Blinking lights.

Today's Tids Issue 5,403

Busy, Busy, Busy:

Frankly, I can’t think of any possible reason why I would need a robot around the house. Doing things is fun.

People just seem busier this Christmas putting things together. Maybe it's me because I’m getting slower! Maybe it's because of online shopping and a new kind of set of deadlines. Maybe too many people are trying to catch up with pre-covid Christmases. But it just seems hectic. Maybe its because there is a FedEx, Amazon or UPS truck sitting on city streets in every neighborhood, lights blinking away.

What I hear most often repeated among rational Americans is, “Please God, don’t make us go through a Biden Trump campaign again.

The Question:

Name the three of the six kinds of most popular flour for cooking, baking and gravy making.

The Headlines:

--Markets Up as Fed Holds and Signals 3 Rate Cuts for 2024.

--Tesla Recalls 2 Million Cars to fix Autopilot Safty Flaws.

--SC Accepts Case on Banning Abortion Medication Mifepristone.

--Hunter B Defies Congressional Subpoena’

In years past we had twinkling lights

Brightening Christmas Everywhere you go.

But now its ubiquitous blinking lights

Of delivery trucks stuck in the snow.

I used to do daily or at least weekly recipes in the Tids. Maybe it is time to go back to some old standards. Something that doesn't use avocado, chili and other unpronounceable greenery.

The Voice is down to five. I just two weeks. Now they spend much more time in the elimination process on the way to the “Lives”. Then in a matter of three weeks it is over. I liked it better when the Lives slowly eliminated contestants and they sang more. Next week we have the battle of the final five: Lila Forde, Huntley, Ruby Liegh, Mara Justine and Jacqui Roar. To me, the favorites are porbal6y Lila and Mara and I would vote for Lila. But my favorite is Ruby, the classic old country singer who is amazing at16 yo. But, I’d be very happy if Lila won.

In 1983 the massive USA Military invaded Grenada. We managed to eke out a victory. But we haven't yet established “Victory Over Cubans in Grenada” Has a national holiday yet. The next big event was the shortage of Cabbage Patch Dolls for Christmas. Where is the UN when you need them. Whoops. I guess I’m one caught up ion the hecticness of the season. The rest of historic 1983 tomorrow. I hope the anticipation doesn’t ruin your sleep.

BTW, I really blew it with my year reviews when I forgot two of my all-time favorite movies: for 1979 -- “Breaking Away” and 1980 “Being There” (Actually Being There was also a 1979 movie release but I saw it in 1980.

Where there are Pots of Gold there will be gold diggers. The FHLB (Federal Home Loan Bank) has $1.4 Trillion which as you can imagine is like the promised land for many shrewd bookkeepers well beyond those for whom the money is intended. The government deposits pots of gold across the purple mountain majesties. And then, the siphoners show up.

It looks like Hunter B is starting to use the Trump evasion playbook.

Up here, the one Interstate Road into Providence and points west of southern Massachusetts is closed. It is a mess. A truly unbelievable mess.

The Answer:

All purpose flour is good for anything. Hard flour is good for loaves, buns and donuts. Cake flour is used for tender cakes and pastries. Those are three pretty basic options for everything. Then there is Whole Wheat flour, Cooking fFlour, Noodle Flour, and Rice Flour. “Wondra flour is best for gravy.

Hey, ya gotta end with somethin’:

A team of celebrity chefs today broke the world record for largest pot of soup ever cooked. It was so huge and fatty and flavorful, scientists estimated its energy content to be about 4.2 terajoules. Yup, it's — wait for it — one bouillon calories.
