both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning on the way to the Super Bowl where he led the Ravens to the title, beating San Fran and winning teh MVP.

I lost a lot of truly close and wonderful friends this year. And I will never forget them. Never. And I’m sure the many people whom they touched in their amazing lifetimes will not forget them either. Just in case any of them are listening

Have a great last weekend of the year, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
